There was certainly an air of uncertainty about Carmin as he made his way down the strip. His comfort zone was long gone now, and needless to say, he was nervous about what exactly he was walking into. He'd never been to the Fox Hole, or any place anything like it for that matter. But there was no turning back now. He'd already purchased the nice dress shirt he was wearing, tucked into his usual school pants. He'd also told Fe he'd come and he didn't want to go back on his word. And perhaps, just perhaps, he may have wanted to go a little bit himself.

When he finally came upon the light up sign in the shape of a fox, he made sure to pull his MSD bracelet out and roll back his sleeve just a bit to make it more obvious. He imagined they might not let kids in here alone and just in case he'd try to avoid any issues. With one final deep breath, he headed inside.

With little trouble, he made it inside, quickly coming across Hella who brought him to a reserved table. He spent the next little bit of time, looking around. The area was odd, it felt like he was out in the woods, except maybe a tad more magical. He still felt out of his element, though he supposed it was a neat place.

Fe, who was all dolled up in a short forest green sequined dress that was slit up the side, was chatting with the sound guy - or gal - when she spotted Hella escorting Carmin to a table near the front of the stage.

"Talk laters", Fe said as she took her leave of Les, their new sound woman and made a beeline for where Carmin was sitting, a huge smile on her face.

"You came!" she called out in greeting as she made her way to his table. "I wasn't sure that you would," she added as she hopped up on a stool across from him.

It wasn't long before Carmin noticed Fe making her way over to his table. She was pretty dressed up, making her difficult to miss. He gave a weak wave as she got near.

"Yeah, I- uh, try not to go back on my word." He still could hardly believe he was there either. It still felt wrong to him somehow. "Besides, it's good for me to get out of my room from time to time, and it is kind of nice in here." He looked conflicted for a moment, then continued. "And I suppose I'd like to hear you sing." He looked away and blushed a little while he said the last bit..

"I'm flattered," Fe replied, pleasantly surprised when Carmin bashfully admitted to actually wanting to hear her sing. This was a first.

"And I promise, cross my heart and hope to not languish in obscurity, that I won't let you or your songs down," she teased, enjoying the fact that Carmin genuinely seemed somewhat more invested in being her songwriter than before.

"It's alright if you do, I don't actually care that much about them and my name isn't connected to them so I don't really have much to lose. I'm really just doing this for the money at the end of the day." He said that, but in reality it wasn't how he felt. He really did care about how all of this went. He certainly didn't want anyone finding out he was doing this, but it felt good to be talented at anything for a change. It had been ages since he could have any sort of feeling like that.

"Um, so when do you go up there?"

Fe just raised an eyebrow as Carmin spoke. She did not believe for one single moment their assurances that he was only in it for the money. She knew what it was like to be creative, to have that deep need for people to like your work, to admire it, to respect it.

"You can't fool a sirin, Carmin," she stated calmly as she peered at him. "You wouldn't be here if you didn't care," she pointed out as she stood up from her stool.

"And you'd hate it if I took your work and mangled it. Those poems are part of you. They are your babies. So.. Be proud of them, okay?!" Fe told him very firmly.

Carmin blushed when Fe exposed him, though he didn't admit to her being right. That being said, he never told her she was wrong either.

It felt weird hearing his work referred to as his babies. But he did understand what she was saying. In a sense they were like children. Except with maybe a little too much angst. Plus they were embarrassing, children weren't supposed to be embarrassing. Well, they could be, but you weren't supposed to admit it.

His voice got quiet. "Um, I'll try I suppose." He faked a cough. "Not that I do care right now, cause I don't. But I'll try to be proud."

Fe just shook her head, slightly exasperated. "You are so stubborn," she said as she put her hands on her hips and looked straight at Carmin.

"Fine. Act like you don't care. I guess it's up to me then to demonstrate just how proud you should be of your work," she stated, extremely determined now to put on a good performance that evening and show Carmin how great his songs were.

Glancing at the stage, Fe noticed that it was almost time to go on.

"Alright, I gotta go. Show starts in ten," she informed him. "Order whatever you want to drink or eat," Fe said. "It's on the house," she explained.

"I will see you when I am done."

Carmin bit his lip and his face was lighter in colour, but he held his ground. He wasn't going to admit anything. Although in hindsight perhaps that did just mean he was being stubborn. He huffed. Even if Fe could read him like a book, he couldn't let her know that.

When Fe told him she'd be leaving to perform, Carmin dropped his expression. "Oh, um, good luck. And sure, will do." He couldn't actually eat anything or drink anything other than water though, so he probably wasn't going to be ordering a whole bunch.

He wasn't sure how or why, but he actually started to feel a little nervous once Fe had left. It didn't make much sense though, it was Fe who probably should've been getting nervous now, not him...

Just because Fe had something to prove tonight, she deliberately changed up her song line up which meant delaying things a few minutes as the music was swapped around to fit everything she had planned.

"Good evening everyone. Welcome to the Foxhole," Fe started as she stepped up to mike finally and addressed the crowd, all smiles, and warmth.

"Sorry for the short delay," she continued. "But there has been an exciting change to tonight's song line up. Tonight, I will have the pleasure of singing a few new songs written by a very talented songwriter, who's new to the island," she explained excitedly, pausing and smiling as a buzz suddenly rose from the crowd around her.

"Les," she turned slightly to the sound woman and nodded, a second later the music began.

For the next hour or so, Fe sang to an appreciative crowd, who were at time quiet, mesmerized by her vocal range, other times they laughed or twittered enthusiastically as she got down off the stage, and playfully teased and sang to her fans and the bar's patrons.
