Laetus seemed to relax a bit when she sat next to him. His smile however, didn't return until she kissed his cheek. He smiled warmly at her and kissed hers in turn. "I can't really stay upset with you around, can I?" He asked, his voice sounding obviously happier. Such simple gestures can turn ones mood around so easily. He still cant help but feel he messed up in a major way, the fear someone got hurt because of that wasn't going to leave him so easily. However, she had definitely managed to make him ease up at least.
"Nope!" Maddie agreed, chipper. She leaned harder against him, reaching up to run a hand through his hair. "Being sad about a mistake isn't going to fix it, Lae," she said gently. "Being sad is just going to slow you -- us -- down."
