Looking for a room..?

Lost, confused, and wandering, Enelya looked around, looking for either a room, or a roommate to take her in. Feeling a bit on the outside of things, Enelya was trying hard to keep optimistic, just nobody knew who she was right now, right?

"What if no one likes me?" she said to Archimedes, self doubting herself.
Archie rolled his big eyes, and looked up at her from her shoulder where he was standing. "If no one likes you, thats their fault, I think your a wonderful person."

He always did know how to make her smile, and maybe that was why he was her best friend. They had been friends ever seen he had hatched, when she was just 6 years old, where she found him, in her backyard. Enelya didn't remember much of her past, but who could forget where they met their best friend?

The halls seemed deserted, as Enelya turned several corners, and looked around. Frustrated, she sat down, and frowned. Archie crawled down from her shoulder, and stood up looking straight up at her. He gave her the "You better not be giving up now, or I'll have to hit you" look, he always gave her. She smirked, and closed her eyes, pondering if anyone would find her here, and maybe try and be her friend...

Robin was wandering the halls, wondering if dorm room 107 actually existed or if someone was playing a cruel joke on her. Judging from the amount of time spent she'd spent searching for it, she was beginning to suspect the latter. Which would suck, especially if she'd have to go all the way back to wherever it was they gave her the number to yell at them...

Her boots made the most wonderful echo in the deserted halls - for a few moments she was mesmerized, and when the spell was finally broken the door on her right told her she was still thirty-two off. Well, at least that meant she was close... Sort of. She tugged at a lock of purple and brown hair that had somehow fallen from the confines of her battered baseball cap, hand freezing for a second in the middle of tucking it behind her ear because she'd just noticed the girl. She was sitting far enough down the hall that she thought she might be more or less outside her room; Robin frowned, walking towards her with a freshened resolve.

She finally reached the girl, glancing towards her with a mixture of curiosity and mild annoyance. After second or two, she shrugged and swung her backpack onto the floor about a foot from the girl, crouching next it and sifting through it for her dorm card oblivious to the young woman and her small green thing.

"You got any reason for bein' right outside my door?" Her tone wasn't friendly, but not hostile either - she glanced up at the girl for just a second to show her she was addressing her, then going back to her mad search for her dorm card. "I hope I didn't loose it; that'd really suck." She muttered, almost forgetting that she'd asked the girl a question just a few seconds ago.

"Erm, I dont have a room yet... So I suppose I don't have a reason for being outside your door." Enelya replied, trying to sound somewhat okay.

She stood up, and introduced herself:
"I'm Enelya, you are...?"

((Sorry for a short post! Wasn't really a lot to reply to :P ))

She frowned at the girl, trying to remember what she'd asked. "Isn't 'not having a room' a good reason for sitting in the hallway?" She wasn't entirely sure if it was, so she shrugged and resolved not to say anything more about it.

The girl stood up, and Robin did the same, balancing the heavy backpack on one knee. She really wanted to just find the stupid card so she could go inside and unpack the thing... "Sure, Robin." She replied hazily, scrambling around for a few more seconds before pulling the plastic object out with a triumphant "ha!".

She slid it into the slot, frowning at the door and trying twice more before it finally opened. She threw open the flimsy door, dropping the backpack on the floor and turning back to Enelya with a crooked grin on her face at her victory over the evil dorm. "You wanna come in? It doesn't look great, but I think it's better then the hallway." She turned back into the room, not looking back to see if she'd take her up on her offer. "What's his name, anyway?" She turned yet again, this time to drop down on the small couch, opal eyes focused curiously on the small lizard Enelya had with her.

ooc: ha, sorry...

"You wanna come in? It doesn't look great, but I think it's better then the hallway."

Replying didn't seem like it mattered, so Enelya picked up Archie, and tiptoed in, not trying to overcome her welcome. She looked around, it was homy, and sat down next to her on the couch.

"What's his name, anyway?"

Enelya smiled, and answered: "This is Archimedes, Archimedes, Robin. He's harmless, so you don't have any reason to be afraid of him." Archie waved his little lizard arm and crawled back into Enelya's pocket. Enelya remembered the incident with the other girl at the lake, and didn't want to have a repeat of that accident.

