Shay gnawed at her lower lip, thoughtful and somewhat awkward at having upset him. She had never considered herself very good with talking to people, or making them comfortable, or even being an entertaining source of distraction.
"Yeah, dad, eh, has a whole strategy table... thing." Shay gave her ear an awkward scratch. "What kind of strategic things have you done? I'm not really a good fighter, way too tiny and angry, but I try. I usually just get beaten up." She moved a strand of hair to show a nearly healed bruise at her temple. "Just don't tell on me."
"Well sadly I haven't dont anything noteworthy things strategically." Malek eyes lit up when she said she wasn't a good fighter. This was a perfect chance to actually help someone. "Well if you ever need tips or want to spar I'm here. I have fought for Mal knows how long. I'm sure I have some tips that could help you. You say your tiny and angry, well use that to your advantage. Your small stature is harder to hit so if you keep moving you will certainly give you oppenent trouble." Malek frowned for a moment when he saw the bruise but he didn't say anything.
"That would be cool. I'm being trained here and there, but it's always nice to have someone closer to my age to take on. I mean, you're a Dragon, so I'm at a pretty heavy disadvantage, but that's common for me."
She sighed and rubbed her bruised temple. "Vito told me 'smart people rule the world and strong people rule the alleys.' I took that to heart. I'm trying to get smarter with my approach to things. In short, yeah, I think I'd have fun sparring with you, Malek."
Malek smiled when he was told she would enjoy sparing with him. "Smart people do rule the world, but smart people use their strengths which make them strong. And you should know most fights are either here or there. You either have the disadvantage or the advantage, but it never means the fight is certain." Malek decided to stop the words of wisdom there before he went on a full on rant.
Shay wasn't sure about most of that, but she'd only begun learning anything substantial about fighting. She was out of her element, but what else was new? Out of her element was how Shay functioned best.
She grinned at Malek and stood after she'd gathered her tray. "Sooo, maybe this weekend then? For the training stuff. It would be nice to know some defense mechanisms. I do tend to get into a lot of trouble, after all."
