I know, her expression told him. She knew full well she was trembling, that she was scared, but her logical side refused to stop analyzing the text in the book, translating letter by letter the passage she had seen in that book. If she had read it correctly.... Another shudder. Her logic pushed on. If she was right, not gaining complete control over her powers.... It was a call to arms... one that would surely endanger Roland. She could disappear completely at any time.... She wouldn't be able to speak to him, touch him.... Aswan could only imagine the havoc that would wreak upon Roland's conscience.
Taking a deep breath, she managed to calm her racing heart and briefly, a moment of reflection. Had she always been so emotionally-driven, so... weak? So... different. it was really interesting. And then her hands were unsteady again.
He will be alright, on the condition I bring my power under control, she thought to herself, as she steadied herself once more.
"It will be revealed once I am sure it is safe." And there it was - his kiss, his hand on her cheek, that look in his eyes... she had to protect that. Protect him. And so, with a reassuring smile, and a sharp click of her tongue, a quiet tsk at herself.
"i will, once I ascertain that this is indeed what I think it may be. Thank you for your worry."
A light kiss back on the cheek. "I love you too." Her eyes told him the amount of sincerity in her statement. And then the once-warm Aswan turned her head away, quickly scooping the book up in her arms. Considerably lighter than the former she had read, but heavy enough to exaggerate her steps a tiny bit. Mental note... hide this book, so that he might not find it and himself become scared, like she felt so strongly at this moment.