"Erm, do you have a roommate? Because techinically, as of now, I am what one might call 'homeless'." Enelya asked her uncertainly, but kindly.

Her forehead dimpled into a quick frown, and she shook her head. "Yeah, don't worry about that sort of thing." She wasn't sure if she'd been clear, so she added "I'm not one for irrational fears," waving back at Archimedes before he crawled away.

Her eyes widened, and she jumped off the couch, flinging open the closet and checking under each of the beautifully made beds. "No." She declared, dropping onto the nearest bed and turning over onto her stomach. "Didn't they assign you a room?" She asked, barely two seconds going by before she realized the answer: "guess they thought I'd just assume I should sleep in a tree or something if they didn't shove me in the right direction," she muttered, eyes rolling heavenward. "Were those two unrelated sentences, or are you asking to be my roommate?"

"Well, not to be contradictory, but trees can actually be quite comfortable..." Enelya thought, but didn't dare to say.

"Were those two unrelated sentences, or are you asking to be my roommate?"

Enelya looked at the Robin, who seemed relaxed, flopped over on the bed. "Yes, I am asking to be your roommate, if thats okay with you, I'm somewhat lost in this big place." Enelya stood up, and starting inspecting the room. Two beds, two dressers, a desk, quaint. She'd never lived in a dorm before, or anything other than a small village hut for that matter.

"Oh." Robin considered this new development, unhappily crossing the room to begin the dreaded chore of unpacking. Not that she had that much to unpack... "Yeah, you can be my roommate. You didn't have to ask, but I guess that was polite of you." This was a step in the right direction, she supposed - her roommate was actually nice. She threw her backpack on the bed with the lavender bedspread, the one she'd been lying on just a few seconds ago, unzipping it and dumping out the contents. She stepped back with her hands on her hips, surveying the mess and chewing on her lip. She really really didn't want to unpack.

"Oh!" She turned to Enelya, a thought suddenly coming to her. "Don't you have suitcases and things? Where are they?"

Enelya smirked, turned her head in Robin's direction. "I didn't think I'd find a roommate this fast, so, I put my suitcase in a tree. I guess I should go get them. I'll help you unpack when I get back if you want me to."

Enelya made sure Archie was safe, and started walking down the hall, 107 she said to herself, 107, 107, don't forget! Enelya went into the courtyard, and summoned a large tree branch, down to her, wrapped in vines, holding a small suitcase. She waved the vines away, and picked up the suitcase. It didn't have much in it, for Enelya's family wasn't exactly rich. Poor, would have been the best adjective for them.

She made her way back towards the dorms. When she finally arrived, she set her suitcase on the other bed, across the room, and unzipped it, making sure all her stuff was still there. A few clothes, regular old hygiene things such as brushes, toothbrushes, ect., and a small black book, titled "Memories."

Robin nodded, pulling open the bottom drawer of the dresser and staring at it thoughtfully. She only had about ten pieces of clothing to her name, so all her things would definitely fit in just one - she'd leave the other three to Enelya. She folded them all carefully; if she lost these, she'd have to use her monthly child support money to buy more, and she desperately needed it for food.

She turned back to the mess on the bed, dropping two black notebooks in the dresser along with her clothes, a few hairbands and a worn giraffe plushie raining down on top of them. A toothbrush and toothpaste were stuck in the bathroom, which she thought was nicer then the actual dorm room itself.

It was then, turning back to the main room, not a care in the world, that she saw it. It was battered and brused, the comb missing half of its prongs; after all, it had been at the bottom of her backpack for more then a month. She picked it up, slowly sliding down onto the floor. She was still sitting there when Enelya walked in, sniffling and fingering a cheap bottle of purple hair dye.

She didn't even notice her come in - and when she did, she doubted the other girl had realized what she was doing. She cleared her throat, standing up and dropping the bottle back on the bed. "Got everything?" She glanced over her shoulder at the girl, arching an eyebrow in question and turning back to her things.
