Lying In Wait

He could feel a shift in the conversation as soon as Leeroy claimed he’d have to speak the truth outright. When he spoke like that out of nowhere, it felt almost like a red flag, and Sasha made sure to take what he said with a grain of salt – though why he would lie about his diet, he didn’t know. Maybe he ate something other than food, Sasha reasoned.

But he didn’t want to push the man too far, not when he’d already been so accommodating.

“I imagine they would do the same things anyone would do with organs – sell them to people who need them. It’s good money, and it’s easier than looking for the odd mad scientist who wants them. Really, if you’re into human experimentation, it’s probably easier to just kidnap people yourself. Much cheaper, too. So I don’t see much risk for someone like you.”

“Hmm.” The corner of his lip quirked up slightly. “I was right, speaking to you is mildly entertaining.” He took his phone out and began to compose a message.

‘Have you been banned from school area yet? Many interesting people around.’

<div align=center>As much as Leeroy liked to help people, he couldn't justify putting himself out on such a shady business. He wondered if he was doing more harm than good, as there were those who just couldn't afford medical attention to pay for a organ replacement. And there were many doctors who worked illegally yet professionally, right? Plus, it prevented more kids that were the result of botched scientific experiments to end up here. Still...

"Ahm... Still not sure... I'd have ta think about it." He muttered as he dwelled on the subject. Would he really trust his liver to a source that wasn't guaranteed to be safe? Maybe. He didn't want to be selfish.

With the next statement he felt a bit lighter, a small smile creeping on his face. "Well uh, if that's a good thing than thanks." He then saw that he was texting somebody, though he wouldn't be nosy and prod. Still, the transition in conversation to his immediate text had been interesting.

"Ya know, I kinda gotta say I'm flattered thatcha came all tha way up here ta talk ta me." He stated with almost a lightly sarcastic chuckle.</div>

“You’re seriously considering it? That’s far more than I expected.” From what Sasha had seen, Leeroy was terribly upright. To be so upright that he’d consider going to the black market just to help people… “Maybe you should apply for sainthood.” He chuckled.

“It’s a good thing, in my book. Don’t know if it’s good in yours.”

He finished sending his text before turning his attention back to Leeroy. “Mm? It’s not that far of a walk, not when you have as much free time as I do. The joys of being mostly unemployed, you know. I just didn’t have anything better to do. Where were you planning to go, anyways?”

He hadn’t decided yet if Niccolò would find Leeroy a worthy pursuit. He was imagining some sort of soft aura, maybe white… though of course, the fact that he exploded on occasion could lend some more interesting colours to him.

<div align=center>Sainthood. Pft. As if. He had done some pretty awful things in his lifetime, though usually not on purpose. Still, he was pretty clean in terms of behavior. He figured if perhaps he was nice then in the long run he wouldn't have bad karma. But in terms of prudence he was as clean as a whistle. In all honesty? He just needed to get laid. That would probably change a lot about him.

If that could even be physically possible for him in the first place.

"Eh, I dunno. I've had ma share of unsaint-ly experiences, believe me." Leeroy chuckled. "But yeah, I'm pretty clean otherwise." He really needed to spice up his life. He didn't necessarily want to be a 60 year old man in a 29 year old body, after all.

"I'm sure there's placed for ya ta get hired... If you're innerested. Don't think this place haa welfare..." Eh, he just made enough to not need it. This man needed a job however, even if it was a waiter at the local cafe. With his question of his destination, he shrugged. "Jist... Home I guess... I don't have anything else better ta do either..." Maybe he could go out later for another walk or something, or to the bar. Then again, he didn't need to wake up with a hangover. </div>

“Oh?” Sasha raised an eyebrow. “I’ll make sure not to miss them next time. Sounds like a good time.”

He shrugged. “I did say mostly unemployed. Money is no longer an issue for me, but thank you.” He gave the man a nod. “Home, hmm? I suppose at times like this I simply wander. The island is, after all, full of interesting people. Did you know at least one of your students is a murderer? Or, well, you might not teach her. But she’s almost definitely a student at Starlight.”

<div align=center>Now, Leeroy's moments of weakness were nothing to be proud of. He had done some pretty bad things... And he didn't want to replicate any of them. "Eh... If ya say so..." He chuckled nervously, mind dwelling on darker thoughts.

