Scene: Some shopping area downtown Val's gotten himself a fruit smoothie and a soft pretzel for a couple birds he's chatting with

Lebeda Smirnova
Sipping her own smoothie, pineapple mango, and enjoying the weather when she notices Val chatting with birds. "Oh! You can speak with birds as well?"
Valerian Briarfang

He pauses and looks Labeda over, leaving the birds to tear the pretzel apart. "Yes, they tend to be fairly chatty, and have useful information."

Lebeda Smirnova
Chuckles as the birds enjoy their meal. "They are, always ready for a conversation." The birds look to her and she shakes her head, "I'm sorry, I don't have any food for you."

Valerian Briarfang
He inhales, he hasn't taken his eyes off of you Lebeda. "There's always several in the general vicinity as well. All you really need is some food for them. There's a hawk that lives on the edge of the forest that I'm particularly partial to speaking with."

Nods and smiles, "Yes! I can always find a bird willing to chat." She hums, "I have Alexei, he is sort of like my familiar. He is a swan." She adds.

Valerian Briarfang
"A swan... I see..." he kinda thinks for a moment. "That would make you a swan maiden then?"

Lebeda Smirnova
Curious head tilt, then she laughs, a joyful, clear sound. "I was born to one. Yes," She closes her eyes for a moment, remembering. "I was once a changeling. Now I am the swan goddess, and guardian to all swan maidens."

Valerian Briarfang
"That's a thing?" he blink

Lebeda Smirnova
"So it seems. When I was born it was foretold I would be the one to inherit this divine power. It seemed to have always been my destiny."

Valerian Briarfang
"That is quite a destiny. Though I can relate to a degree. I was born a prince, and fated to become king someday. The Forest even favors me..."

Lebeda Smirnova
Her eyes widen, "Oh! You're a prince?" She's all bright eyed, "How exciting! I'm sure you will be a good king."

Valerian Briarfang
"It isn't all it's cracked up to be, really"

Lebeda Smirnova
"It's not? Surely there is something you enjoy about it."

Valerian Briarfang
"I suppose it has its perks, but fae courts aren't necessarily pleasant places

Lebeda Smirnova
Sips her smoothie, "They aren't?" Curious, "I've never been to a fae court. Are they exciting?"

Valerian Briarfang
"I suppose it depends on the court. That said, jumping into a court recklessly is... ill advised."
He's still doing a thonk.

Lebeda Smirnova
Nods, "I have always wanted to meet other fae and see where they lived and what their lives are like. I know so much about swan maidens but so little about all else."

Valerian Briarfan
"Well, again, I am fae of significant rank in my court. I suppose I could... offer a hand in assisting with that..."
"However, this is not something I will do for free"

Lebeda Smirnova
For a moment she's shocked, mouth open in surprise, then she smiles bright like the sun, "You would? Oh that would make me so happy. And of course, what may I do for you in return for this honor?"

Valerian Briarfang
"I won't be king of my court for some time. I... at the very least need to be promised to someone when the time comes..."

Lebeda Smirnova
Promised to someone? Oh, like promised to help? She understands. She nods, "Yes, I agree to this."

Valerian Briarfang
Slooowly blinks, "Very well then"
"My name is Valerian Sorrel Briarfang"

Lebeda Smirnova
Blinks, "Oh! Oh, I have completely forgotten to introduce myself." She blushes, embarrassed, but quickly rallies. "A pleasure to meet you, I am Lebeda Smirnova." She curtsies.

Valerian Briarfang
"It shall be a pleasure getting to know you," he gives her a bow.

Lebeda Smirnova
"And you as well. Oh, I can't wait to see your court and meet other fae."

Valerian Briarfang
"That may not be for some time, however my entourage is here with me on the island"

Lebeda Smirnova
Nods, a little sad but understanding. "Your entourage?"

Valerian Briarfang
"Yes I came to this place with my closest friends. They are all very capable as well for the task we've set out to do."

Lebeda Smirnova
"They must be wonderful friends. I would be happy to meet them."

Valerian Briarfang
"And they will certainly be eager to meet you as well"

Lebeda Smirnova
Smiles, happy. "Let us make plans to meet each other, then." She's so happy and excited, it's adorable.

Valerian Briarfang
"Yes, we should certainly make plans for that soon," he nods and smiles a hint.

Lebeda Smirnova
He smiled! "Do you have a phone? I purchased one so I may better communicate." She pulls out her flip phone, quite proud of it. It's silver!

Valerian Briarfang
"I do, yes," he pulls out his own flip phone, it's black. He gives her his number. "I look forward to meeting with you again soon"

Lebeda Smirnova
She gives hers, and smiles at the two numbers now on her phone. "And I too."

Valerian Briarfang
He nods, "I need to go, I have things to take care of. I will call you later."

Lebeda Smirnova
"I shall look forward to it."

Valerian Briarfang
He nods and heads on his way

Flies in and lands gracefully upon the edge of the lake before transforming in a flash of light.

flutters towards lebeda "wow, that was really pretty!"

Smiles to Myca, "Oh, thank you. My, you're so cute!"

