James could be described with two words, broken and lost. His emotions were a torrent of pain and confusion, so he found himself doing things he shouldn't, drinking, wandering into places he shouldn't go. All in an attempt to burry the pain and ignore the confusion.

So here he was, wandering out of some crappy low end nightclub that didn't even bother carding people. His gray-silver eyes looked wrong, hollow and troubled as it looked around the area. His boss twitched slightly, his senses were slowly enhancing, becoming stronger.

It didn't take long for him to notice her, she was his best friend and the glowing eyes certainly stood out. He didn't say anything, he hadn't been expecting to see her.

Nyota just let out an exasperated sigh as she looked at her friend James. She takes a few steps forward, pinching the bridge of her nose and shaking her head. She didn't know what was more ludicrous, finding James in the state that he is or caring enough to find his sorry ass. Well she was here now she might as well see this through.

"Hey dork... just... god damn it. You look like fucking shit... just, what hell are you even doing out here? No bullshit now okey?" demanded Nyota, trying to restrain her annoyance for having to come out and drag his ass around AGAIN!

"N-nyota....what are you doing here?" he asked is friend, though her words quickly answered the question. "I'm fine, just wandering around," he wasn't even drunk at the moment, but it was still lie. He'd been distant since he started dating Mari, and things went downhill from there.

"Just needed some air is all," he ran his fingers through his hair, sighing a bit. "Your eyes really stand out in the night," he said with a chuckle, behind him a working girl came out of the club, her client with her, the pair walked away into the night.

James' eyes closed a bit, maybe he'd wandered in there because him of home, the booze and the dancers, common sights in Ashton. "The Shadow's been quiet lately, when he does talk it isn't cruel like it used to be," he was trying to keep the subject of their conversation on something else.

"You... you have been distant recently okey? I asked around and people been saying you are just... loitering around here. So I thought I would come out and sure enough... here you are." explained Nyota, resting her hand on her hip and letting out a huff. She turns her head, looking some bum swooning back and forth as he leaves the nightclub just behind James before she locks her bright eyes back onto her friend once more.

"Yeah I can see that... you have been wandering around recently huh?" commented Nyota, if James really wanted to get fresh air, the downtown area of the city late at night would not have been something she would recommend. Nyota sighed, rubbing her right temple for this might be a long night for the both of them. She ignores James comments about her eyes and about his shadow.

"James... did you not hear me? I said no bullshit okey? I am asking why are you here? Do you even know why your even here?"

"I....," he pinched the bridge of his nose, "does it matter?" He so confused about what's happened in the last few months, "you came looking for me?" he asked with a sigh. "It was kind of you, but I'm fine Nyota."

In truth he wasn't sure why he was there. "There are corners of this city," he sorta motioned to the club, "that aren't so different from Ashton, guess you'll you'll places like it in all cities. It just, follows people, you know. Its always there." He took a breath as cool breeze blew in, closing his eyes as he did.

"You ever, see something, that no matter how many times you go over it, it just doesn't make any sense?" he asked, his voice sounding distant.

Nyota cocks a brow. James as speaking all sorts of loony about city corners or whatnot. Was he under the influence of some sort of drug or did he just take a blow to the head that left him screwy.

"You sure your fine? Caused you sounded like you smoked a bag of weed with everything your blabbering on about." groaned Nyota, rolling her brightly eyes at him. She lets out a huff, training her eyes hard onto James and snaps her fingers just in front of his face to get him back into reality. "Reality check one two three... you still with me James? Your not making a lick of sense to me so whatever it is that has your head in a scramble you should probably just give it a rest dork. Now should I guide you back to your bed or do I have to hail a cab for you? I can't just... leave you in this stupor now can I? Last thing I need to hear is that you find yourself in some... janky allyway naked and covered in peanut butter or something."

"Maybe its normal?" he continued on, his voice sounding distant and hollow, "maybe I'm in the wrong, maybe people are just like that." James tilted his head, his face changing a bit, he looked broken, the light in his eyes seemed to dim a bit, as if the the fire if his soul was going out.

"You know....I looked for it, even when others didn't see it," he kept going, as if the words were just flowing out, "I was never the one to just keep walking, always stopping, doing what I could, while others passed by." His voice wasn't hollow anymore, instead it had a bit of bitterness in it, something he'd never shown, it sounded wrong coming from him.

"Maybe there was never any point," so much had happened in such a short amount of time, things that made him doubt himself, made him doubt everything, the light, the hope that'd kept him going for so long was fading. "Maybe I should just be like that, just keep walking, don't look left, don't look right, don't help, just keep walking."

Nyota expected a chuckle but what she got was... something that felt hallow. She felt half convinced that her friend was possessed by the spirit of an emo who listened to one too many alternative rock songs. Heck, the last part sounded like he pulled right out of some song lyrics. Nyota knew that James had his moments and sometimes relapsed into something helpless but this... was downright weird.

"Ooookey... yeah the peanut thing isn't normal but... lets not find out if its actually a thing around." spoke up Nyota, grabbing firmly on James wrist and tugs on it "As your best friend, i think its time you call it night and go back rest. Your acting a little weird and... uh... starting to actually get me worried dork. Now if you going to keep walking I am just going to have to come with you. We can't have you walking onto oncoming street traffic because you feel too cool to look both ways. Cause if you get hit by a car... I swear I will kick you in the balls."

James had struggled with doubt ever since he'd arrived on the island, doubted himself, whether or not he deserved this new life, if he deserved happiness. But he'd always held it back, looked at his friends and smiled, he'd burried it all, because he wanted them to be happy. He opened his mouth to say something and then quickly closed it.

"W-why.....why are you my friend?" he sighed a bit, his thoughts swirling, "I mean....why do you bother with me?" He was an incredibly loyal and kind person, but he wondered if he was a good friend at all, if he deserved his friends. "You're a good friend."

His eyes briefly shifted to silver again, his new Fae abilities were popping up more and more often lately. Some of the lights in the area were dimming, so his night vision was turning on.

Nyota paused, she didn't quite know it was they even became friends. Heck, in their first meeting she threaten to throw a fireball at his fall. She was so used to fucking up any meaningful relationships that she never saw herself ever having friends. Yet... not matter how shitty of person she is James always stuck with her... and she always stood by even hen he is pulling off the bullshit like he is doing now. It was strange friendship... born out of them having no one less when they first arrived. Even when they began to meet other people, they always stuck close to each other and they learned to depend on each other. Its what friendships are for right? To have at least one person to stick by you even when the world has it out for you.

"Jeez... I dunno... I wanted to shoot off that stupid head of yours when we first met." shrugged Nyota before giving a playful smirk "I am so used to driving people away but somehow you decided to stick with me even if I can bee an ass at times. I'm your friend because you reached out to me as friend.. something I never really had. So I guess we now stuck with each other." laughed Nyota. She takes the time to reflect on all of the amazing adventures they had with each other; going out to exercise, being dragged along to parties, entering the space station, telling of those girls at the beach and all of the episodes of Star Trek they watched together.

"Ahhh... well give yourself some credit too. Your a good friend too you know... heck... I... I hate to admit but... in some ways your better than me. You like... stick by me even I sometimes think I don't deserve it." admitted Nyota. She smile to James, not the confident smug smile she usually wears but a bright a jovial one, a rare earnest smile.

"Ah fuck... look what you done... you got me all sappy eyed." grumbled Nyota, wiping off a stray tear from her tear tear ducts but still smiling like a loon. She shakes her head a little, then looks back to James.

"Right... ummm pretend that didn't happen. I have a reputation to maintain. Now... can I take you away from this place now?"
