Kenta smiled. The idea there wasn't a next time only crossed his mind after he had spoken. Her coming up with a plan so quickly made his worry die fast. "That sounds fun. And then after, maybe... Do you... like regular ice cream? I could tell you didn't like mochi much..."
Shay grimaced when he noted her dislike of the mochi. "I'm a bit of a picky eater. Yeah, I like normal ice cream for sure, but I can't pay for any right now, and I'd rather not make you pay for me."
She stopped at the doorway of the orphanage, looking from the door to him. It felt weird to be walked home. To talk to someone without any irritation in her tone. "So, uh, thanks."
"Don't worry about that." He told her. She could hear his coin bag jingle in his sleeve. "Money is just shiny coins anyway."
When they stopped at the door, he smiled at her. "Any time, Shay-sh--" He cut himself off. She didn't like that name, right... "I mean... Shay."
Money is just shiny coins anyway? Had he really just said that. Shay blinked a few times, and then smiled nervously. "Uh, sure. Alright, yeah." Maybe she was hesitating to go inside, more than she out to have. She laid her hand on the door, breathed, and all at one rushed inside and closed it quickly behind her.
Separated by the hunk of wood, Shay could breathe easier. She shouldn't have made a plan to spend more time with the Kitsune. She had to distance herself, lest she make a friend.
Kenta was a little surprised by her sudden movement inside. Still, he smiled, mumbling a confirmation to himself again."I made a friend..."
He gave the door a single knock and happily told her "I'll see you soon!" Through the door before turning, lingering for just another moment, and then heading for home.
