"Physically strong is all I know," Jude corrected. "He obviously has other abilities, but his battle with Dalia was over too quickly to get an idea of what he could do. He underestimated her, but he might not make that mistake again."

Maybe that was too harsh. Maybe he should have said he won't. Only wasn't a big part of his plan counting on taking advantage of the fact that Altizica thought he was so vastly superior to everyone that he had no fear?

"That all sounds fine. I'm just saying I don't know what you're capable of. Your species is totally, uh, alien to me, and while you might be ridiculously strong, I didn't know until now."

Jude was only picking at his food, barely eating it. He had too many things on his mind.

"I'm going to look into things. I might have to be really friendly with him, so try not to hold it against me if I do."

Syrra felt compelled to retort with something, to assure him again that there was no way she would lose, but her initial fury and fervor had leveled out into something colder. She wanted Altizica dead, beyond a shadow of a doubt, but she also recognized that Jude's suggestion to approach things carefully was an important one. After all, after what he had done, there was no telling what he was or wasn't capable of so many years later. Even so, the need for patience bit at her more than she was by any means alright with.

"...Fine. I understand that you need to fraternize with the beast to properly carry out your end of things. I will not like it, but I will not be upset with you. On the contrary, I will see to it that you are appropriately compensated for your aid in this affair." Syrra flexed her hands for a moment, staring down at them, before devouring the rest of her steak and sighing heavily. "I trust that you will not fail me, Jude. Please, do not."

To fraternize? She certainly had a way of speaking, but that made sense considering how old she actually was. Was she using a translation charm? That would make sense, considering she was an alien.

"I don't need to be compensated," Jude said, pausing for a moment as he weighed how much he wanted to say. Should he just say it? Should he just blurt it out?

Maybe.

"My home dimension--the earth there was devoured by something a lot like Altizica. A being of hunger and nothing else. So this is personal to me, even if it wasn't Altizica that did it."

This was self defense. Protecting himself from something too similar to what he'd been harmed by.
