Name: Jane Smith
Age: 17
Birthday: March 18, 1999
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Class: High School
Grade: 12

Appearance Description: Jane is of average height for a human female, standing at about 5'5" when she isn't slouching down and staring at the floor. Her hair is a dark chocolate brown, normally fairly flat and unstyled. She has brown eyes and fair skin with a collection of freckles scattering across her nose. Her clothing style can generally be summed up as thrift store chic and rarely consists of more effort than combining the first two neutral colored pieces she found in her dresser. She's of slim build with no particularly outstanding features.

Personality Description: Jane is, quite simply, broken. She's been so used to being a wallflower that any attention makes her uncertain. She's frightful of most things, especially any attempt to single her out. She's the type to expect that any attention is going to end negatively, as it always has in the past. She keeps to herself and is quiet, polite, and non-confrontational. She's dismissive of compliments and consistently thinks that people hate her or are bothered by her existence.

Powers: Energy Blasts (known) - Light from hands with enough power to throw a human male of average size about 200-300ft, causes incredible pain to self. Range has not been tested, but will ultimately only be usable within ten feet of her hands. Does use lots of her own energy and running/excessive movement won't be easy afterward. 1-2 blasts within a two hour time-frame max.
Mind Control (mostly unknown) - Can so far only plant an idea in a familiar person/friends' mind, can't control when it does/does not happen. Familiarity is necessary, as it posts more as a consideration instead of an order. (i.e., a faint whisper in your mind saying you should do something but can be ignored if strongly against the idea, think of it as that little voice when you get drunk telling you it's a good idea to dance on that table.) Victim must be within clear line of site and looking directly at her for at least three seconds.

Species Abilities: Jane doesn't have any special abilities outside of her powers. She's never taken any special training or had any incredible talents from birth. She is of average physical ability for a human female teenager. Unless the ability to avoid sleep for days at a time with the use of caffeine counts as a special ability. (It shouldn't. The black-outs she suffers during these bouts are enough of a negative to keep this from being any level of positive.)

Biography: Jane hasn't had it easy. She's been looked down on for most of her life, shunned to the corners like mold, left to fester and grow until it's something of a problem. Her parents were the type of people who desperately tried to fit in by any means possible. The type of people who should never have been allowed to bring a child into the world. Jane was more bred for attention than care and affection, so once her talents proved essentially useless she was left to handle the scathing world of high school alone. It wasn't all bad. At one point she'd managed to make a friend who, being one of a very small number of people to give her positive attention, she fell for almost instantaneously.

Imagine her pain when the feelings weren't returned.

At 16, she was mostly capable of handling this rejection in a constructive manner- by which I mean she attempted to go on a date with him and controlled him into not just kissing her but so much more.

It's a great way to build up self-hatred, when your gay best friend is forced to sleep with you against his will because you couldn't handle him saying no.

She's not sure how she made him do it, but she doesn't want to mention it. Or think about it. Actually, it doesn't exist. That's how she's dealing with the knowledge. As fate would have it, that same night, on her walk back home to the crappy apartment on the sketchy side-street of her hometown, Jane Smith is assaulted. And as the weight of her own actions falls on her shoulders, she blames it on karma. That what goes around, comes around, and she'd deserved the bruises and the gashes. But suddenly, everything changes for her in a matter of seconds. When she pushes back for the hundredth time in protest a sharp pain erupts through her hands and it makes no sense at all but there's a bright, bright light that blinds her for a moment.

And on the other end of the alley, her attackers are sitting up in a haze, the wind knocked from them after the jolt that threw them two hundred feet out. Jane manages to get into her house but the pain is agonizing, the tears are pouring from her face and she can't decide what part of this is real.

But in the morning, when she's ready to blame it all on a dream, she gets a visitor. And her time in Maine comes to an end.

She's not sure if she likes it here. She's still uncertain if this is real or if she's living through a strange, never-ending dream. None of the creatures she's seen exist in her version of reality. She's not so much upset to be out of Maine, she'd always dreamed of starting fresh, but she's nothing special. She doesn't think she belongs here any more than she belonged in her hometown. It's scary, and she doesn't know anyone, but she feels safe, at least.

Safer than living alone in a shoddy apartment between two noted drug dealers. She reminds herself of this consistently.

Additional Information: Jane was legally emancipated from her parents at the beginning of 2016 and is currently in search of work to continue financially supporting herself.
