Today in her science class, the teacher was once more going over the experiment they were to be preforming today after passing out lab worksheets. While everyone was eager to team up with their friends, Iesha had no such peers in this class and was usually one of the last people to be partnered up. It always felt awkward have to go to the tell the teacher that she didn't have a partner, then either be paired with another socially awkward student or forced into being the third wheel for an established group. Today it seemed that it was no different as she once again without a partner. This time she didn't have to say anything as all she had to do was give the teacher a doe-eyed look and he quickly call out for a student.

"Anyway need a partner for today's lab? Iesha here still need a partner." called out the teacher, adjusting this thick spectacles as they scry mingling students until he spots his target "Jayden? You don't have partner do you? Go join up with Iesha will you? I see that there is one open station left just in the corner of the room. Now hurry up we don't have all day."

The teacher holds up an old wizen finger to the lonely corner table with test tubes and labeled chemicals already laid out in preparation for the lab experiment they where to conduct. Iesha, quick on her tail, slithers over to the safety of the corner and waits for Jayden. Though she didn't know Jayden all that well, she was actually a somewhat happy to be partnered with him as he was someone a little bit familiar.

"H-hi Jayden... " greet Iesha, smiling a little before the back of her neck and looking a bit bashful "I... didn't k-know w-we were in the sssame class... ummm... r-ready?"

Science class honestly fucking blows. Out of all his classes, Jayden did not like being in his chemistry class. He literally wanted to do anything else but take notes and listen to the teacher who was just extremely boring to listen to. Like what's the point of being forced to take chemistry when you aren't becoming a chemist? What's the point of even learning science when he could learn magic now? ...apparently.
Jayden just sat in class and did the basic amount of note taking that was needed. He half his focus was mostly humming songs and drumming his pencils on the desk. He didn't even realize they were actually about to do a class experiment until everyone starting getting up and grouping together. Well. Shit.

"Oh! Uh yes sir." He quickly stopped tapping the pencils on the desk and sat up more in his chair when he was called on. "Yeaaaaah. It appears I need a partner." He glanced over to Iesha and shrugged. He definitely wasn't interested in doing this experiment.
Jayden got up from his seat and grabbed the worksheet he was given for the experiment. He made his way over to the station where Iesha was. He was somewhat familiar with Iesha but he didn't really interact with much. So this will definitely be an experience.

"Yeah neither did I. I don't pay attention to anyone in the class or the teacher half the time." He smiled and held out his fist for a fist bump. "Anyway sup? You know what we need to do to get this done with?"

When Jayden brazenly admitted that he wasn't paying attention, Iesha couldn't help but be alarmed as it meant the responsibility was going to fall on her. She also had also had no idea how to respond to the fist bump and so left Jayden hanging there for a moment. Then, she tentatively brings up her own fist and barely has her knuckle touch Jayden before she quickly retracts it as though expecting retaliation.

"... u-uhh e-everything ssshould be ssset up b-but let me look at the l-lab manual r-r-real quick." Iesha then pulls up the manual and glances over the procedure "Okay so... we h-have 4 unknown chemicals l-labeled A, B, C, and D. Our g-g-goal is to f-figure out what each chemical is based on c-color of the p-precipitate w-when we all another k-known chemical l-like diluted h-hyrdochoric acid. Oh okay! I think I get it! Ssso first... we need p-put on sssafety googles and t-tie our hairs back!"

Even as Iesha was putting on her googles and holding her hair back with a scrunchie, the teacher called out to the students to remind of safety precautions such as pulling back loose clothing, no jewelry, tying back hair and googles as well pointing out where the nearest eyewash station was in the classroom should it be needed. The teacher also kindly reminded everyone to not drink or ingest the reagents even if they their bodies are fully capable of processing otherwise dangerous chemical.

"Umm... so can you get 4 test tubes and pour... f-five grams of chemical A? M-make ssssure to look at the l-label b-because all of u-unknown chemicals look just l-like a w-white powder." spoke Iesha as she reads over the entire manual while waiting for Jayden to get things set up.

