Phaedra stormed into the room slamming the door behind her. She let out a frustrated yell and threw herself onto her hammock with a practiced accuracy. Riley had burned her good. She was used to his apathy, after all, his devil may care attitude was part of the reason she liked him. But last night and today had been too much to deal with.
She had gone to spacecon and rented a room for the evening. It hadn't been cheap, but she had deemed it to be worth it. She was going to Surprise the Zombie with her room key, and there under the stars, they would be intimate for the first time. That's what she had planned. Instead, Riley had been mugged by her sister, and the key had been stolen, so he claimed. To top it all off, Dalia had spent the night pranking her. When Phae had confronted Riley the next day, he had seemed so unconcerned by it that it actually hurt her feelings. She had tried so hard and set up something so nice, and he had completely dismissed it like it was nothing.
She pulled one of her pillows up to her face and pressed it tight against her skin and screamed into it. She hadn't been this frustrated before, not that she could remember. She wanted to Yell at Riley, to tell him off, make a scene. But somehow she knew that wasn't going to help. Perhaps it was better that she just walked away.
Perhaps walking away was not the best way to describe what had happened. She had been pissed up there. On her way out she had probably caused a couple hundred dollars in property damage. Shredding a few cushions and curtains, and even uprooting a potted plant before finally reaching the Teleporter. By far it was tame compared to what she wanted to do. Still, she had left before saying anything she would regret later.
"How could he be so stupid?" She sighed as she tossed the pillow across the room.
