species info
Indigo Children are a race of humanoids who are born with a genetic modification granting them supernatural abilities. Their defining feature is a mark similar to a bruise in size and color somewhere on their body, hence the name "indigo children". Almost any ability is possible, but the they have divided them into classes amongst themselves (https://sta.sh/0stoi9qdww7). Said abilities will usually begin to show themselves at around ages 8 - 13 due to the rise of hormones, although some may show earlier or later depending on the person. Indigo Children are discriminated against due to their abilities, and very often grow up in abusive homes because of this.
appearance
Jacquelyn is mixed, but inherited most of their father's white genes. Their skin is very pale, but not quite porcelain, and they tend to have issues with acne on their chin and neck. Their face is small and square, with a nose that widens out at the bottom. Their eyes are deep set and a strange balance between brown and gold (almost honey, not quite). Their hair is light blonde, thin, straight and slightly choppy, and it's usually touching their shoulders. Their figure is mostly average, but completely straight and flat in all possible aspects. Their fingers tend to be torn up, as they chew on them when nervous. They have trouble with facial expression and often look strangely sad or confused, or another face generally inappropriate to the situation. Right below their left shoulder rests their psychic arm: a floating appendage of a greyish-blue substance that when touched feels to be neither liquid nor solid. It appears almost like smoke, and for the most part resembles a deformed arm. Jackie is still highly self conscious about it, and prefers to wear large sweaters or other long sleeves to hide it. Their indigo mark is right below their left shoulderblade.

personality
Jacquelyn is a people pleaser with a soft heart, and truthfully just want to spend all their time making their friends happy. They have a naturally anxious personality, and tend to always be worried about said friends and circumstances. They’re generally rather quiet and reserved, and are always trying to make sure they fit in and are doing what’s right, despite this usually translating into unhealthy dependence and an overwhelming need for approval. They’re strongly emotional and strongly idealistic, often having intense reactions to every situation. Jackie thrives off patterns, and is actually very good at scheduling + organising events and plans. You'll never find a more patient listening ear than theirs, and they're always immediately up to the task of assisting their close friends.
Trauma and PTSD cause Jacquelyn to have conflicting thoughts about others though. They have a severe fear of abandonment and that others will hate them in the same way their family did, and tend to lapse into sudden fits of anger/fear in which they lash out at those attempting to help them. These have bettered in frequency overtime though. They are heavily dependent on others not just to make decisions, but to form their opinions, take care of themselves, and feel like they’re doing the right thing. They are continually plagued by a fear of others and an intense want for attention and approval. They’re sensitive, easily upset and easily put down, and cry excessively easily. Open mindedness is not a strength of theirs, as they always like things to be done their way, how they say, inside their little box. Even though their help and thoughts could benefit others greatly at times, they're extremely bad at speaking their mind. They're always finding more excuses as to why they should stay silent and in a back row.

abilities
ACTIVE:
Jackie’s left arm is believed to be made of pure psychic energy. They can manifest telekinetic energy through it, allowing them to interact with objects from a distance like other TKs. As of now the farthest away they can be from an object to move it while retaining full control is 10 - 20 feet. 30 - 40 is not as controlled or safe, and 50 - 60 is possible but not yet advisable. While light or small objects usually aren’t any trouble, the more mass they have the more difficult it becomes. Lifting large objects or overexerting their ability causes Jackie to start feeling horrible pain in their phantom arm. It starts out as dull and throbbing, then intensifies to severe aching, almost as if they’ve broken it again. It’s very easily for heightened emotions to affect what they can move as well, and for the ability to work well Jackie has to remain as calm as possible. After a long while of training interesting possibilities are opening up. If Jackie holds their arm at a certain angle they develop increased sensitivity to light and sound waves, and can even manipulate them to an extent. However, these is an extremely new side of the ability and is highly unstable.