Jayden was starting to realize that Iesha might actually be on the shy side when it came to classroom stereotypes, especially with how awkward the first bump just was. The way she was acting was definitely throwing him off considering she is literally half-snake but it was whatever he guess. Jayden just knew this was definitely going to be an awkward experience.

Jayden listened to Iesha as she explained what they needed to do to get the project done. He was able to get the gist of it, it was basically a matching game and figuring out what chemical was what by using some scientific procedure. After Iesha was finished explaining, Jayden put on the required safety gear such as the gloves and googles when the teacher started going over the safety procedures.
"Aaaaalright Captain. I am ready to get the supplies, you don't have to worry about me eating any of the powder. I'm not that stupid." Jayden gave Iesha a two finger salute as he went to go grab the needed supplies. He at least knew what the proper tubes look like to grab so he didn't have to embarrass himself by asking.

Jayden then grabbed the powder that was labeled Chemical A and carefully poured five grams in one of the test tubes. "This stuff kinda looks like drugs...." He joked as he put the rest of it down. "Especially if I cut a few lines of it." He actually thought briefly of doing that but he also thought of the what would happen if the teacher actually got mad at him for doing it. "Anyway uh what's the next step?

Captain? Suddenly she felt as though thrust into a position of importance. Honestly she would rather be the one following orders rather than giving them but she couldn't quite Jayden to properly follow though with the directions.

"Ssstupid? O-oh I don't think y-you are ssstupid. S-s-sssorry if I m-made you t-that." apologized Iesha thinking she somehow insinuated that Jayden was stupid.

Though she had worries about Jayden paying attention she didn't want him to think he thought of him as an idiot. Though... her concern about his ability pay attention did came up as he mentioned the white powder looked like some sort of illegal drug and joked about putting it into lines.

"Okay... n-next ssstep..." Iesha reviewed the procedure to make sure things correct, then spoke up "... p-pour 50 millilitres of d-d-luted h-hydrochloric acid into one of the t-test tubes a-and stir with g-glass rod. T-then o-observe the p-p-p-precipitation that falls out of the sssolution. R-r-record color and r-repeat with sssecond test tube b-but with 50 millilitres of p-potassium c-chloride... then repeat sssteps with 50 millilitres of acetone for the third t-tube and 50 millilitres of magnesium chloride hexahydrate solution. D-did you get all of that? I c-can go o-over it again i-if you are unsure..." checked Iesha as she looked to Jayden to make sure that he understood her clearly.

"O-oh no!" Jayden just shook his head now and tried to laugh it off because laughing definitely helped make awkward situations less awkward. Riiiiiight? "I didn't think you were calling me stupid. I was saying it's stupid to eat the powdered stuff."

He was feeling like this whole partnership thing with Iesha wasn't going so great, mostly because she was apologizing and also didn't find his joke funny. "Right uh, let's just focus on the experiment stuff...I actually want to pass this class and learn what I need to learn to pass." He was quick to change the focus back on the experiment. He wanted to good off a bit but Iesha definitely didn't seem like the type of person to goof off nor was she actually his friend.

"Uh so Dilutd Hydrochloric Acid, 50 millimeters, stir, and note the color. Then potassium chloride, 50 millimeters, stir, and also get the colors." He grinned at Iesha. "Yeah I think I got it! I'll start on the Diluted Hydrochloric Acid and you can do the Potassium Chloride. We can do two at a time to get this over quick and easy yeah?" Jayden definitely felt like he had a good idea for what they had to do. "Then we can do the next two after the first two."

He organized all the supplies and equipment neatly at their station and then got two test tubes and the glass rods. He set his half on his side of the station and then gave Iesha's her half. "Alright. I follow your lead. I just need to uuuuh....know what each color is supposed to mean I guess or am I thinking too far ahead?"

Jayden's insistence that she did not call him stupid only just confused her and made her feel more awkward. Unsure how to even respond to that it just seemed more fruitful to just move on.

"O-oh... umm... o-okay. Urmm... y-yeah that does sssound like a g-good idea J-j-jayden. T-two and two! O-okay I'll g-get ssstarted with the potassium c-chloride then." replied Iesha, waiting for Jayden to finish organizing things so that two of them can work on their two halves simultaneously.

