It had been a big couple of days for Sofia. She'd gone from 'might-be-pregnant' to 'definitely-pregnant' over a single trip to the doctor. She'd confessed her fears to Caius in front of everyone at the community center, including Caius's son, Lucas...which probably hadn't been the best idea on her part, but she'd been so frightened that she hadn't known what to do.

Sofia sat quietly in the passenger side of the car all the way home from the doctor's office, not even sure what to say. Caius was his usual quiet self, as always...she had a hard time reading him, especially when she was clouded with her own thoughts already. She was scared and excited all at the same time. This was going to change a lot of things in her life. Their life. Did Caius even want this to happen? He'd seemed happy, but...she couldn't tell if he was just saying that to calm her down or if he really meant it.

They pulled up into the drive. Sofia hopped out and let herself into the house in silence, heading up to their room. She curled up in the middle of the bed and sighed heavily. She just wanted to sleep. In sleep, everything was fine. There was nothing to worry about.

Caius' life had never been a simple or quiet one, he'd faced war as soon as he could be considered a man, followed by him working as a soldier in other conflicts before coming to the island. Scout work was busy and sometimes dangerous, he married, had kids, lost his wife and here he was again, like a cycle. His girlfriend was pregnant, unexpected but not bad, though he suspected there'd be a lot of adjusting to do for the family.

They parked the car and Sofia went upstairs, he went about the house for a bit to make sure everything was in order, to lessen the housework that would need doing. He was going to be a father again, he never thought he'd have any more children honestly, and many would say he was to old to still be having children. That said, he was taking it all well, he was happy, though he was worried about the kids.

Once he thought the house was in order, he'd grab a glass of water, and make his way up stairs. He'd slip quietly into their room and sit next to her, offering her the water, "how are you feeling?" Caius' face softened a bit, a bit more of his emotions showing through, "you can take time off of work if you need to."

She listened silently to Caius's movements around the house downstairs, her stomach going into knots as she heard him coming up the steps to join her in the bedroom. She was facing the door, so she watched him as he came in and sat on the bed, sitting up a little to take the glass of water from him and sip from it.

How was she feeling? "...Scared," she admitted openly, now that they were in the privacy of their own house, their own room...the children were all at school now, so it was just the two of them. She shook her head as he suggested she take some time off, "I need work. It'll help give me something to focus on, something to do with my day other than just sit around here." She leaned over to set the glass of water on the nightstand next to the bed and then laid down again, curling up.

"This has never happened to me before," she told him. She was scared about being a mother so soon. She hadn't expected it to happen like this.

Nodding, he'd wrap his arms around her, he remembered when he'd gotten news of when his wife was pregnant with the triplets. "This was unexpected, but that doesn't mean it's a bad thing," he'd kiss the side of her head, "lots of changes for us and the kids, but it can be a good change."

"Fair enough," he'd sigh a little, "work for now, but rest when you need to." Yes, he'd been through this before, not exactly the same, but similar, "need to sit the kids down to talk about it, see how they feel about things." He'd gently rub her back, "lots of changes, adjustments for everyone, but we'll be ok."

He'd give her a small, reassuring smile, something few got to see, "this is a good thing, something for us to smile about, be happy." Few expected comfort to come from him, but he always gave it when needed.

She relaxed into the comfort of Caius's embrace, sighing and nodding at what he had to say. She was quiet for a while, processing things, before she pulled away from him and rose from the bed. "Everything's going to be okay, I think," she said, and then nodded again. Yes, everything would be okay.

"I should get dinner started," she gave herself something to do and then headed downstairs to the kitchen to do it. Sofia hummed with thought as she opened the fridge. There were rarely leftovers in this household, and if there were, they usually didn't last long. She pulled some steaks wrapped in white butcher paper from the bottom drawer of the fridge and set about fixing dinner. She wasn't sure if Lucas would be returning home tonight, but she would make something for him, anyway.

He felt her relax into him, panicking wouldn't help anything, especially this. He kissed the side of her head, "it's still early, we have time to sort things out." There was a lot to figure out, sleeping arrangements would be easy enough, just move things out of his office, but a baby would require a lot of adjusting, at least money wasn't an issue. "This is a good things, unexpected but good."

Caius would follow her down, leaning against the wall and watch her work, he considered ordering something so she could rest, but he could tell she'd have none of it. "Tomorrow we can go for a walk, get some air," it'd been a bit since their last hunt, while not quite a tiring it would be nice. "Parks nice," they'd had to limit their time in the forest since the monster infestation, he'd had wards put around the house to keep them away.

Stepping behind her, he gently placed his hands on her shoulders, yes they'd figure this all out, he had experience, she had her motherly instincts. Nothing was perfect, but family was still strong.

She moved about the kitchen as she prepared dinner. Sofia was used to cooking large-scale meals by now; every time she was in the kitchen, she was usually prepping to feed five werewolves. Caius watching over her gave her a blanket of comfort as she went about her business.

Sofia nodded absently at his words, mostly focused on her task at this point, trying to keep the thoughts that were buzzing through her head at bay. She leaned into him as he set his hands on her shoulders and relaxed a little more, exhaling slowly. "A walk would be nice," she finally replied as she poked at a steak with the tongs in her hand before flipping it over to sear the other side.

She concluded her cooking and now had five large rare steaks to show for it. She pulled a couple of plates down from the cabinet and fixed one for Caius, handing it to him, then one for herself. She padded into the dining room to sit down and eat. Keeping her food intake up was important, especially now that she was going to be eating for two.

He'd watch her cook, he was a good cook, had to be considering he'd raised his kids by himself for some time now, but she was definitely better, overall she'd taken up the roll of caring for their home well from the start. "We'll move everything out of my office, turn it into a nursery," they'd need a crib among other things, "a little moving about and everything is set."

His nose twitched at the smell of cooking meat, the kids weren't home just yet, but getting dinner finished soon was probably a good idea, "I'll start doing more of the chores around the house." Taking a seat he started to eat, "I can cook some nights, the kids won't mind helping with a few more things." He knew she wouldn't let them pamper her, but he'd still help with things.

A lot of changes, a lot of adjusting, but they'd be ok, family always came with big changes. Soon enough they'd have a new addition to the family, something to be excited about, but it undoubtedly cause a bit of stress among the family as well, but they'd work through them.

Sofia sighed at her steak, "I don't want anything to change." She began to eat after a moment, chewing in silence. She was nervous, not knowing how the other children would react. "I don't think Lucas likes me very much," she said finally. "I worry about how the others will take this news. Perhaps you should tell them, that would probably be best."

She looked up at Caius and her eyes began to water as a wave of emotion suddenly hit her. She dropped her utensils and put her head in her hands, her elbows leaning on the table. "I'm sorry," she choked out. She was overwhelmed with everything that was going on.
