With a calm atmosphere comes a calm soul and mind, and with Topaz that calm atmosphere is always found wherever a vast array of literature is found. Almost all the time she could be seen in a library, bookstore, or practicing somewhere where there's little to no people just for precautionary reasons. As of today she's just reading a book on various types of magic that anyone can learn. It was weird how she was good at learning new spells but she wasn't all that great with her own gift. She knew something was very wrong with that situation and it needed fixing, but now wasn't the time to dwell on stressful thoughts.



She flipped through the pages as Pip sat next to her on the table sleeping while his tail was wagging and waving around. Each page seemed to capture her interest as she smiled more and more with each flip. She knew that much later in her school career she would be learning all these neat and convenient spells. It would definitely give her grandmother a run for her money to see her granddaughter know so much more than just setting things ablaze and controlling fire to her will.



"Hmm... I wonder if there is an easy spell to learn for the first timer." She told herself, her eyes scanning the page as she adjusted her glasses every so often. "Maybe some simple transfiguration... or just a moving spell. Something easy for me.."

Topaz never thought htat she would be reading books about spells that would make everyone's lives so much easier to cope with. She always thought that she would live her life as a normal human being, but when she found out that she wasn't human her world seemed to have caved in that day, and her dreams were crushed into unreachable and unfixable peaces. If only she had the lives her parents had, no powers, no troubles, just each other and their family. Maybe she was meant to have these powers though what force out there would give such a dangerous element to such a non-violent, clumsy girl? The answers might make themselves known soon she hoped.



With the thought of her family still racing through her head, she couldn't help but wonder how her parents were doing without her and feelings of homesickness began to take her over. Her grip on the book strengthened as her expression of peace turned to one of upset. She really did miss her parents, and her grandmother.



"May I sit here?"



Topaz looked up from her book at whoever it was that was calling out to her, though not for long. The moment she saw that someone was actually talking to her, she hid her face in her book. "Y-yea... I'm alone..." Well, aside from a sleeping pip but he was just her cat.

Pip's ears moved to the sound of what he believed was a compliment towards himself, his tail swishing back and forth slowly but his eyes stayed closed and his position unchanging. Topaz peaked over her book as she heard shuffling and the sounds of books being placed on the table, watching as the girl had taken a seat. The moment she began to speak again however, Topaz went back to hiding her face behind her book shyly. This girl seemed really nice and the last thing she wanted was to burn her books or worse, burn the girl herself because her uncontrollable flames.



A short pause after introductions later, she finally spoke softly. "T-topaz..." She then looked to her cat, still sleeping yet his ears were picking up every word both girls were saying. "That's Pip.." She added to it, before she carefully lowered the book yet didn't exactly look the girl in the eyes.



"Umm... I-i'm sorry... I'm not afraid o-of you, just... afraid of s-something bad happening.." That something of course would be her powers going on out control again, but the girl wouldn't really know that just from Topaz's words. She always was such a vague girl, even before she became this way. It's a wonder how anyone would understand her to this day, even her parents. "I hope.. you don't take it the wrong way..." She whispered to herself, her eyes glanced downward as if she was struck by sadness.