Wanders up and looks around"

"Pfftt... she is just being a showoff..."

twirls in the air and presses her hands to her cheeks. "Aww, thank youu~"

"As if you don't... with your sick flips," he gives Aedes a look

also waves at brewer as she buzzes around looking for a good perch

Smiles and waves to Brewer. "Brewer!" Giggles at Myca's twirling

"Well... with moves as fine as mine I deserve to be the center of attention... you know that. Anyway, I came to this silly party we have going on here. Now what Hugo?"

"So aggressive, sheesh. You just hang out and have fun"

Smiles at Brewer, "I'm so glad I ran into you. I have news to share. Good news." She added, as that seemed important.

Myca Frostfur
finally finds a nice low hanging branch to sit on close to everyone. "What Hugo said, just have fun. That's what parties are for"

Looks out to the lake, "Oh? Good news?

Hugo Rainer
"Could dip your feet in the lake, grab some food, talk..."

Nods, "Yes! Oh, but first I should get some food. I am quiet hungry. And the food on the table looks so good."

"snacks!?!" She careens towards the snacks tables with great enthusiasm

"First of all... no way am I going to let my feet get anywhere close to the water. Second, what food is there to for me to eat? So I guess that leaves me with the third option."

Brewer Cunningham
"I suppose I will join you," he nods to Lebeda

Hugo Rainer
"They should have something. I mean they usually get everyone covered. And if you stick with me nothing bad's gonna happen to you by the water"

Heads to the snack table eying the spread. "Such choice. Hmm." She takes a plate and picks up some bread, cheese and lots of veggies.

"Hrmm..."

grabs a cookie and sits on the edge of the table with jt propped up in her lap to nibble along the edges of it
"you should try some of all of it!"

Brewer Cunningham
He takes a couple cookies for himself. "So what's this good news?"

Hugo Rainer
He's heading over to see what they might have for a vampire

Giggles, "That cookie is nearly as big as you!" To Myca, then to Brewer, "Yes! I did not forgot. The good news is, I am now engaged to a fae prince."

stands by, waiting for Hugo to return

"i know riiiigh- what? That's amazing! Congratulations!"

Brewer Cunningham
He takes a couple bites of his own cookie as he considers this. "Well... that's rather surprising, but congratulations are in order"

Returns to Aedes and offers her a pastry. "Look what I found"

"Thank you both," Smiles, soft but happy. "I know it's quite sudden. . . but my instincts tell me this will be good."

Myca Frostfur
"i make quick decisions all the time. Maybe not marriage but still"

Brewer Cunningham
"My expertise is limited in that area, but I will trust your judgement"

"I do the same, always acting before thinking." She chuckles, "But when I have a good feeling I know I can trust it."

"Oh hey... I guess you did find something that I could eat."

"now we're almost all nibbling on snacks" she smiles

Takes a bite of her bread and sighs happily. "How could we not when it's so good!"

"Well yeah, of course I did"

"The food is good..."

"Well... good for you you." takes the pastry and nibbles on it

"The school provided the food, yes? They are so accommodating of various diets."

"I believe it would be bad for the school if they didn't"

"Yeah... though I would prefer a warm body to suck dry... any volunteers?"

"You can have... a little bit"

Curious head tilt, thinking. . . thinking. . . "Vampire!"

"I don't bleed..."

flashes Hugo a fanged smile "Oh!? Kind of you offer~"
"Half vampire but yeah."

"id offer but ... im not very big so... "

just laughs at Myca "You would barely be considered a snack!"

"I have not met a vampire before. Nor a half vampire." Looks curious.

"Really? There is like... a whole bunch of us around here... either you are not really looking all that carefully or you just arrive here."

"Huh... I'm surprised you haven't run into one sooner."

"Never checked it out though...."

"i would rather feed people with other things than blood. Like mushrooms!"

"Perhaps I have but did not know." Looks deep in thought, then pulled right out. "Mushrooms are delicious! Especially after a long day of foraging."

"Vampires stop by father's shop looking for sunlight charms"

"or hugs! I can give those too"

"Sunlight charms?"

"I can only imagine how far hugs can go to feed someone."

"Specialty charms that make the sun's effects less harmful to beings like vampires"

"Yeah, sunlight charms. For those that diurnally challenged."

Nod nod, thinking. . . "Ah! Because. . . some vampires are harmed by sunlight. I remember now."

Airswims over to the group with an upbeat flute tune.

squints "Is that a flying snake?"

"I think it's a dragon? I dunno..."

lands on the sand and nods at Hugo, makes mini dragon rawrs and then poses.

He silently watches

It's too cute, she can't bear it. "Indeed! So scary!"

"So... Hugo... what trouble have you been getting yourself into recently?"

slithers farther away from Aedes. Making that dun dun dun sound.

Head tilt, as she is not familiar with that sound. "How ominous."

just shrugs

goes back to making the flute tune when they're far enough.

"Trouble? Me? Just been getting ready for this party, what've you bee doing?"
"But what about you, Trouble?"

"Oh, nothing aside from getting people salty on the internet."

Smiles at Brewer, "I must be going now. I have something to see to and hopefully I will have more good news to share soon."

"Ah, I will see you later then. Have a good night, Lebeda"

She says her goodbyes then transforms into a swan and flies off.
