"Mm..." Kenta smiled. She laughed, and that gave him a bit of confidence back. For a while, he wasn't sure what to say, still a little gunshy. He didn't want her mad at him again but... "What... made you wanna go home all of a sudden?" He asked hesitantly. He had an idea, but if they were past it... Maybe they could do something else today. Something she would chose maybe? He saw she wasn't a big fan of the mochi. Hungry or not, everyone has room for a good dessert...
Shay wished she had pockets to hide her covered hands in. She hadn't been mad at him, not really. She'd been afraid, sure. How could she not be? She didn't want to see his death. Didn't want to live through it herself. She looked skyward. "I don't know...habit? It's a kind of comfort for me. I don't have a lot of space to myself, but the space I do have is mine. You know?"
Kenta watched her as she spoke, but didn't seem to get it. "I... don't know. I've always had places to myself I guess...." He looked down.
"It never made me feel like that... I always felt... isolated..."
Shay looked at him. Her face wasn't as cold as before. It wasn't warm by any means of the word, but there was a touch of sadness in the depths of her eyes. "Let's talk about something else," She said after a long moment of staring. She looked at her feet.
"mm..." Kenta nodded. "So... You've lived here your whole life... You must know some great places, right?" He asked with a smile.
"I suppose. I tend to sit in the forest, near the forbidden border and all. I know a lot of dark and isolated places. You're probably thinking of better places than that, though, huh?"
Kenta shook his head. "That sounds nice actually... I mean, I clearly prefer more populated places but... I mean, you found me by the lake today. Natures nice sometimes, especially now that its getting warm again."
"The forbidden forest is...a little darker than the normal forest. As suggested by its name." Shay bit her lip.
Kenta smirked. "I figured..." He paused for a moment, then asked "Why is it the 'Forbidden' Forest, anyway?"
"Sounds spooky?" Shay grinned. "I mean, we're allowed to go in it, it's not actually forbidden, but it does have some creepy mutants in it or something."
Shay paused and looked around. "So, are we going to the forest then?"
