Kealani had set up a square of six tables in one of the unused art rooms. She'd put all manner of decorative materials on the desks to create banners, fliers, and posters.

On one sheet of paper to the side, Kal had been organizing a list of the things she wanted to make and how. For instance, buttons: pins or stickers? With a cons and pros list.

Since Alma's boyfriend, Iggy, had convinced her to join the campaign it was all that had been on Kal's mind.

Alma came into the art room, carrying a box wrapped up in her tail and a couple more stacked in her arms. Her eyes were basically permanently dilated now, fully elongated to their goat-like appearance. She was excited.

"Hey Kal," she said as she bumped the door shut with her hip before setting her boxes down. "Already hard at work, I see."

She grinned, flashing her fangs. This election was going to be something special.

Kal laughed nervously. Alma had already made her speech, and it was a good one. Kal, on the other hand, was almost too nervous to walk up in front of everyone.

"Uh, yeah. I wanted to ask you... well how did you pump up your speech like that? I know what I stand for and what qualifications I have that's good for auditing... buuut, I'm not the best at, uh," She rubbed the back of her neck. "Well public speaking. Or speaking in general."

In preparation, Kal already had her sheet of paper ready to write down what Alma said and hoped it wasn't advice about talking from the heart.

Alma's smile kind of softened a bit. She got to work pulling things out of boxes. Her own 'Vote Alma' stickers, pamphlets breaking down her platform, and some mock up posters she had made.

"Uh, well my aura helps. But really, you just have to know what you're going to say and say it. A lot harder than it sounds, but as long as you're sincere, people will be responsive."

"Listen to your heart?" Kal said with obvious disappointment. "All my heart is saying is 'run away.' I hate public speaking."

She glanced at Alma's mock-up posters and other items before circling "pins" on her sheet.

Kealani got to adding more to her mock-up. It was relatively plain, a picture of her, and some fancy calligraphy but she figured she didn't need a whole cheesy thing.

Kal was about efficiency, after all. She was dignified and respectful, and she used those descriptors in her campaign.

"Pfft, not exactly. I poured my heart out in my speech because I had personal stake in it. But like. Logic is a good way to go. Know your platform, talk about it as simply as you can, and practice so you don't stumble too much."

Alma looked over at Kal's poster. Hers was really simple and elegant compared to Alma's, all splashes of bright red against a grayscale background and picture of herself. The princess and the punk, they were, running together.

Kal didn't say anything for awhile as she worked on different things. Her working method was hectic. She'd work a little on one thing and skip to another, then go back. Like a spider making a web.

Once she'd completed her poster mock-up and her button mock-ups, Kal began to write out her speech in quick, sloppy handwriting.

"I guess I can treat it like a job interview... Sort of. A more peppy job interview. I'll want my posters and buttons to be ready before I get up there. I'll get a few of those up today while we work. Hm..."

She tapped the pencil to her chin before crossing something on her paper out.

Alma nodded, "That's actually a good way of thinking of it. Like, it doesn't have to be super passionate. That's not the only thing this is about. We need good leadership, ya know? And that's more than being super talky."

She went over and took a closer look at Kal's poster. "This looks great. We should put our posters up near each other so we can cover more space. Once people know we're running together, it'll increase our exposure."

Kal blushed when Alma looked over her shoulder. Other people seeing this type of work was odd. Kealani was not known for her art skills. She was an artist in a different manner. Which actually gave her an odd idea.

"Uh, want me to compose you a song? Or a jingle? Those are great for advertisement..." And Kal already felt it was something of a stupid idea.

She did not do these types of things. She swallowed the lump in her throat. "I know it's not common for elections or anything, but songs stick with people, and I'm pretty much only great with my music so..."

"A jingle? That might actually be really helpful." Alma falshed her fangs at Kal, grinning and nodding excitedly. But she also leaned down close to her running mate's cheek.

"Don't tell yourself short though. Your.poster is really nice. It's got a really simple elegance to it. Efficient, but also definitely a nice posh aesthetic."
