Madeleine Kleonidas

Standing only at a height of 3'9" ft, with fluffy hair that's almost enough to engulf her whole body, Madeleine gives one the impression of being a very cute elementary school girl. She's a little on the chubby side, showing much of it on her face through her plump cheeks that's a little bit flushed over. Her demeanor and overall appearance makes her come off as a well-behaved little child.

The notable thing about this little girl is that not only is her hair unusually fluffy, she's rather... pink. Her skin is an unusual shade of rosy white, with eyes that are glassy and candied, nothing in her appearance helps with her inhuman looks. She appears to have a set of dimples on her cheeks, only visible when smiling. Madeleine also has some freckles dusting over the bridge of her nose, all the way to the sides of her face. She's always smiling but rather than making her ten times cuter, it kind of gives her a creepy air around her.

Her very pink hair would remind someone of cotton candy, though it would appear to be heavier and thicker as it rest on her head, falling in uneven curls until it reaches her elbows. It has so much volume though that it's at least twice the size of her head! No one needs to ask how she maintains that — it's more or less all-natural. Her eyes are more leaning on the violet side, surrounded with a pinkish white sclera and very evidently lacking pupils. It has this particular sheen that makes it look like candy, or glazed with sugar.

Her clothing preference is... mixed. Often times she's found wearing something similar to a school uniform, while at other times, she'd be wearing a Sunday dress. Though whatever she does wear, she tends to wear a greater majority of pinks and reds, only mixing some yellows to whites or a smidgen of blue when she feels like it. A favorite accessory of hers is a red heart-shaped brooch, accented with gold around it, often worn on her neck on a ribbon, or simply pinned on her blouse. In her inert form, she appears similar to a gumball with a rather milky pink, yellow, and blue striping.​

Madeleine's gives the impression of a very naive child. Confused most of the time, and sometimes a little too curious of the things happening around her. She looks like she can be easily manipulated without much consequence and she wouldn't even realize it unless someone mentions it to her and explain it very clearly.

While not too far from the truth, it's not the truth. Madeleine is a little bit confused, although too much to not to be able to manage on her own. It's hard to tell her age for this reason: despite being particularly quick-witted to be an actual 10-year-old, she has a lot of quirks that requires her to be under parental guidance at certain times of the day. She's child-like in a lot of aspects, sometimes impulsive, other times unreasonable and immature, but she could be given some more credit when considering how complex her train of thought could get.

Her sociability is also a bit questionable. She can easily move in a crowd, jumping from person to person and keeping a decent exchange, especially when around young children her age, but at random times, she stops and singles out a person at a time when they catch her interest.

People who catch her interest should be a little wary; once Madeleine locks onto a person, it would take a while before she moves on to another. During the whole duration of this, she would exhibit some obsessive and minor stalker tendencies. She would focus on this person whenever they're present, disregarding others, and also attempt to get their attention on her and her alone. Along with this, she could become inconsistent with the things she talks about once she does this to be in the other person's favor, such as her personal history and interests, but outside of this situation, Madeleine would be less prone to any other form of lying. Just... less prone.

Madeleine's interests circles around sweets and cute toys — not really much of a surprise given the fact that she does look like an elementary school girl. She only actually has one doll that isn't something she created from sugar: a life-sized raggedy Anne doll. It was the only possession she was ever found with, and she's been found to be very meticulous with it, tending to it daily and making sure no one messes her up or takes her away. It looks a little old, but it's in a good state, appearing to have been repaired of any damages.

All in all, Madeleine seems like a sweet little girl, even though she seems a little confused and rather immature at other times. She's not particularly polite, but she often only holds her tongue from making snarky comments around adults. It's not really the same with kids her age. It seems impossible to make her angry, but it would probably be best not to test her. She has a tendency to develop a "holier-than-thou" attitude and a morally questionable alignments which really needs to be cut from the root before it's too late.

Despite her claim being "older than she looks", she doesn't really have the knowledge and skills to prove it. Intelligent, yes, but she doesn't exactly pass for higher education above the 5th grade. She has an obvious lack of practical skill, especially when it comes to trades, but Madeleine does show some potential with the arts that can possibly be molded into something marketable.

Sugar Witches, as their name suggest have power over sugar, although they aren't only limited to sugar: they can create an assortment of confectionery they put their mind to. They can create sugar in anyway possible be it regular sugar, candies, pastries, or in every Sugar Witch's case, an entire body magically constructed from sugar. Other than her body construct, Madeleine can so far only create smaller things, such as little candies, lollipops, and at most, terribly sugary cupcakes. Candies and lollipops usually just take her a few seconds to make, but cupcakes take five minutes at least.

They can create up a huge amount of sugar in a single day, amounting up to to 1000 kilograms each before they exhaust themselves out of their magic. In the worst case, they can become exhausted enough to lose control of their bodies and revert into an inert ball of sugar about the size of a volleyball. After a full drain like this, it would take a least 24 hours until they reform and wake up.

