Khalid Zihrun

Khalid could generally be described as traditionally attractive, and could absolutely be described as very fit. He's tall (6'1") and broad-shouldered, in addition to being very muscular. His eyes are a bright green, and he keeps his black hair fairly short. He has a small beard, which he keeps trimmed. His clothes tend to be plain and functional. He has one obvious scar (cutting through his left eyebrow) and plenty more that are less obvious, either having healed nicely or having landed in less visible positions.

Khalid is a man still finding himself, even with his age. After a tumultuous set of years, he threw himself into his work, focusing on his job at the cost of all else. He has friends, but almost all of them are off-island, and he has to keep up with them through email or his cellphone. With his work having changed so significantly, he's having a bit of a mid-life crisis, trying to find himself and figure out just who he is without his job. He knows he enjoys working out, and he knows he enjoys the island, but everything else? Kind of a mixed bag.

He tends to be a social chameleon, sliding himself into conversations while doing very little to stand out. He's used to trying to fit in for his job, so the act of actually trying to leave an impression is alien to him. He does his best to be supportive to those assigned to his dorm, but while he's trying pretty hard, it's not like he has much experience with kids.

Khalid is an ordinary human, although he's occasionally outfitted with one-use magical items and other gear while in the field.

No warnings to speak of.

• Khalid was the only son of first generation immigrants in New York City. He was born and raised there, at home among the city. When he was eighteen, he fell in love with a young woman who turned out to be a siren, although he didn't find out immediately.
• He left his home, working at his father's shop, and when his situation became more and more pressing, his girlfriend invited him to move to Manta Carlos with her. Despite the objections of his parents, he did, moving to the island despite his distinct lack of supernatural abilities.
• He worked a string of mostly dead end jobs through his twenties, going nowhere and mostly coasting off his then-fiance's modelling career. They married when he was twenty-six, and Khalid would have said this was the point where he was happiest.
• Except, of course, that it all came crashing down around him. Khalid's wife was in an accident, killing her instantly. When he tried to pull his life together, he discovered evidence a prolonged affair--one that had lasted since before they'd even married.
• Khalid sold his house, moved into the dorms at Starlight Academy, and went back to college. He'd never had any career aspirations, but after some soul searching he settled on scouting. He was eager to get off the island, but unwilling to return to New York and admit that his parents had been right in their concerns.
• Khalid worked as a field agent for eight years, spending very little time on the island itself. He threw himself into his work, receiving several promotions. Not long after turning thirty-six, he took a bullet to the side in an investigation gone wrong, requiring for him to be evacuated and hospitalized. While he's recovered, the decision was made for him to take a step back. Instead of being in the field himself, he'd handle other agents, organizing his network of informants from the comfort of the island.
• To minimize his expenses, Khalid moved into the Starlight Academy dorms, taking on a position as a dorm parent.

Khalid has a moderate amount of savings. He's boosting them by working as a Dorm parent, meaning his own living expenses are covered by the school, and he gets a respectable salary from his job. He regularly sends money home to his parents.

Khalid doesn't eat red meat.
