Kenta's nap time.

It was mid day on the island. The sun was high, the breeze was warm with the early signs of spring, and Kenta had decided it was the perfect time for a nap. He laid curled up on the ground hugging his tails, laying in the shade of a tree near the waters edge, a perfect calm on his face.

Eroshay had spotted the young Kitsune and snuck in closer to examine him. She wondered if he still had her picture on him. She had realized only after he left that he hadn't returned it to her and was sure he had done it to spite her. Why did he like seeing her frustrated? How could that have been amusing to him?

She leaned left and right, but she couldn't see anything. How silly and childish of her to think he'd have kept it. And kept it on him no less. Didn't Kitsune have something like a star ball? Shay thought she could take that, prove she wasn't to be messed with. But it seemed cruel, like stealing a human's soul.

As she watched, Kenta would roll back and forth, mumbling something in his sleep and clinging tightly to his tails. He seemed like he was having a nightmare. All this motion had caused a necklace to slip from under his shirt. The necklace had a blue gem orb attached to it that shone despite not catching any light. As he tossed and turned, an occasional red mist would appear and quickly fade inside.

Shay watched for a long moment. She struggled with her decision, before toeing his side to try and wake him up. She knew how bad nightmares could be. "Hey, wake up. Ken, wake up." She dropped to her knees and reached forward to shake him.

It took some effort, but once she got to him, Kenta shot straight up, gasping in panic for air and a fireball sparking in his hand for a moment, flickering out when he realized where he was. In that moment, his necklace had burst into a deep crimson shade that faded back to normal once he realized he was safe. Once he caught his breath, he looked to the person who woke him. Seeing it was Shay, someone familiar, he quickly threw himself into her, clinging tight without another thought. Whatever was in his head had really messed with him. It seemed he couldn't even put together words.

Eroshay blinked in surprise, but awkwardly hugged him back for a second. After that second was up, she tried to push him off her, not hard but enough to let him know she had no desire to be touched. "Erm. Are you all right?"

He clung just a little longer before accepting her will and releasing her. He looked at her and shook his head. "I thought this would be a nice nap... But its getting worse..." He told her, looking down at his shaking hands.

"Your nightmares are getting worse?" Shay put some distance between them. She was still wondering about her doodles, not that she really cared about them, it was just the principle of the matter. "What was it about?"

He nodded and looked to her again.
"I've had nightmares for... Well, as long as I can remember. And... They've gotten more frequent recently..." He wrapped his arms around himself and took a deep breath, preparing to explain further.
"In the dream... I'm... I'm me... but also not... Its... like I can see through my eyes but... Don't have any control. Like I'm just watching things happen..." He bit his lip hard.
"And then I... Or not me... Everything's on fire... Blue fire... Theres..." He shut his eyes tight, holding back tears.
"So much screaming... So many bodies... All the blood... Its all over me. My hands are..." Tears started to break through.
"Its so clear now. So... real... It wasn't always so... So real..."

"Maybe that's the memory you're repressing," Shay suggested. Shay saw bodies and death in her dreams every night. What's more, she saw her own death. She shifted uncomfortably at his tears. Why did he have to go off and cry? She hated seeing people cry. Shay sighed.

"I...know how you feel. I have a lot of nightmares, too, and I see blood and death in mine."
