Photoshop was a thing.
Damien had this thought in the back of his mind, of course - it was almost automatic. As he peered at the screen unimpressedly, he noted the use of the coloring... it didn't look photoshopped. And Fantasimage hadn't been invented yet... The thought of encountering a giant lizard, though, sent a cold shudder through his spine. Those things could be unpredictable. Nevertheless, he pushed on with his idea. If this kid wasn't using Photoshop, wasn't lying to him, then... perhaps he could use the kid? To get tools that would be unavailable here... Damien was aware this was a strange plan, but if he could get even a bit closer to going home...

"Say I do believe you. Woud you be able to.... i dunno, pop back to 1811 and have a look?"

He'd nod, "I could yes, but I think the island was uninhabited back then, not much to see." The half demon tilted his head as he talked.

"But another location, like London would be a more interesting place to take a loot at," he'd chuckle, "it's my home town, so I've already visited it's past counterpart a few times."

Lucan would grin, "that said, I can only do a time jump once every five days, so I try to make them count."

He too was from London?

Well, technically speaking, Damien wasn't really FROM London originally - his hometown had been somewhere he kept intentionally vague - but he had stayed in London in that exact year... how could he have not seen the younger teen? Unless, he reasoned, it were to screw with the space-time continuum, something he was learning really sucked. That, or just the wrong place at the wrong time. Still, it puzzled him.

"How's about we reconvene somewhere in five days' time, and you can transport me to that time. I'll give you 100 cre - er, dollars to do it." He didn't care that it seemed a bit solicitative, this was an opportunity for investigation. Besides, when the kid took the offer, he'd be able to go back to his old workshop and take all the things he left behind. And maybe.... just maybe...

No, that would be weak. And futile. He would take his things back and renew tinkering, so he wouldn't need some kid to travel to a safer time.

"Five days?" he'd pause a moment, thinking, deciding if he had time for a jump, "yeah that should work, my day should be clear." Very little time passed in the present while he time traveled, but the trips can be tiring depending on what happened.

He'd tilt his head, "what about clothes?" he'd say with a chuckle, "you'll want some period accurate clothes, unless you don't mind making a scene." The half demon chuckled again, "we can't change the past or anything, so doesn't ultimately matter though."

"Anyways," pulling out his phone he'd offers him his phone number, "where you wanna meet?" He'd motion to the shop behind them, "we can meet right here if you'd like."

"Got some." he shrugged dismissively. It didn't matter anyway - he was as likely to show up in his old forge duds as he was in plain jeans and a tee. It wouldn't be the weirdest thing they'd seen. Besides, he didn't want to change it too soon without having done any research.

Damien took a look at the phone that the kid held out to him, squinting through the bright phone light. After a few moments of silence, he tapped the phone with his finger, and it reeled back to the contacts section, typing in a contact only identified as D.I. His phone number tapped itself out right in front of the kid's eyes.

"Hmm." His other question only received a nod in agreement.

"Excellent," he was a bit excited now, it'd been a while since he'd taken someone for a time jump. "We'll have a bit of fun in jolly old London," it was always a bit strange seeing his home town as it was so long ago.

"Ah, buy first," he'd nod to the snow falling in front of them, "let me get you home first, taxis are struggling and it doesn't look like the winter weather is gonna let up anytime soon." The snow had generally slowed everything down, making teleportation a very sought out skill.

"Grab onto my shoulder and I'll have you home in just a second," or at least very, very close to his home.

""Sure." Damien couldn't be sure if the kid was mental or what. 1800's London was brutally low-tech, brutally taboo as a society, and brutally ruthless. Even so, he supposed there was some joy to be had from returning to old stomping grounds.

But first, he had to worry about getting all the food and supplies off the street and into his house, which he couldn't do by normal taxi. Kid taxi it was.

"Beam me up, Scotty," he deadpanned, slapping a hand onto Lucan's shoulder.

Lucan would chuckle and then teleport. They'd both vanish in a flash of blue, it was a useful ability, made travel incredibly useful. They'd reappear in the same manner, just a short walk away from Damien's home.

"Here you go buddy," he'd say, flashing a grin. "Wasn't to disorienting right?" he'd ask, tilting his head, "it can be a little weird if you haven't teleported before." He probably should have warned him before, but he tended to forget.

"Well, I'll see you for our time jump," he'd say with a chuckle, "I'll take us to a nicer section of London, 1800s weren't exactly a nice time."

Being somewhat used to teleportation (via his machine, of course) and the disorientation it could bring, it mildly surprised Damien that he could still handle it well despite not having traveled for years. Sure, there was still the spinning of the sidewalk, but it didn't really bother him as much as it did the first time he'd tried it, back in the future. Even so, he managed to flash an unimpressed look.
"193 Landsdowne Street."
No context, no nothing - but it was meant to be a reply to his statement about London. It had to be a specific place.

"Thanks, kid. I'll meet you in a week's time."

And like that, he turned and started to walk up the pathway to his apartment building.
