Versailles nodded slightly to indicate she'd heard them.

"That's what I'm doing here. Controlling my reaction. I have a stack of homework waiting on my desk and I've gotten several invitations to parties over the course of the day. So I'm just not going to do any of it."

Versailles smiled softly and stretched her arms up to the sky.

"I'm pretending life doesn't exist. It's easy out here, where there's not a lot of civilisation. Just you, me, the water and the trees. Lie down with me. Try it."

Ah, yes. Pan had been pretending that life didn't exist for months now. Thankfully, they were at a place where they could actually do that. They had a home and a job but they also had very little obligations to work and even then the work had been very engaging. If they hadn't had work to do though, they had been wandering about the island, sorting through their thoughts and soaking in the natural space around themselves.

Pan laid down with Versailles and took a deep breath. They hadn't really stopped much to really take everything in like this. They had mostly been moving about, walking from place to place. The sensation of listening to the water and feeling the breeze from this passive position was deeply calming.

After a long stretch of silence, Pan shifted their body so they could look at the girl in the eyes again.

"I have a question for you." They spoke deliberately, their gaze steady and cool.
