Kiyoko Hanasaki

Kiyoko is a petite Japanese girl with the small but deceptively strong body of a gymnast. She stands at 5’ with shoulder-length black hair and brown eyes. She likes to wear soft, feminine clothing and pastel colors. She has a baby face and is often mistaken for being younger than she is.

In her magical girl form, she takes on a cute, circus-themed persona. She gains an elaborate outfit that’s glittery as can be, in shades of purple and teal. Her hair becomes much curlier. She has dramatic makeup on her face that semi-hides her identity (you know how it goes—magical girls don’t tend to hide their identity much).

There is a swarm of purple butterflies that always follows her in her magical girl form.​

Kiyoko may seem shy at first, but once she warms up she’s a very bouncy and playful person. Sometimes she is prone to being vague, especially if she thinks she might start conflict. A total pacifist, Kiyoko rarely ever yells or becomes irritated—patient to almost an irrational degree.

She is part of the Hanasaki Troupe, and is known for her performances featuring acrobatics, singing, dancing, and her color powers. Despite her popularity, she has remained humble and friendly to everyone. She is a passionate and diligent performer, and her work comes first. She is highly disciplined, and the Troupe is the highest priority in her life. As a result, she had not spend much time socializing and does not have many friends outside the Troupe at all. While she does go to Starlight Academy, she lives off campus and only goes to school part time due to her busy performance schedule.

Worried she has become a bit too reclusive, Kiyoko has started making an effort to meet new people and be more active at the school—when she has time, that is.

As her magical girl persona, Dazzling Circus Girl Kiyoko-chan, she is basically a human with some extra.

When she is her ‘ordinary’ human self, she is just like any average teenage girl (albeit a rather strong and flexible one compared to the average due to her acrobatic skills). When she transforms into her magical girl form, she is twice as strong, twice as fast, and more durable than a girl of her size would be.

Small wounds heal very quickly, while more severe wounds may cause her strength to diminish but she will have the durability to continue fighting until her energy is entirely drained and she has no choice but to transform back into her regular human form.

Kiyoko is able to utilize her magical girl form for up to 20 hours. This includes if she uses it on and off, as she does for shows. So if she uses her magical girl form for an hour during a show, she still has 19 hours left she can still use. Once her 20 hours are up, she needs a full 24 hours to recharge before she can use it again.

Because being a magical girl requires being, well, a young girl, Kiyoko's powers will start to diminish as she gets older just as her mother's did. She may not lose them entirely, but they will become less effective as she starts to go through her 20s. This is not a concern she has currently as she is still a teenager, but it is still something she thinks about often--making use of her powers to entertain while they are at their ideal, peek performance.

While Kiyoko has a weakness to demon-related powers, she seems to have an exception to lust demons and is not effected by lust-related abilities.​

Kiyoko was born and raised on the island. Her life was peaceful for the most part, except for the death of her father when she was still fairly young. Her mother, Chou, was devastated by his death and for a long time struggled to cope—needing help from others to raise her children.

In her child and younger teen years, Kiyoko was made fun of in school for her ‘childish’ and ‘useless’ magical girl abilities, making her self-conscious. It started to get to her, and she did truly start to believe her powers were useless.

Thankfully, she had her older brother Daichi, who refused to let her feel that way. He told her that she had a special gift: the power to make beautiful things and make others happy. He encouraged her to consider being an entertainer, to make people smile with her talents. She was unsure at first, but soon enough fell in love with the art of acrobatics, and sure enough was the first to join the Hanasaki Troupe when Daichi started putting his first show together.

Kiyoko is one of the most popular performers of the Hanasaki Troupe now, and continues to work with her brother to give the best performances they possibly can to the residents of Manta Carlos.​

-Fluent in Japanese and English. Knows basic Korean.

-Like most magical girls, Kiyoko has a ‘catch phrase’ she uses whenever she transforms: “This world of peaceful colors will not let you stay!” She often modifies it to use during performances.​
