Private Finished Less Bitter

Nathan hadn't hung out with a friend in a long time, so when he got the text he actually did some prep work. He cleaned and straitened his dorm, bought some human snacks for his guest. Despite his grunly demeanor he did want his friend to enjoy their visit.

Then he heard the knock at the door, stepping over it it, he'd open, seeing the spider girl. "Uh, hey," he'd say, smiling for a second. "You wanna come in?" he'd ask, stepping to the side to let her in. While the vampire had prepped for the visit, he'd forgotten one thing, he'd forgotten to put on a shirt.

"I got some human snacks for you in the kitchen," he'd say, "so, y'know, yeah, make yourself at home." Against the far wall she'd see his very large stack of books, which had many books of many different genres. @Pallas

He'd grunt grumpily, wondering why she was staring. "What about my shir-—," then he realized, "ah fuck, sorry." He'd grab a shirt from his desk and pull it on. "Not used to having visitors," he'd adjust the shirt, his cheeks actually blushing a little, realizing why she was staring.

"Anyways," he'd clear his throat, "yeah, people snacks in the kitchen for you, have some blood if you want some." The vampire would run the back of his neck. "I have a few chairs and y'know, make yourself at home."

Nathan was mentally kicking himself for forgetting a shirt, making things awkward. "So...uh, how you doing?" he'd ask, taking a seat, not really what else he should do to make his friend feel at home.

"I'm doing ok," he'd say, taking a seat, "I've never had people snacks before, but the shop guy said those are pretty popular during winter." It was the same shop he got his favorite blood drinks from, so it seemed like the shop owner knew what he was talking about when it came to inhuman diets.

He didn't have any seats designed for spider beings but he'd set out some extra pillows and blankets for her to use. "Uh..you said you read a lot?" he'd ask, clearing his throat, "got my books against the wall over there if you wanna look at them."

The young vampire couldn't remember the last time he'd done anything like this, just hang out with a friend. "I think I even have a few that the library doesn't have," usually if the library didn't have one he wanted he'd just order it off of Amazon.

His cheeks noticeably blush when she brought attention to the romance novels, and this time the blush lingered. "Well...y'know...," he'd grumble, "....has good characters....," another grumble, "......setting is interesting...," a third grumble, "....and the writing is really." His hand would go up and rub his cheek, trying to make the blush go away, trying and failing to act casual about it.

"Anyways......you read that one yet?" he'd ask curiously, "its really good, already finished it." He wasn't really sure why he felt embarrassed, maybe because of the whole guy reading romance thing.

"I...uh...heard that the write lives on the island actually," he thought that it was really cool that one of his favorite authors lived here, even if meeting him was still pretty unlikely.

The spider girl's cute yet smug smile made even even more embarrassed, the blush deepening some. "Yeah," he'd say with a grunt, "a lot happens in it, it's a really dense plot." His smile would appear again, enjoying talking about the book even if he was a little embarrassed.

"Wait....," he'd squint at her a little, "you....you met him?" His voice had a hint of both curiosity and jealousy in it. "When? He was nice? Did you get an autograph from him?" Bu then he was on his feet and had stepped beside her.

"That's actually really cool," the grumpy vampire would admit. "Have you seen him since?" if she met him then maybe there was a chance he might too.
