Expected? That made it... kind of tricky, actually. There wasn't any clear yes or no expression on his face.

"That would depend who's expectations you're talking about, so that's a firm 'depends'," Jude said after a moment.

Gyan and his companion exchanged a quick look with each other, and then turned their attention back to the question and answer game.

Augustus couldn't believe it. He was being outsmarted by a kid with more metal in his face that should be necessary. Was this the new punk?

On his 20th question, he was stumped. This one couldn't possibly be a kitchen item, yet why did it all seem to return to that? Bah, it must have been his questions.

ABout to ask his final question, he was interrupted by his pager going off. "Damn, my appointment was postponed." Looking at Jude, he frowned. "Why couldn't events just stay when booked?"

Booked? Realising something, he smiled. A moment of brilliance. "Say, the answer wouldn't happen to be book, now would it?"

It all came back to the kitchen because Augustus had been off the trail. Cookbooks, after all, could be in the kitchen, and each successive question only seemed to wind him deeper. Jude was fairly confident he wasn't going to make it when, at the last possible moment, Augustus pulled the answer out of his hat.

"It would," Jude said with a small laugh. "I kind of thought I'd lost you totally. That said, that's the absolute last question - so technically, if I get it on questions one to nineteen, I'll win."

Which was going to be a challenge.

Jude started with his own questions, narrowing things down carefully. The problem was that, six or seven questions in, Jude knew what it was... but guessing a 'cell phone' got a no.

He smirked. Augustus barely got it on the last question. The kid had no chance. "I guess this means I have won this game or did this have another round to it?"

I sure hope not. Augustus didn't have that meeting later anymore but now hoped to take full advantage of that free hour.

"Another round," Jude pointed out. "We've played your round, but we still have to play mine. If I guess before you, then that means I did better. Otherwise, the person guessing would be at a disadvantage."

For someone so smug, he did somehow manage to have opened himself up for a major loss.

Jude wasn't going to drag it out though, and he went straight into his questions, working down the list he'd made in his head to narrow it down. The problem was that, six or seven questions in, Jude knew what it was... but guessing a 'cell phone' got a no.

The Boy had answered a few questions and had come surprisingly close. A Mobile phone was along the same lines, but ultimately wrong. Smirking, Augustus put his fingers together. "Keep going, I want to see how long it takes, Thirteen to go."

Admittedly, he was a little shocked at how quickly Jude passed through the questions. He himself had to think about them for a while and had asked complex questions, while Jude only looked for the bare minimum.

Was he going to beat him?

He was speeding through questions, even as he realized he was slipping too close to the end. He hadn't been worried about winning or losing since he had found out the prize, but even so his brows furrowed increasingly tightly together as he tried to work it out.

"You're a poor sport," Gyan's friend said, making a pointed look at Augustus. He was playing against a teenager, and yet he was smirking at him just the same. Jude hadn't even lost yet, and there he was, doing it anyway.

"It's fine," Jude said, waving it off. "It's just a game."

He continued on with his question, right up until the last one, at which point he simply waved a hand.

"I'll concede. I've got no idea what it is, exactly."

"I wouldn't say I'm a poor sport," Augustus said, annoyed that the Regalis would think such a thing. "I'm only recognising my chances at winning the same way a professional poker player would." That wasn't a lie of sorts, as he knew of poker players beyond the veil that used facial expressions to unnerve their opponents.

It appeared it wasn't necessary, as the boy conceded before asking his final question. "Well, it appears I have won now, as I foretold."

Nodding at them all, he made sure his victory was recognised before continuing. "The Object I was visualising was nothing other than my pager here," Augustus said, placing the item in front of him. "I guess you spent too much time in the future to recognise the origins."

"You mean... in the present?" Jude said, raising an eyebrow. A pager had never occured to him, albeit not for the reasons Augustus thought.

"Really, he just didn't get it because you cheated around the actual answers," Gyan's friend said, showing some of his anger.

"Please," Gyan said quietly, doing his best to calm him down. They were an odd pair, slightly mismatched in temperments, but Gyan's sushing didn't quite get him to calm down.

"Screens of a pager are almost never made of glass, it would be inefficient. The pager also always has more than four corners, because it's not flat. They're also predominantly green. You only won because you cheated around the actual answers."

"It doesn't particular matter," Jude said. "I wouldn't have gotten it, even with the correct answers, and it's all for fun anyway. I've lost three times already, which absolutely puts me out of the running anyway. I'm not going to argue for a redo or anything. It's not worth the time."

If Jude was being honest with himself, he was a bit annoyed. But Gyan was right there, and Gyan was all about harmony and understanding. He wasn't about petty arguments, which made his choice of friends that much more strange. He actually looked kind of embarrassed at the whole thing.

"I'll see you around sometime," Jude said, pushing himself upright. He kind of hoped he didn't - the man seemed like a bit of an ass.

He'd wait for Augustus's own goodbyes, and then head off with his two Regalia in tow, shooting each other looks as they did.
