For the past year, Ater had enjoyed his stay in Starlight. He made friends, found enemies, but most of all he had forged an identity as the trouble-maker, the dunce, the jester. Happy to make a fool of himself so long as it entertained those who call him friend. Yet most of all, he was known as someone who would stand up for what he thought was right, and was generally regarded as this easy-going teen who lived in the now and had zero plans for the future. But of course to him he had plenty of time to make up his mind. It wasn't like he was a senior already, this whole planning thing can wait until then.

On his way to the cafeteria, he felt this presence that... made his hatred burn brighter than the sun. Kyrrava...

The spirit was close by.

He had made an active effort to avoid the carrier of this spirit in case it could see through his shroud, but after a year of living without problems from this creature, he was confident that he was hidden well enough, otherwise they would have already traded blows. He decided to see for himself who this person was. He'll see how he could eliminate this presence after seeing how dangerous this creature was.

Idly, he followed the presence he sensed at a slow pace. He wasn't eager to meet this holy spirit, but he also had to act like he was just on his merry way. Especially since he was coming upon some unused rooms. He also sensed some other souls around the Kyrrava. Had they gathered up a gang, perhaps? As he turned the corner, hands in his pockets, he saw a group of 5 students. One of them was a little separated from the group, possibly acting as the guard as he was quick to deny Ater entry.

"Hey, turn around, foxboy, the group's doing some work for a project and the lead' doesn't want to get interrupted. We're running low on time, you see," he tried to convince him.

"Oh, sorry. I was just looking for a place to nap," Ater said with a chuckle. He spied the group of 4 just a bit away. They didn't look like they were doing a project, unless that project was a roleplay on harassment. "Can I just pass through real quick? I won't bother anyone I prom--OW! Owowowow!"

The other student grabbed on of his fluffy ears and pulled him along back the way he came. "No," simply said.

If the girl of the group was indeed in trouble, now would have been a good time to shout out.

Getting into situations like this was not uncommon for the young girl, who had few methods to fight back. Her specialization in purification magic barely did any good, and even if she tried to use an incantation to form a spell for defense, it would be cut short with a quick and painful uppercut to her jaw.

“You owe us that money you promised,” said the leader of the bullies; a boy with two cat tails and ears-- a nekomata. Another was a vampire, another an average human with magic, and the other some kind of lycanthrope.

Izuna was sitting quietly in a desk chair, unable to move up or else risk facing consequences swiftly delivered by the four. Why was this permitted to go on? Was it because she was human, and a weaker one at that, or did she simply look that helpless? “I didn’t promise you anything,” she stated flatly, avoiding the unnatural eyes of the nekomata and his partners. “Besides, I have no money with me except for five dollars for snacks. If you want it, have it.”

Anything to get out of this mess.
The answer did not seem to please the nekomata, who responded by delivering a quick and painful slash of his claws to her face. Izuna let out an agonized shriek, pulling her hands up to her cheek to feel the open wound, fortunately not too deep.

As the strike came to her face, she caught sight of a flash of black and red, and some words from outside the room. Was somebody else here, besides the room’s ‘guard’. She had little idea what this mob wanted, other than to see her suffer and cry, or force her to make some disastrous promises to them. She had been warned of the danger of debts and pledges to anyone.

She was going to be here for a long time anyway, and doubted that she would make it out without a few injuries. Her judgment led her to risk calling out, a fair gamble for the slightest chance that someone would respond. “H-help!” she cried out, before feeling a harsh blow to the side of her skull, dazing her as her head began to throb.

The cry for help and the sound of abuse was all Ater needed to confirm that he should jump into action. Who knows, maybe this Kyrrava still wasn't aware of him and he could... as much as his spirit hated the idea, become 'friends'. However his spirit reveled in the idea of slowly corrupting the pure, goody-goody light within that flesh and blood prison.

Before the goon that had him by the ear could react properly, Ater drove his elbow right under the fool's ribcage, the strike coming from a lower angle in order to force the diaphram to contract and evacuate the goon's lungs of air. He would then grab him by the side of his face and smacked it into the wall, although without using too much force. The guideance councilor was already breathing down his neck because of the other times he was caught in a fight, but at least this time he could say it was justified to rescue a damsel in distress.

He ran back to the room and saw the three delinquents eyeing him. Hold on, weren't there four--SMACK!

He felt a punch hit him square in the jaw from the side, making him stumble and fall, hitting his head on the edge of a desk. "Ooowwww," he winced, not knowing whether to rub his jaw or the back of his head. It was the lycan that had hit him, and it was him that picked the kitsune up by the collar, carrying him towards the rest of the group, and slammed him down on a desk.

"Pain. Hurting."

Looking to his side, he could see that he was placed just a row ahead of the girl they've been picking on. "Don't worry, beautiful, I got this under control," he said with a wink and a nervous laugh that was silenced when the lycan squeezed his neck. "All... part... of the plan."

"You should have just turned around while you still could have," the vampire told him as he looked on to their leader to decide on what to do with Ater.

Ater firmly held onto the lycan's wrist, unknown to the beast that he was being cursed with a delayed paralysis. The kitsune could activate it any time, but he wanted to see if either of these remaining fools were cocky enough to get within reach.