Iesha worked with the potassium chloride and magnesium chloride hexahydrate reagents while entrusted Jayden with the hydrochoric acid and the acetone. Stilling their test tube mixtures and recording their results, Iesha found that both of her tubes created a yellow cloudy solution while with Jayden only the tube with hydrochloric acid created a white precipitate that sank to the bottom while the acetone appeared to have not done anything.

"O-oh... that's interesting... ummm... was t-that sssuppose to happen with the a-acetone?" questioned Iesha as she looked over the procedure. While she was under the impression that all of samples would react to create a precipitate... reading over the instructions the lack of precipitate can be just as important of an observation in identification. So... it seemed like they were actually okay...

"Ummm... I think that is f-fine. D-don't worry about i-it... l-let's move onto c-c-chemical B now. P-pretty much d-do the sssame thing as we b-before with chemical A b-but with B instead. Y-you can go and r-rinse the t-tubes and c-clean them w-while I get everything ssset up for the n-next part o-okay?"

Jayden couldn't help but grin like an idiot when Iesha liked his idea.

Jayden glanced at Iesha's test tubes and then his own. His definitely was doing something different which he honestly didn't know why, he followed the instructions perfectly dammit. "Uh...I think? Maybe? I'm no Heisenberg." He scratches at the back of his head and glanced over worksheet for anything that might explain what was going on.
"I think you are right. Maybe it just reacts different?"

There was no time for them to get stuck on trying to figure out what was causing the different reaction. He just wanted to get this class experiment done and ask all his questions after the fact.

"Yeah I can do that!" Jayden quickly gathered as the tubes and headed of to one of the many sink stations in the room. He did a quick wash of the test tubes and then used a paper towel to dry them off before heading back to their station. " Hey uh, do you know what any of these chemicals are even used for? I figured since we are using them I should like...learn more about them and use seem like you know your shit."

Iesha got everything ready for the next round of mystery chemical testing by the time Jayden returned with clean tubes and materials.

"A-ah your back! O-okay so we can get ssstarted on chemical B now. And... uhh..." Iesha looked to the list of chemicals and honestly she wasn't too sure what most of them were even used for "... I dunno. Ummm a-a-acetone is used in n-nail polish and... h-hydrochloric acid is used in b-batteries? Or... was that sssulferic acid..."

Iesha scratched her head for a moment as she tried to recall, but then remembered that she was in the middle of an experiment.

"O-oh umm... we ssshould finish this e-experiment first. Sssoo.. umm... s-s-same procedure as l-last time."

Just as last time, Iesha tested the chemical B samples with the potassium chloride and the magnesium while Jayden was left with the hydrochoric acid and the acetone. After stirring up their samples Jayden will find the hydrochoric acid sample bubble and fizz in bright orange solution that quickly turns dark brown and warm to the touch while the acetone sample has no visible reaction. For Iesha, only magnesium chloride seemed to react with a light blue precipitate coming out with nothing seemed to happen with the tube with the potassium chloride. Iesha holds her lip, looking a bit worried as she starts to doubt herself.

"Umm... okay... ssso..." Iesha starts recording the results, then looks to the tubes, then back to Jayden "Ummm... ssshould we c-call over the t-teacher? M-make sure things are o-okay? Or... ssshould we just d-do the last part of the e-experiment? I'm... just n-not sure about tubes w-where we had no reaction..."

For things with really scientific sounding names he was kinda expecting something a little more than just nail polish and battery acid.
"That's interesting but yeah you are right. We should just focus on getting this done first."

Iesha starting to look worried only made Jayden worry. He read over the worksheet again to make sure that he didn't miss anything. If only he had taken notes earlier, the worksheet didn't exactly go into as much detail as he wanted it to do.

"Uuuuh..." Jayden took a look around the room to try and spot if anyone else was having the same thing happening for them. He then glanced over to the teacher before returning his attention back to his and Iesha's expirement. He wasn't exactly sure if they were on the right track and if Iesha also wasn't sure then he figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. "Yeah. We should probably get the teacher, we don't want to keep doing something wrong the entire time. We also can't properly learn whatever we are doing if we also can't get it right."
