Name: Juno Drake
Age: 17
Birthday: April 13
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Category: Student
Class: High School
Grade: 10

Appearance Description:

Juno isn't physically impressive. The only thing that's going for him would be his height in this regard, which isn't saying much when he's just 5'10". In fact, this makes him look weak and frail when he's also on the skinny side with little musclemass to his name. He has pale skin that has been lightly baked under the sun, eyes like the clear sky, and hair that drops to his waist, grown out to flaunt a quality that girls could envy, in a color that calmed his nerves when anxiety kicks in.

Alone with his thoughts, Juno drags his feet with eyes planted on the pavement a few feet in front of him. His normal look could be considered as tired, heavy eyes, brows that are at rest, giving him a sad if not pained expression. Take away the green and the length from his hair and he'd simply melt into the background of everyone's life, just another speck that no one would bat an eye to.

Personality Description: Juno used to be a boy full of hope and dreams, lively as an orphan can be considering the situation he was in. That boy is long dead. What was left is a sorry sack of worthlessness, prone to making bad quick and brash decisions. He is easily angered, but tries to keep himself from too much trouble.

He keeps everyone at arms' length, never really getting to know anyone to the point of being called a close friend. He prefers to be by himself at all times, and just tolerates it whenever he has to work with anyone. In school, the people others see as his friends were the ones who didn't talk so much and got the work done without getting on his nerves. He hated the people who just wouldn't shut up as they usually try to pry into his personal life.

While his coldness was effective at keeping people away, he still had some 'friends' who would keep him company at times. He doesn't say it, but those people know that deep inside he appreciates that they stick around. He's not good at expressing his feelings, and really he's just afraid that the moment he does, those 'friends' would take advantage of that, but mostly its because he didn't want to get too invested into anyone in case they'd leave. Goodbyes were never easy for him.

Species Abilities:

Powers:
Divination — Although it didn't work for him before, the breaking of the ouija board 'granted' him the spark of magic that allows him to read the future using tarot cards, scry using maps and a crystal pendant and invoke petty curses on people, but since this is still a budding skill, he can't reliably use them, and there is a large margin of error in his readings.

Dark stuff ahead. Kidnapping, murder-suicide and probably some more. You have been warned.

Biography: Juno is famously tight-lipped about his history. All people would know of him before arriving in the orphanage is that he was brought there by the police. They wouldn't say who he was, not even the caretakers knew his history. And they never would ever know since Juno himself was happy to bury it. He was in the orphanage at the age of 5, but before that he was with a family. His biological family. Things were simple back then. He knew his father was a mafioso, and his mother fully knew that when she married him.

It was honestly a loving family. He'd have anything he wanted, but if he ever crossed anyone from the bigger family (the mafia itself), he'd be locked in a room and starved. Things got too crazy when his father crossed the mafia, but instead of being locked in a room like Juno was, his father was marked for death, and so was his mother and Juno himself. It was either they all died by his father's hands, or the mafia would do it.

Juno was locked in a trunk while his mother and father kidnapped another child his age. His father set their home on fire and shot his wife and the child they kidnapped. As the home burned, he called someone from the police station that he trusted and told him where Juno was.

While Juno was protected from the blaze thanks to the trunk being specially made to keep whatever inside free from fire, he could still hear everything that was going on. The cries of the unfortunate child that stood in for him, the soft goodbyes said by his parents both to him and themselves. And the two shots that rang out followed by the thuds of lifeless bodies. He didn't get why all this happened. And through the keyhole of the trunk, he saw the form of his father in the next room, silhouetted against the raging flames. He was drinking from his fancy wine glass.

Juno called out as loudly as he can as the heat inside the trunk was unbearable. He cried out for help, for his mother, for his father. But no one came to save him as the house collapsed. He was dug out of the rubble, miraculously only suffering some burns, but he was alive. His survival never made it to the news. The person his father called took him to an orphanage far away. He was told that he'd have to hide or else he'd die as well. So for the rest of his life, he had to drop his family name and live as a nobody.

For a whole year in the orphanage, Juno simply worked so he could stay there and hopefully get adopted. He was a smart kid. He learned a thing or two from his father, so he got along with most of the other orphans. But he couldn't really make a meaningful connection with any of them as paranoia set in. He was convinced none of the other kids could reltate to him, that he'd just be an outcast, so he ended up being this figure that people knew but weren't really connected with. He felt that he was only tolerated, and that was fine with him.

But everything changed when he met a girl. He didn't know what made him approach her, but he was so happy that he did. There was just something about her that told him that she could relate to him in some way. Marguerite was her name and since the day they met, hhe had stuck to her. She became his only friend, and as cliche as it is to say, he was very protective of her.

With her influence, he started excelling. He saw that she was really smart and talented and he wanted to be on her level, so he worked hard. He was afraid that if he wasn't doing his best, she might think that he wasn't worth her time. That thinking courtesy of his father and his clients.

They grew very close to each other, and Juno was ready to do everything for her. She never took advantage of him, nor did he feel like he was a burden to her. They talked for the longest time, sharing whatever came to mind.

The orphanage held a lot of fundraisers, which he didn't particularly like before. But with her with him, it became tolerable. Enjoyable even. They'd snicker and laugh at the speeches the older kids gave, and just took part in all the fun.

