Katas on the beach

The sea breeze seemed particularly strong today. But as far as Alan had seen, the wind was ALWAYS strong. Not that he minded. It kept him cool while he was doing his katas. Which he was in the process of at this very moment, lunging and darting across the sand, his fist slamming through shadow figures, all of them shaped like humans.

Sand flew from beneath his feet as he leaped, his foot whipping through the head of one of the shadows, before coming around and taking out the legs of another. With a single flurry of fists, the rest of them vanished in the wind as if they'd never been there, and Alan was left standing there alone, back knee bent, front leg straight out, one hand down at his waist, the other held high and back.

He nodded, and straightened up, dusting some sand off his hands, and then allowing the claws at his wrists to dissipate as well. This was a routine for him. Every morning, he came out here to the beach to do his katas, because there wasn't really a lot of room at the school to do so.

Dorn had not been to the sea for some time now, he did go down when he wanted to be a little to himself. When he had much on his mind, just like it was now. The boy was dressed in a pair of old jeans and a shirt with that, as always the things was from second hand. But he keept all the clothes in perfect order so it was impossible to tell that little fact.

The boy was holding a letter in his hand and was reading it when he walked, he had read it over a million times now and yet he had it hard to actually get what it said into his head. He bite his lip and tried once more to read and see if there might be some kind of mistake, but no there was none. Dorn took a deep breath and closed his eyes for a few seconds, he stopped for a while before he opened the eyes and continued to walk along the beach.

Dorn did not really see Alan, he would most likely have ignored him even if he did see him. A burst of wind came and blew the letter from his hands...he tried to catch it...but this resulted in the boy tripping over a rock and landed face down in the sand of the beach.

But the flapping of the paper drew Alan's head around, and his hand darted out, snagging the runaway letter as he turned to head over to the other boy. He picked his way through the rocks and rubble on the beach, and then knelt down in front of him, the letter held out in his hand. "You okay?" he said, offering his other hand to help the boy up.

"That was a nasty spill. I sure hope you didn't hurt yourself. With it being such a nice day and all, it would SUCK to have to spend it in the hospital because of a broken bone," he said.

Dorn slowly looked up at the boy that talked, his blue eyes focused on the stranger and he seemed a little surprised, a little blush appeared on his face and he said something lowly to himself. He hesitated for a moment and then he accepted the hand that was offered to help him up. "Uhm....thanks" Dorn said lowly and rubbed the back of his head for a moment.

Dorn shook his head. "No need to worry....I`m okay" he commented. "Little chance one would break a leg from a small fall like that" his eyes moved to the letter and he bite his lip before he reached out..."Uhm...my letter?" he seemed very nervous when he said this.

Alan smiled, and stepped back once the boy was up on his feet, and then nodded, holding the letter out again. "Good thing my reflexes are as good as they are, or you would have lost this," he said. "Oh, and don't worry. i didn't read it," he said, smiling.

"My name's Alan Wickman. Alan Damien Wickman, Martial Artist Extraordinaire," he said, his voice making it clear he was joking. "Really, I'm still my own student," he said, nodding softly. "Bugs me sometimes, but I have to keep learning. A wise man once said the only time a man stops learning is when they plant him in the ground."

Dorn took the letter and quickly placed it inside the pocket of his jeans, then he let out a little soft sigh before he smiled and turned the attention towards the boy. He had not read it so all was well. "Well good thing you where there then" he commented, the teen then made a little pause as he was thinking of something he could say. "and thanks again"

Dorn listened to the boy as he was talking, he gave a little nod now and then to show that he was still paying attention to what Alan said. "Nice to meet you Alan, I`m Dorn...Dorn Cornelius Koon" he returned. "Nothing special...just the average person" he was silent for a moment and those last words was actually hurting him a little, but he made his best not to show it. "Uhm...yeah that might be true."

He tilted his head. "A pleasure to meet you, Dorn, but... well, why did it sound like you hate that little bit there at the end about being normal? I mean, there's really nothing wrong with being normal," he said, nodding sagely. "I would have given anything to be normal, and be able to stay home with my family.

"But I was born with my powers, so I didn't have a choice. I was told either come to this island or go to prison," he said, shaking his head. "But if you're perfectly average, then why are you here? From what I understood, only people that have special abilities that can't be explained are sent to the island."

Dorn looked at him and noticed what the other boy thought. "No...I did not react to anything like that at all" he said and shook the head. "I do not hate anything like that, it was....just the thing you said about you stop learning things...once you are dead" he bite his own lip and then he sighed a little and rubbed the back of his head for a few seconds.

Dorn thought it best to try and change the subject a little, so he focused on the question about his powers. "You have your key in the right pocket..backside." he said first and pointed at the boys waits. "The key is mostly iron based...but with some other metals. You also have metal on that belt of yours." Dorn giggled a little and smiled. "I control metal actually, you know Magneto from X-men...like that, I can also sense that you are really cheerful right now...I am something of an empath to"

He nodded as Dorn explained himself. "I see. Well, I apologize if I upset you," he said, and then raised an eyebrow. "Interesting little powers there," he said, smiling. "Can't say as I've ever met a real life Magneto. So you learn something new every day," he said.

He smiled. "Yes, I'm cheerful. It's a nice day, and I'm not stuck inside at all! Of course I'm in a good mood," he said.

Dorn sighed and shook the head. "No you do not have to be sorry, you could not know that it would make me upset or anything" the boy said softly and smiled in a friendly way. He then tilted the head to the side as the man talked about his little powers. He could not help but give out a little laugh.

"Well...I would not call them small....tell that to the people that had to fix the damage when I....uhm...pulled out the old pipiline from under the courtyard at the school" he blushed a little as he said this. He had just planned to pull up a little...but he did get far more then he had asked for.

The boy could understand why Alan was in a happy mood, it was a wonderful day...but then he seemed like a person on the move very much. He could do things Dorn never could. "So you do martial arts? must be cool to be able to do things like that"[/color] he noticed what he said and bite hin tongue. "Uhm"
