Magic Book/Pencil: With the help of a special book and pencil, Nessie is able to bring her drawings to life and control them. This feat can only be accomplished with the specific book and pencil combined. Nessie can create life-sized, three-dimensional creatures or objects by drawing them in miniature size with the pencil and dumping them out from the book. She can control any living creatures she creates with her mind, as they cannot act independently. Anything that has been created by the drawings appears in greyscale, and can be put back into the book by closing the book on the creation, which returns them to their original two-dimensional state. They may also be destroyed by dumping liquid on the creature or object, upon which they will melt and disappear forever until they are re-drawn. She must understand what the creature is and how it works (i.e. she cannot create an entire new universe from her drawings, or create impossible new beings). Nessie can conjure up and control up to one "living" creature or three inanimate objects at a time.

Anna and James own magical mood bracelets that are linked to one another, changing colors depending on the mood of the other person, so they can tell how the other person is feeling whether they are together or not.
The moods/colors coordinate as follows:
Blue: Happy/Calm
Purple: In Love
Yellow: Tired
Red: Angry
Black: Sad
Pink: Playful
Grey: One or both bracelets are not being worn.
