Kenta shook his head. "I've never gotten anyone besides you to come here with me... besides Laetus." He thought for a bit, then added. "I think Laetus brought that girl he likes so much here. I think her name was... May or something. Haven't gotten the chance to meet her yet..."

"Oh," Shay said. She wouldn't have been offended had he brought other girls here, at least not for the reason most people would have suspected. She simply did not want to be wooed. Shay had no desire for love, friendship, any of those things. She had no desire to lose for connections and she knew enough about people to know they always left one way or another.

The idea sent a sharp pang through her chest. She stared down for a time. "I... need to get home."

"Huh? But its still early in the day... Are you feeling ok?" He asked, sounding concerned. He leaned over the table, reaching out to check her temperature by touching her forehead.

Shay pushed back hard against the seat. "Don't!" her voice cracked she had screamed so loudly. Her face was pale and fear stricken. "Don't touch me!" The idea that she might have to go through...No. She couldn't. Couldn't people just understand to give her her frickin' space? Her heart was hammering hard in her chest; she could feel it in her throat.

"O-oh..." He backed off and looked down. People looked from neighboring tables, but didn't dwell on screaming children long. He opened his mouth a few times to speak, but nothing came out. Eventually, he got up. "I'm...I shouldn't have asked you to... You don't..." He let out a sigh. "I'm sorry..." He walked away with those last words. The waitress from before tried to stop him on his way out, seeming concerned, but he just handed her something, presumably money, and headed out.

Shay's heart was still hammering as he walked away. She didn't know what to say, even if she'd have had time to say something. Shay felt...guilty. She hadn't meant to hurt his feelings, but of everything Shay feared, being touched ranked the highest.

She looked at the table, at the mochi, as a growl of frustration left her parted lips. She slid out of the booth, head low as not to look at the waitress. Shay ran out the door, trying to catch up to Kenta. If she were able, she'd step in his path, eyes narrowed and face stern as ever. "Walk me home."

She would find him down the block, seemingly zoned out as he walked. His expression was blank until she walked out ahead of him. He just sort of stared for a while before finally saying anything.
He shook his head. "You don't need to pity me... I get it. You don't like me... Bringing you there didn't magically make you wanna be friends, and forgetting about your power didn't help, I'm sure..."

"I'm not asking," Shay said. She wasn't, to be fair. She wasn't good with all this social stuff. This was easier.

Kenta seemed confused. However, he simply nodded and walked over to her. "You... confuse me..." He told her as they walked.

"That's good, because you confuse me, too," Shay said. She laughed about it, actually laughed. It wasn't a long or rich laugh, but it was there and it seemed genuine enough.