Well, when he was 11, Juno and Marguerite were chosen to be the pair for a speech. The caretakers, as indifferent as they were, saw that they were getting along so well, so it only made sense for them to speak together.

A couple approached Marguerite, and they spoke and spoke. Things looked good. Juno wasn't worried that he'd never get to see her again if one of them got adopted. They made a promise to always keep in contact, whatever happened. Visit each other sometimes whenever they could. so when the couple went back to the orphanage to officially adopt Marguerite, Juno couldn't help but feel happy for her. She was gone for a while with her new family, and when she returned to pack her things for the morning after, she had given Juno a ring to remember her by. It looked like little chains, and looked expensive. She had one too that had small gems. This would be his treasure.

While she was out, Juno had been making something himself. He didn't have money to buy anything for her, so he carved something from a block of wood. See, in his drive to be on par with Marguerite, he took time to learn a few skills here and there. Kids shouldn't be playing with knives, but since he was so adamant about it, the shop teacher taught him. He knew Marguerite liked puppies, so he made a rough little ornament of one.

After she gave him his ring and went to pack her things, Juno went to the shed where he worked on the ornament and rushed to surprise her. Normally he'd knock, but that would ruin the surprise, he thought, so he just walked in. He must have startled her, and he couldn't really blame her as she was in the middle of changing, but... she just screamed at him, chased him out and cursed him. She had never done that before, and while a little surprising, it made his chest hurt. It reminded him of the time he was trapped in the trunk. He found it hard to breathe. That night he wanted to talk to her, but he felt so guilty and afraid that he'd make things worse that he never found the strength to do it.

On the day she left, he was looking on from his window, waving to her, hoping she'd look up and give him a smile or just wave back. But he got nothing.

His heart shattered that day. And the effects that followed made his grades drop significantly. It hurt his chances of adoption.

He didn't know who adpoted her, and he couldn't go out to look for her because the caretakers suddenly cared about the kids running out by themselves thanks to a recent tradgedy. He had to try something. He knew that if he ran for it and the caretakes knew, he'd be watched too much to be able to make any other attempts. So he did his research into divination to find Marguerite before stepping outside, using a map of the city, he tried to use a crystal dangling on a string to find her. He bought tarot cards and practiced on that, using some helpful websites online. He had a notebook that would drive any religious person to go for a witch hunt. He wrote everything on that since he had no way of getting a reference at home. That is until he bought a book on all these subjects and more.

He even bought an ouija board, and stashed it in the attic. He wanted to try everything, just to find this one girl and say he was sorry for walking in on her. That was all he wanted.

For the 5 years he was friends with her, and all it took was one moment to bring it all down. This made him wonder if their friendship meant that little to her. Was she playing him all that time? Was he being used? Why did she just leave him like that? Why didn't she call, write a letter, or something!?

It was just before his 17th birthday when these emotions boiled over, when he broke the ouiji board over his knee, which injured him enough that he couldn't walk for two weeks. Of course, the caretakers found out what he was doing and got punished for it, with everything they saw as cultish being burned. This only made Juno madder, but he couldn't fight them in his state.

Sentenced to bed until his knee healed enough for him to walk on crutches, all the questions he asked about Marguerite and their friendship swirled in his head. No one talked to him while he was recovering, he was left with his own mind that was already spiraling down the drain. It drove him insane. The feelings he had for her turned to hatered and resentment. His mind dove into dark places. He blamed the family for taking Marguerite away from him. He blamed Marguerite for treating him like a disposable friend and started thinking that she had done so because now that she had a family, she was above him. But most of all, he blamed himself for his own stupidity. If he hadn't walked in on her, if he'd just knocked, if he just spoke to her to tell her he was sorry, if he had just ran out there as she left! IF! IF! IF! IF! IF!

Juno screamed in his bed in the middle of the night. The lights flickered and everything in the room from the books on the shelves to the wooden furniture were all thrown about like a tornado had appeared. All the glass and mirrors broke and the pieces were thrown around. A large piece of a mirror was lodged in his chest, barely missing his heart. He looked down in horror as everything fell down to the ground. He saw his face in the shard, slowly covered by his blood.

Yes.

That was it.

Surely, if her family was gone, she'd return to him. No, then she'd only inherit everything, and she'll be farther away from him. He'd have to take her out too, and then he'll end himself as well, that way they'll be together in the afterlife. Maybe then he'll get to say his apologies. Yes... that was it...

When he woke up, he was in the hospital, but there were strange people waiting on him. They introduced themselves as scouts for a special school named Starlight Academy, in a little known place called Manta Carlos, and that he was invited to go there to further his education. They'd be leaving once he had recovered. Knowing that there was nothing left for him there, he accepted. The thought he had before he passed out returned to him, and it didn't sit well with him now that he had sobered up, that he was willng to kill someone he cared about.

Maybe... just maybe some time away from all that will clear his mind. The scouts had already packed up his things, and he found the little puppy ornament he was going to give to Marguerite in one of the suitcases, as well as the rose gold ring. He looked at the latter fondly before returning it to the suitcase. The ornament however, he tossed into the fire, and watched it burn. The ring would remind him of what was the best years of his life. However, that ornament would only be reminding him of what he failed to do. It was time to let go.

Additional Information: He has a horizontal scar on his chest right on the heart from where a mirror shard impaled him. His surname is Drake, however he doesn't tell people that and just fills out forms without a surname since he was still effectively an orphan, however he will always remember it.
