He was quiet for a moment. "Fair trade," he said with a nod then. "You first though."

"Ok deal. Ever since I was born demons have been attacking my family. Killed two of my brothers. My family didn‘t know why for a long time, but they figured out that the demons wanted me not anyone else. So they sent me here." Isabelle said frowning. "Your turn."

He looked at her with a weird expression for a second and then shrugged. "Well compared to that I'm boring. My mom freaked when she found out I could control fire at my eighth birthday party and sent me off to an orphanage. If people made mad, their beds would mysteriously catch on fire or something. Never could trace it back to me. New headmistress came along and finally linked it to me. She told me if I was good, she'd send me here. Anywhere was better than there at the time." He looked back out over the lake. "I had two sisters, one older and one younger. I wonder where they are what they're doing now," he said aloud, more to himself than Isabelle really.

"Yeah? I have three sisters. Or at least I hope I still have three. A baby brother too, I wonder if he learned how to walk yet." Isabelle said she was letting her mind wander. Sometimes she wished she was 'normal', but in her family normal meant having powers. Because they all did.

"Big family, huh? That was, what? seven kids altogether? My mom had three and that was it. We still have no clue where my powers came from. My older sister's father didn't have 'em, my little sister's and my father didn't have 'em, my mom didn't have 'em. And shortly after my little sister was born my mom remarried to a great guy. Loved my step-dad to death, but he died. Times got hard and then I was shipped off. Probably made things easier without an extra kid around."

"It’s only five........now anyway." Isabelle said harshly looking away. Isabelle tried forgetting she had two brothers, just knowing they were dead because of her, hurt to much. Isabelle felt so much pain and she got really moody when she thought about them. "Just five."

"Sorry," he muttered. Now he felt stupid. She obviously felt bad about the other two brothers. Mentally, he slapped himself. "I really am," he said again. "You can hit me if you want," he joked lightly, trying to lighten the mood. "You know how sensitive we guys are. No brain at all." He smiled at her, hoping she'd feel better. He'd only suggested the hitting because it usually made his older sister feel better.

Isabelle sighed, she knew he didn’t mean to. Isabelle sometimes just couldn’t control it, she just said things without thinking. "I should hit you, but I’m not going to." Isabelle said with a small smile. At least he tried to make her feel better. "But your right about that no brain thing, most guys don’t."

"It's just one a few ways to tell boys from girls. My sister, Jennifer, the older one, told me so when I was little. I asked her the differences between the two and she said boys don't have brains or sensibilities. And... well, I'm sure you know the rest." He smiled a sly smile and looked at his notebook between them. "I have a picture of them. It's old. I had a photograph that I drew it from." He picked up his notebook and flipped to one of the first pages. There was a penciled black and white drawing of a family of five in front of a large oak tree with horses in the back ground. "This here's my step-dad. Wonderful guy. That's Jennifer, and Brittany, my little sister. This here's my mom. We all called her Kristy. The picture was taken at my step-dad's sister's place. She bred horses."

Isabelle leaned in to look at the picture he drew, Isabelle could tell he was really talented. "They look........happy." Isabelle said. Her family was always worried when the next demon was going to attack them, so they never really had many happy family pictures or any happy 'family moments'. "I'm sure they miss you." Isabelle said.
