Kal blushed bright at all the cursing and grinning. Was this what it was like to have a moment with someone? Kealani didn't know, but she didn't care. It felt nice, no matter what it was. Maybe this was friendship, and perhaps it wasn't.

Kal's chest was beating hard when Tomomi wanted to start the next round. A next round? Tomomi wanted to keep spending time with her? That was pure insanity, but Kal dare not question it.

Kealani didn't know why but Tomomi's song reminded her of a bee or wasp in a jar, fearsome and erratic. She listened to it, her violin perched under her chin in preparation to begin playing.

When Kal felt she could jump in, she did. During one of Tomomi's ascending notes, Kal came into the song with a long, low note that swooped upward right after Tomomi's did, like an echo. She'd gotten a feel for Tomomi's craziness and worked at following it. When she couldn't, she'd veer off in the opposite direction rather than correcting herself only to meet Tomomi in the same note.

Hiatus
Who knew playing violin could work as excercise? Tomo could almost feel herself sweating as she kept on playing her crazy, erratic melody that had a tempo and rhytm only she could feel. Or so she thought, until Kal jumped in at a perfect moment and joined Tomo in her quest for madness. Tomo glanced at Kal, grinned like a madman and jumped to a whole new dimension of chaos. And yet, still, the melody made sense for Tomo. She was playing a bird chase, the one she had had just the other day. Tomo had ran through almost the entire forest in her pursuit of a feathered snack, making her way through bushes, puddles, trees and even people just to catch this one persistent, and plump, pigeon. And when she finally caught the pigeon she played one, long highest note possible and faded into silence.

When it was over Tomo fell to her knees, breathing heavily and still grinning widely. Tomo looked at Kal and winked.
"We coulda as well ran the marathon. At least I'm gettin' that tired. I forgot to breathe."
Tomo laughed breathlessly and was surprised there wasn't sweat streaming along her face. She just felt hot and red.
"Ya got some moves, boss. I'm real happy to be in this club since it's got such an awesome chief."

Kal didn't know what she saw from the music, maybe nothing. It was all a flurry of colors and remixes to her, but that was how she saw all music when she played. Rarely did Kealani see a scene or a picture.

When Tomomi drifted off into silence, Kal did a twirl of a high sound before following her lead into the end of the song. She let the silence sit, let their symphony die down to complete nothing before she opened her eyes and blinked at Tomo who was on her knees.

Kal was a bit blusher. She blushed at the compliments and how out of control she was with someone else. It was intimate for Kal where it might not have been for other people.

She panted and sat beside Tomomi, wiping her forehead with one of her arms. "You're moves aren't bad, either. Maybe when I graduate you'll take over the club... that's a long way off yet, but I'm always thinking about the future."

Kal glanced at Tomomi. "We're so ready for the Lilac Concert."

Hiatus
Tomo grinned at Kal when she sat next to her. She reached up to wipe some sweat off her forehead with an arm. Tomo looked at Kal's multiple arms, kinda jealous. It'd be cool to have those.
Tomo cackled when Kal said maybe some day she'd some day take over the club.
"Yeah, wouldn't that be a sight, cat tryin' to lead a club. Believe me, ya don' wanna see that. Maybe ya should just stay for eternity, we'd get off easier."
Tomo snickered and absently tuned her violin a bit.

Tomo fist pumped when Kal proclaimed they were ready for the concert.
"Hell yeah! I'll try not to crap my pants though I'm horrified."
Toml grinned, it had really been so long since she performed. Tomo had went to few violin recitals when she was small but that hadn't been her thing. All the fancy outfits and stiffness and junk. But this, this seemed much more fun.

"Does the metaphor 'trying to herd cats' still apply if the cat is the one herding?" Kal asked, only half-serious.

She went to work putting her violin back in its case, the euphoria wearing down and tiring her out. Kal needed a nap when she got home, though she didn't usually take them unless she'd managed a migraine.

"It's scary being up on stage," she said, "I've been performing my whole life and I still get scared. You just have to use your nerves to help enhance your music. Anyway, that's what I do."

Hiatus
Tomo cackled at Kal's question, imagining what the said situation could look like. Chaos was what it would be.
"Dude, I have problems just herdin' myself. I'd lose it tryin' to herd a bunch of mes. I got no idea how you're still sane."
Tomo grinned and also put her violin away, carefully. She didn't want to hurt the old instrument in any way.

Tomo nodded a bit as Kal talked, able to relate. Though Tomo had broken under the pressure and straight up refused to perform again after her 5th or 6th recital.
"Sounds like sound advice, thanks boss. Though I ain't sure it'll work."
Tomo shrugged and smiled a bit, leaning onto her violin case a bit.
"I think I'd be able to handle it if I got yo close my eyes, ya know, and go where the music takes me."

Kal wasn't sure how to approach Tomomi when she was cackling like that, so she remained quiet until the other girl spoke up. Then Kal relaxed. Ah, she got it. She laughed in a refrained manner.

"A lot of practice, mostly. And speaking loudly. You'd be surprised what people will follow if you just act confidently, er, actually there's a lot about that in world history."

Recognizing almost immediately after she said it, that talking about school was not something most kids had fun doing, Kealani blushed and reached up to wipe more perspiration from her face.

"Yeah. When I was younger I did that a lot. It helps to look at the walls, too, instead of at everyone around you."

Tomo nodded when Kal told her secrets of leadership, and Tomo grinned a bit at the history reference.
"Oh yeah, lots of dictators were just giant idiots and assholes but charisma is a bitch."
Tomo snickered a bit, for some reason imagining Kal with a Hitler mustache though the two were nothing alike.
"Not that I'm comparing you to a dictator, sorry if it came out like that."

Tomo noted the slight blush on Kal's cheeks and wondered its reason but then she already jumped to the next topic and Tomo smiled widely.
"I wouldn' know lots 'bout that since I threw in the towel after my 5th or 6th recital. An' as I got older we had to perform later an' later an' I can't play after 9pm without makin' everyone in the audience dance. Though that woulda been a sight, bunch of tightcollars dancin' riverdance in a violin recital."
Tomo snickered at the image.

Kal shook her head and held a hand up to indicated that she wasn't offended. "I made started the comparisons, I'm not offended."

When Tomomi commented about making the audience dance, Kal sat up straighter and her flustered expression jumped to one of genuine intrigue. "Oh, you have magic with the violin?" She tried to recall if Tomomi had ever mentioned this in full, but couldn't conjure any memory of it.

"What exactly does it do, if you don't mind me asking?"