biography
(Warning for child abuse)
Jaquelyn grew up in a strict conservative Christian family, in a small town surrounded by equally religious other families. They had three older brothers, and for the most part their life was normal. Autism caused them to show developmental issues from a young age, with an inability to process, learn in normal public settings and react properly to social situations. Their parents refused to take them for a diagnosis though, and instead homeschooled them while trying to force them to behave “right”. However, Jackie knew they could rely on their older brothers, so by spending all their time outside with them they remained happy.
They grew more and more persistent as Jaquelyn neared and turned ten. They insisted they couldn’t keep relying on their brothers for every little aspect of life, they couldn’t keep constantly begging for their attention, they would one day have to prove that they could be independent if they wanted to make it in life. It didn’t take long for Jackie to develop an extreme need to prove themselves to their parents. After some thinking, they had a perfect plan. The four of them had always been warned by their parents to never enter the forest near the neighborhood park alone, since the trees were thick and you could easily get lost. If Jackie could make it in and out of that forest on their own, wouldn’t that be enough to prove they could be independent?
They snuck away from their brothers one late afternoon while they were supposed to be playing zombie tag, and began their mission. At first it seemed like fun. Jaquelyn had never been in a forest before, so the sights and smells were an entirely new experience. But, after half an hour or aimlessly wandering their mine began to take a different turn. What if it got dark? What if they didn’t make it back in time? What if they never made it out at all? What if they were eaten by some sort of monstrous animal? Panicking, Jackie began to run, and spent hours darting through the trees screeching for someone to help them. But, they had gone in far enough that no one would hear them.
As evening began to fall, they had a second idea. Whenever they climbed trees with their brothers they could always see so far around the neighborhood. Perhaps if they climbed a tree, they could yell until someone heard them? Excited by this new plan, Jackie found the tallest climbable tree in sight and began to scale it. However, as soon as they had finally achieved a height where they could get a good look at their surroundings, there was a cracking sound, and the branch they were standing on snapped under their weight. Down they fell, falling onto a larger branch below directly on their left arm, then to the ground. Said arm was broken by the fall and almost severed in two at the elbow. Their oldest brother found them an hour later and called 911.
Jacquelyn's arm was far beyond repair. They were immediately rushed to the hospital, and it didn’t take long to discover the wound had been infected from on the forest floor. Their arm would have to be amputated if their parents expected them to live. The surgery was successful, and Jackie was horrified by the experience. Once they arrived home they are far less inclined to explore, and preferred to cling wildly to whoever was at home.
It should have ended there. A few weeks later, Jackie started noticing wisps of what seemed to be pale blue smoke around the stub that had been their arm. They often felt that they could feel the arm again, too. Eventually these wisps began to gather into what was appearing to be a full new arm, and Jackie was terrified. They began wearing long sleeved shirts and coats whenever possible in order to hide it from their parents. As time went on small objects began to shake and move whenever they went near them, and sometimes they could even vaguely control where they went. Their parents were starting to wonder if they’d been cursed. However, when Jackie accidentally caused their mother’s kitchen equipment to fly out of control, they couldn’t hide it any longer.
Their parents were terrified of this mysterious smoky blue arm Jaquelyn had developed, and Jackie was terrified as well. They began to avoid them throughout their household while they attempted to discover what it was and keep it hidden. However, after they somehow managed to throw their father across the room when he shoved them away, their parents made the decision to lock them in the backyard shed until help was found.
Jaquelyn spent two months in this shed, with their brothers bringing them food three times a day. It was cold, dark, small, and lonely, and they were horrified by everything that had happened in their life by now. They wanted their life back, they wanted to freedom, they wished they’d never climbed that tree. Their arm only continued to develop in this time, as well. Once the ICS caught wind of it and decided to take action, they investigated the town and eventually managed to find Jackie’s whereabouts, and rescue them from the confines of that shed.
At first Jaquelyn was more than a bit suspicious of their new home, with newly inflicted fears of people and no idea how to react. They wavered often between screeching loudly at surrounding authority and clinging to then as much as possible. However, everyone chose to be patient with them, and insisted they were safe now. Jaquelyn began to adjust again to being around people who would care for them like their parents should have, and despite wavering often began to trust again. Their ability developed easily as well although they were difficult to work with, and they received a letter from the island at age 16. Proceeding to move there with two of their friends, they did not apply at the academy and are quite content with their life.
