She smiled. She liked this boy, he was good company, and maybe she'll run into him more at the academy. "If you were the big genius or the toughest guy, I'll have to push you off your pole." She said smiling slightly. "How long have you been at the academy?"

"not long; I transfered from a monestary where we practiced tai chi most days and did grueling rituals to gain tolerance with our bodys and souls..." he says remembering having 1000 or so needles in his skin pores and walking on searing hot coal and stretching his spine so laying on his chest he could plant his feet next to his neck... grueling indeed

"A monastery? You lived with monks then?" She asked, she always thought monks weird, and she wondered why most of them had bald spots on there head, it bugged not knowing why, but she wouldn't ask it, finding a stupid question, she could just ask Eben.

"the first big issue when I went to the monestary is my hair was long... really long so I shaved it as a sign of rebirth so that I could start fresh; then I let it grow for 4 years and its long again" he says wondering if he should do tricks on the wooden pole because as stupid as it may be it's also real swell fun

"Wow, your hair grows fast, in four years my hair wouldn't even be past my shoulders." Tear said smiling, and she looked down. Well, haven't fallen yet, but he made it easy for me, she thought. "Well, what fun... standing on a stick." She said laughing slightly, and lifted one foot but quickly put it back now, afraid she would fall.

"indeed it makes you think and stay on your toes; even if you know it won't fall" he replys before taking a deep breath

"Yes, agreed." She said, and once more lifted her leg, but a shiver went down her spine, as she wobbled a little, but she once again put her foot down again. "Guess I better practice on my balance more."

"hahahaha indeed; I think the art of this is a metaphor; the "balance" is actually where you stand and if you fall of this pole you could die however if this doesn't kill you the poisons would" he says begining to laugh at this

"Well, I guess I shouldn't try standing on one, after all, I don't feel like dying today, I haven't even see my twin yet, since being here." She said with a light laugh. He knows a lot, but Eben knows a lot, too, maybe a little to much, but he's good, he is actually more interesting to listen to then Eben, she thought.
