Name: Ivan Taylor
Age: 19
Birthday: May 17th, 1998
Gender: Male
Species: Demon
Category: Student
Class: High School
Grade: 11
Appearance Description:
Ivan is a frail-looking individual, more than anything, despite his abilities. Standing at a mere 5'6", mixed in with an overall slender build tends to give such an impression. His hair is a somewhat messy, short style in bright blue, mixed with deep red eyes with, typically, a mischievous glint to them. Being young, his body is for the most part without flaw save for one scar on his chest in the shape of a clawed hand.
Personality Description: Ivan is somewhat complicated, just as any person, but there are.. clear contradicting behaviors often shown in his actions and attitude that stand out more than others. He's a clown most of the time, often blasting terrible music, being inappropriate with people, and overall acting like a manchild solely to mess with people. Getting mad at him won't do anything usually, in fact, he likes anger.
I'd say it's usually when someone offers him kindness that he shows his deeper insecurities, though. Despite his bold actions, he's not very sure of himself, and in some ways has a very negative view of himself. This is often shown when he discusses his family, and how he attributes himself to clearly being the weak link. When he panics, he panics. It's a spazzed whirlwind that cannot be unseen.
He's not entirely.. stable, either. Bloody scenes often send him into a panic, though he's gotten better at suppressing it. He's also prone to nightmares, and under high stress doesn't handle things... well. He doesn't turn aggressive, but he tends to try and hide from it.
So overall, I'd say you have a dorky kid here that, while he has issues with his inner self, is fun to hang with- but likely to get you in trouble.
Species Abilities: Being a demon, Ivan has two standard abilities typically found in other demons- those being immortality- though this doesn't mean he can't be killed, obviously- and a sped up healing process. Due to being a turned demon, though, his healing is not as effective as a full blood's, but it does mean so long as he rests it, a broken bone should heal on its own within a few days' time.
His blood is the source of this. Interestingly enough, if applied to someone else's wounds can help to heal them, as well, So long as it's not too deep a wound. Unfortunately, this has the main repercussion of burning horribly. It's not a good feeling, and exposure to too much of the blood could turn someone. Or even kill them, if the reaction is bad enough.
Of course, with typical demons, Ivan has enhanced strength. He isn't a superman by any means, but he can lift roughly a person of up to 200 pounds and toss them across the room if he pushed it. Anymore and there would be slight strain.
He also has the ability to fly if in demonic form, which is like his usual form, except with bat-like wings, a wispy tail, and claws on his finger tips.
Powers: Pyromancy: Ivan's predominant ability is being able to manipulate fire. He focuses on his inner core of magic, per se, to release this fire into the environment. It's not anything special, it's just fire, and usually used in large quantities. Obviously this is weak to ice and water and magic of those types, and surprisingly it also has a partial weakness to dark magic as well. It gets into Ivan's psyche and affects him badly, as well as making his core physically sick if the dark magic seeps into him. That said, it's fire- it's gonna burn and be awesome otherwise, unless he depletes it.
Due to becoming a demon only recently, the amount of fire he can produce in one sitting is.. limited. But he's working on it. Over exertion can leave him feeling dizzy and faint. Usually, though, he just uses it to make silly things or light his hair on fire- which doesn't burn, it just holds the fire in place.
Biography: Ivan's life began in England in the late 90s, son to his middle-class parents, Thomas and Janelle, and brother to his older sibling Harry. His parents weren't bad, per se, but they had a tendency to play favorites unintentionally. Mainly because, while Ivan did decently in school, and was overall a good kid, Harry was a star. He's landed a contract in the music industry for his singing and guitar skills by his early teens, leaving Ivan in the dust. That's not to say they didn't love Ivan, either, but living in a family where he felt like chopped liver in comparison really affected his ego, and he grew up to believe he was second-rate to most everyone.
He never really had any girlfriends, or all that many friends due to how quiet and reserved he was. He had Susan, a blonde babe he'd crushed on for a few years, but.. she was closer to Harry in age, and in the end she began dating Harry. While it hurt Ivan, he was likely to get over it. 'Sides, there were more fish in the sea.
Rather unfortunately, this one fish ended up not being just some innocent woman. She'd actually been a high-class demon who was prone to intense psychotic breaks under high pressure. And during dinner with their family.. it was supposed to be a happy occasion, really. They were celebrating Ivan's 16th birthday, and a neighbor had come to yell at them for the noise. Their dad, being a hothead had chosen to fight back. Tension rose, panic stirred in Susan, and by the end of that day, she'd killed that entire family save for Ivan. He'd tried to stop the killing, but ended up with a huge gash to his chest- the scar he has today- and being thrown across the room into a wall. The parents were the first to be offed. Harry was then taken after trying to get in the way of Ivan and her.
Why she spared Ivan, out of all of them, has always been a question he's pondered. Perhaps it was out of guilt, perhaps she'd just had clarity in that moment. Perhaps, on some level, she loved Harry enough to give him his final wish to protect his brother. Regardless, instead of killing him, she turned him and left him alone in that house to be later found by cops who had been all too late.
From there on out, Ivan's life was contained and studied, to make sure he was psychologically okay - which, on some levels, he still isn't but it's passible- and to make sure he didn't, not that he was turned, go ballistic on people. It wasn't a very friendly lab, but Ivan at that point was far too depressed to care. He learned to cope by goofing off more, and became very used to the aggressive responses he'd receive due to this. It became home for him, in those few years, even if the scientists were kind of jerks.
Of course, that only lasted until recently, as he's now been transferred here. The exact reasonings as to why were kept vague- honestly they took interest in his fire abilities. That, and they knew he needed to go back to school, and there was no way in hell they were going to let him go to a normal school, being a demon. Regardless, he's ready to live out his life here. And one day, perhaps, find Susan again.