While their physical bodies could look very much human-like in many aspects if they so prefer, a consistent part of their bodies is that there will be high concentrations of sugar in their blood and they will have eyes that look glazed. Their human bodies can act almost similarly to how human bodies should save for the obvious exception that they don't necessarily get sick and their diet consists of only sweets. Their bodies are essentially edible and can taste differently from one another: Madeleine quite literally tastes like a madeleine except for her hair which is literally cotton candy flavored.

Madeleine's body is made to appear as a cute little girl with cotton candy hair and hard candy eyes, and powered by a candied core. Sugar Witches are known to possess hearts that is made of taffy-like candy and caramelized in a thin coat of hardened sugar, often in varying shapes for each individual.

Their hearts are essentially their soul so as long as it isn't broken, Madeleine can repair this body with sugar that she can produce herself as well as from external sources. Repairing small damages her body on her own takes time, with only just about a fraction quicker than human healing. On the other hand, using external sources can quicken the pace to a point she can regenerate a lost hand in 10 minutes if there's enough sugar, but she would need to place them over the damage, almost like patching up a wound. External sources is only limited to refined sugar and not that would need to be extracted.

If Madeline's body is destroyed (with the core still in tact), she would need about a week before she can be able to reconstruct her body. There is no record as to how old a Sugar Witch can possibly live but they can be killed by destroying their hearts.

The Sugar Heart, as what it is properly called, is essentially fragile that although would not break entirely simply by getting dropped, it can be crushed through strong blunt force, strong, constant (physical) pressure, or even intense heat. Small repairable damages to the heart is possible to survive from, but by completely destroying her heart, Madeline would pretty much die.

Although, a second party may assist and repair the heart by remaking it from its shards. The Sugar Witch will then be allowed to recover over a course of a week, up to a month. The recovery time largely depends on how much damage had been done to the Sugar Heart, and how much of the remade core was part of the original heart. The remake doesn't need to be 100% from the original but it would contribute to the speed of recovery if the larger part is.

Infection and Possession :: It's not of public knowledge but eating a Sugar Witch's heart is probably not the best idea. Their hearts are quite carnivorous--which is to say, if anyone tries to eat their hearts, it will eat them back, break down everything from the inside, convert it into sugar and eventually allow the witch to take over the body — essentially killing the person who had consumed the heart. Basically if you're planning to kill a Sugar Witch, just destroy them. This entire process is irreversible and will take only one week before complete and total possession.

Sugar Witches can also produce a type of magic candy that has similar properties of the heart. If this candy is eaten, a person can be put into a candy-obsessing state that can make them susceptible to suggestion and compelled to do as the witch wishes. They can be ordered around for candy bribes--although people who have more tolerance to sweets revert to normal at a quicker rate for some reason. The effects lasts at least an hour but no more than 24 hours, or when the person sleeps it off.

This candy can only be eaten once because a high amount of it in a person's system can create a candy parasite inside the person's body. The candy "parasite" will find its way to the person's heart and proceed to infect them. They would not be killed, but in a manner of saying, they will end up being converted into a Sugar Witch themselves at the end of the entire process.

The whole process of infection and eventual transformation can take up from a month up to three at most. The person will barely feel the change but they will notice an increased craving for anything with sugar. The candy only usually acts like a virus, spreading in the body but there are some cases for older, more powerful Sugar Witches, they can makes ones that can be sentient enough. The process is definitely quicker if they give in to the cravings, making the process of 'replacing' every inch of their body with the sugar they consume. Unlike consuming the actual Sugar Heart, this process can be terminated by severely limiting sugar consumption until the three months have passed since eating the last magic candy.

Weaknesses :: Being creatures constructed by magic, their only possible weakness is direct magic attacks or anything that can disrupt the flow of magic in their systems that is needed to hold their physical forms. Water, while not lethal to a Sugar Witch, is a huge deterrent since it makes them sticky and makes movement difficult. Fire is a huge hazard and can not only hinder movements like water can, but also melt their forms so most Sugar Witches avoid large open fires as much as possible. Boiling water, on the other hand, is a very dangerous element and can lead to death if it reaches their hearts. Basically, pour boiling water all over her and she'll be melting like the Wicked Witch of the West. Elemental magic with affinity of either the two elements would become lethal to Sugar Witches if aimed right.​

Madeleine... doesn't have a clear history. She seems to have emerged from the Candy House that appeared in the forest earlier in the year but there is no conceivable explanation where she exactly originated from and how she even came to be. She introduces herself as "Madeleine Rosette" and that she was a Sugar Witch who's lived in that forest for years — possibly since the island's discovery but nothing can be traced to confirm any of her claims, baffling many of those who had found her in the forest.

While first sent to the orphanage, she was recently adopted by Asger Kleonidas a few weeks ago, one of the people who had found her and she has been studying in Starlight Academy for the last few months. She still goes to the Candy House often, saying she's waiting for her brother to "come back home".​
