Chloe was wearing her glamour today. The one that made her look vaguely Korean. It looked cute enough, and Chloe always thought it was weird to look in a mirror and see herself wearing shoes. It had been almost three years since Chloe had worn actual shoes; she didn't remember what it felt like anymore. Chloe felt like she was just walking around in some stranger's skin whenever she had this thing on.
It was a necessary evil, today. Ever since the news coverage of the corn maze incident started mentioning her by name, the harassment didn't stop. Some stupid conspiracy theorist thought she had been in cahoots with that old man Jenkins who did all the human sacrifice in the maze. Even though she had stabbed the man to death, a lot of people thought she and her father were involved, and they didn't hold back in letting her know how they felt about her.
And so she was wearing a disguise, and she had taken to bringing her familiar along with her everywhere. Arach was hiding in her hair, ready to jump out and act as a bodyguard at any moment. Right now she was sitting outside of a cafe, perusing a recently purchased book and sipping on a latte. She saw Kaya walking towards her down the sidewalk, and stared at her for a while before deciding to engage her in conversation.
"Hey Kaya! How's it going?" Chloe waved. Kaya wouldn't be able to recognize her, so Chloe had to get up and approach her, getting close enough so that most others wouldn't hear her say "It's Chloe."
"Do you want to have some coffee or something with me? It's been way too long."
