Private Finished Make a Splash

Jae huffed at Alexis' choice of words. Scare the shit out of someone, what a crude slang term. "I wouldn't put it that way." Jae mumbled, feeling foolish and stubborn. "You're not the only one who likes to swim after school, you know."

The teen flinched as Alexis dove under again, and splashed by a new wave of water. Instinctively Jae tapped into his electrolocation sense and felt Alexis catch his fish. Crap, did this guy have a similar sense? He's been watching Jae the whole time! Maybe Alexis just had really good eye sight.

"I mean jumping. You know, diving under then swimming up as fast as you can to go airborne. Like dolphins do." And dolphins could be real show-offs about it too.

Think he's rude? Jae was sure he knew rude when he saw it, but didn't address it. Jae doubted it would make a difference. Still, he was drawn in by Alexis' bold claim. "Then you could prove it no problem." This wyvern was rude and brash, but he was not about to beat Jae at a jumping contest.

Jae swam back to give Alexis room to dive and make his attempt. "And don't cheat and use your wings once in the air." He added, in case Alexis thought he'd be cheeky and say that they never said wings couldn't be used for height advantages.

Jae really wished Alexis would stop spraying him with water, but he wasn't about to complain about it. As annoying as it was, it was only water. He tracked Alexis through through the water and was well out of the way as the other came out in a burst of water. Alexis' roar was impressive, but not so much the height he got.

Jae slid up to Alexis' side, "My turn." And dove down into the water. Jae didn't go nearly as deep as Alexis had, but he didn't need to. Though his tail wasn't built for speed, he was far more streamlined than a wyvern. Jae propelled himself up, his fin's held tight against his tail to reduce drag. The teen leapt from the water and because he practiced it, curled into the jump to form a ring with is body and circled once, then twice and unfurled to dive cleanly back into the water. In true show-off dolphin style.

He surfaced with a smile, "I think I got higher," He said politely, though he knew for a fact he did. "Want to go again?" He asked, half out of competitive spirit and half because he was having fun.

Jae grinned, inordinately happy with his victory. It would be rude to rub it in, however. Then Alexis asked what he wanted for winning, and Jae paused. What he wanted for winning? The merman's gut instinct was that he didn't want anything. Victory was enough for him, really. Jae almost said as much, when an idea came to him.

"I want. . . to know how you keep making mist. Tell me about your powers." Was it magic? Or some kind of wyvern natural science thing. The merman shifted so he floated comfortably on top of the water, tail lazily swaying to keep himself in place.

Jae shook his head at the accusation, as his demand was an honest one. The circling did worry him, but Jae refused to let it show this time and remained as he was. "Show me?" Jae watched Alexis pull in a deep breath of air, then gasped as a thick cloud of mist encased him. It shouldn't have been so surprising but it caught him off-guard.

Immediately he felt for Alexis' location, and wasn't surprised when the other's voice echoed through the cloud. "Mist to disorient your prey, huh." A scary, but no doubt effective strategy. "Are there other Mistcaller Wyvern's on the island?" It would be nice to know if there were other diving wyverns to watch out for.