Of course again, the man went back into creepy territory... He wasn't surprised. The conversation took a deeper turn, which only amplified the fact that he was 'mostly' unemployed. Whatever that meant. "Ah... Awright, then..." He didn't even want to ask. However with the topic of a student he shrugged. He had become accustomed to this school. Strange things happened there. "Ya know what? I think I do. Plenty of kids here are dangerous..." But his voice lowered. "But whodja think it is...?"</div>

“You act as if I get my money from illegal sources. All I did was make a rich friend.” A rich friend who was far too generous for his own good.

Sasha shook his head at Leeroy’s hushed statement. “No, I don’t think anything, and from what I can tell it had nothing to do with her powers... she was simply trying to get her way, and quite willing to kill for it. She was absolutely brilliant… you should have seen her efficiency. The man was twice her size, but not only did she dispatch him in a second, she cleaned the body away within a few minutes.” Guinevere, he’d heard her called. Guinevere Haze. “She’s only a bit taller than five feet. I would tell you more, but if you start acting too suspiciously around her, she might well kill you too. Certainly I’ve had my guard up since I spoke to her.”

“Her hair was silver,” he said softly. “I would call it unusual, but everything seems to go, around here…”

<div align=center>The suspiciousness of the current moment faded once it was clear that man wasn't terribly shady in his line of work. Still, he preferred that the man just get a job. But then again... Nah, he just may not be cut out for things like 'friendly customer relations'. He wondered if he would too would ask about the arrangement of his client's organs. Yeah, no. "Okay... 'Slong as you're gettin income some way ora nuther." He dismissed with a shrug of his shoulders.

With the description of this alleged killer, he raised a brow. So he might be teaching a murderer. Huh. That wasn't very surprising. With her specs stated he muttered a simple "Damn.". That was pretty impressive, albeit concerning. He wasn't going to question it further, for he didn't want her to go after him... As hard as he was to kill, he was sure someone like her would find an easy way to do so. "I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for tellin' me."

He looked ahead to the garden around the courtyards, his mind thinking. "I think I know her. But I don't wanna say it aloud." He stated simply, shrugging. "I'm sure there's some other people ya gotta watch out for... Hate ta say it, and ya didn't here it from me, but honestly this stuff happens all the time. The kid that wants ta being forth the Armageddon, the kid who wants ta kill everybody... Ehh, I've been here long 'nuff ta see it all. After awhile it becomes a bit predictable." But then he looked to him, with half of a smile. "But I gotta safely say I ain't seen a guy likeya yet..."</div>

“I did it because I thought it was an interesting thing to talk about, not for your sake. Currently I believe I would genuinely forgive your death if it happened in a particularly intriguing manner.”

Sasha glanced towards Leeroy at his next statement. “Do you, now. I suppose she has a certain presence to her, yes…”

And then he stopped. He drank in everything Leeroy had to say, and for once in his life he found himself genuinely surprised. It sounded like a bad joke.

But from what he could tell, Leeroy was an honest man, and Starlight Academy had just gotten a lot more interesting. “…The amount of power in this area is astounding. I don’t think a simple man like me can hold up.”

“…I was sent a letter some time ago, which promised safety and freedom in the Manta Carlos islands. I’ve begun to fear it wasn’t a lie.”

<div align=center>Ah. So much for a genuine safety procaution. Leeroy frowned a bit, grumbling a small "I'm sure.". That was a first, and probably not a last. Most likely this man would only continue to make comments like this, further cementing Leeroy's feeling of unease he got whenever around him. Though, he had to admit, he would probably go out in the best way possible. Or at least he hoped so.

"Well, seems ta me that you're a guy that lives for danger." No wonder he was into the cataclysmic side of the usually peaceful island. Hm, he had to keep that in mind. Perhaps he was willing to perform more of the dangerous tasks that people needed to be done around ere. Possibly. "Eh, there's an ugly side ta anything. Some of tha nicest and some of tha most despicable people I've ever met come from the exact same place here. Ya don't even hafta look for excitement... If you're tha kind of guy who likes ta see a train wreck, that sorta stuff usually follows ya." Though, instead of saying excitement, he really meant trouble. Eh, the guy could probably handle it anyway.</div>
