No one had expected Pandora to arrive at the hospital in the early hours of the morning. And no one had been prepared for the amount of damage she had sustained to actually need attention at the hospital to begin with. That is probably why the attending Nurse had only been able to stare with her mouth open as the spider was assisted into the Emergency department. Once all the shock had settled the spider was taken in for treatment.

Her injuries were rather extensive all things considering. Under normal circumstances Pandora was usually the victor in any confrontation. She had speed, and strength on her side over most humans, and was known to be rather terrifying to meet when alone. In this case however she had gone from predator to prey at the hands of a much larger demon. Nasci had delivered quite a savage attack on the spider, leaving her with several injuries. Two of her legs had been removed, and devoured by the centipede, and one of her pedapalps had almost received the same fate. She had several puncture wounds on her body, that had been the site of venom injections, and had had her shoulder dislocated. She was even missing a couple of large portions of her abdomen from where Nasci had literally bitten off chunks of her body. All of that coupled with blood loss, and various scrapes and bruises had left her feeling like she had seen better days.

Once her bleeding was under control and large amounts of antivenom had been pumped into her system, she was transported to her own private room on a higher floor of the hospital. Given the nature of the attack a police officer was stationed outside her room, until such a time as she could be properly interviewed in regards to the events. This didn't bother Pandora much.

Inside the room she had opted to not lay in the bed provided. Instead she had used her remaining strength to make herself a Hammock that she hung in front of the large window looking out over the hospital grounds. She lay in it hanging her remaining legs over the sides while resting her head on her arms. Nearby an IV machine beeped every so often as it delivered vital nutrients and fluids to her system. Every so often a nurse would come in, looking rather skittish, to take her vitals. During these times Pandora never moved, never spoke. She just lay still watching out the window.

Guests were allowed to visit by this point. And by now the news would have circulated out from the hospital staff that the large spider was being treated here.

Felix couldn't shake off the feeling that he failed her. He'd stopped her before from engaging with Nasci, telling her she couldn't do anything in the island, but now that Pandora was in the hospital, he felt like a dirty liar. He trusted her instincts, but despite that trust, he just responded to it with calm. That was a mistake on his part. He got complacent. He knew the law couldn't protect everyone.

It surprised him that Pandora texted him, of all people. By then, he called search parties out to look for the spider after Phaedra approached him about it. He kept the girls safe with two policemen stationed at their apartment and joined the search parties after, which was when he received the texts. He called off the parties and headed straight to the hospital, picking up some flowers along the way.

As soon as he stepped into the hospital, he felt his heart beat louder. He broke Pandora's trust. It'd hurt him if she got pissed at him, and it'd hurt him even more if she accepted it as her own fault. Felix nodded at the men outside her room and placed the flowers on the bedside table, sitting next to her bed. Her condition... was not ideal.

"Pandora..." Felix furrowed his eyebrows. "I sent people in your house to take care of the kids, make sure nobody gets them while they're out. If you're going to stay here longer, I can transfer them to a safe place, too."

After he delivered the information, Felix the detective made way to a more vulnerable version of himself, worry all over his face. "I'm... sorry about what happened. I'm sorry I didn't act when you assessed her as a threat. That was a mistake on my part. I'm going to fix it."

Pandora lay in her Hammock still as death. If not for the gentle rocking one might have assumed the worst. She had had her back to the door when Felix entered the room. She was glad he came. That was why she had messaged him, she said she would if anything ever happened. It was part of the being good thing. Turn to the authorities when things happen, it was their job to handle it. She wished she could have messaged Felix sooner, but everything had escalated so quickly. And if she had, it might not have been her in the hospital, but other people in body bags. Perhaps this was for the best.

He spoke first. He mentioned sending people to her place, that was good. That meant the girls were safe. She smiled a little but still didn't move. She had wanted to say I told you so. She had wanted to say she was right and gloat, but that was no good to anyone. The old her would have done that. Of course the old her didn't have kids. The old her was a killer, who probably would have hunted Nasci down much sooner.

When Felix's tone changed she was caught off guard. She had grown to trust him over the last few weeks. He had helped her, and encouraged her. And now he was here. Not as a detective anymore, but instead as a person, as a friend. She could hear things in his voice, pain, regret, even fear. She hated the way he sounded now. Still she hesitated a few moments and stirred a little. "It's alright..." Her voice was quiet and scratchy. She had left most of it in screams around the forest. She rolled over revealing the bandaged Pedapalp, and severely bruised shoulder and arm.

She struggled for a moment sitting up and adjusting her hospital gown to cover herself up a bit. Looking under the Hammock it was easy to see that there were legs missing now. "Im sorry... I wanted to call for help.. But.. There was no time..." There was truth in her strained words. "So many people were in danger.. and they didn't even know it. Dalia was in danger... I had to do something." She had tears forming now as she smiled weakly. "Is it possible to wait a little while to give a statement?... I don't fancy reliving the event quite so soon." She asked trying to force the smile to stay. She was till in quite amount of pain despite the medicine she had been given. What she really needed was a coffee.

Noli Zaphir

Why was she here?

Noli walked a slow pace through the halls of the hospital, clutching a small vase of flowers in her hands. A gift for Pandora. Did Pandora even like flowers? Probably not. Even though they were both ‘involved’ with Malara, Noli honestly knew close to nothing about Pandora. She never really talked to her. She didn’t really know how to talk to the large, intimidating spider woman.

Noli stopped in front of the door where the injured Pandora rested. Noli thought…she didn’t know. That maybe she should try a little harder to talk to this woman that Malara loved so much. But Noli just…felt so small compared to her. Even though Pandora had changed a lot, there was still that part of Noli that could not shake away her fear of this spider woman who could take her down in a second.

And maybe, admittedly, there was a part of Noli that was jealous of Pandora. Malara liked Noli, but she loved Pandora. And Pandora was so much stronger, braver, just…better than Noli would ever be. A better match for Malara. And, well maybe Noli wasn’t cut out for this…polyamorous relationship stuff after all. It was fun at first, but now she felt…wrong. A third wheel. More than a third wheel. The last wheel.

But shouldn’t she try to talk to her?

…No. Noli was a coward. She left the small vase of flowers with no note next to Pandora's door, then backed away and quickly turned to leave the hospital—hopefully before someone she knew came and recognized her.

Chloe came as soon as she knew where to go, as soon as she knew Amber and her sisters were safe.

"Hey, mama."

This was all a huge fucking mess. Chloe was out of breath. She set a book down on the little table they kept next to her hospital bed. On the cover, it said 'Grendel,' and 'John Gardner.'

"I brought something for you. I know it gets boring being in the hospital. I don't know if this is your sort of thing, but, it helped me when I was here, so..."

She sighed. She hated this. All she could do was feel angry and helpless, hold back the revenge plots festering in her mind. Pipe dreams, if the cops caught Nasci fast enough.

No anger, just quiet acceptance. That stung him the most. Felix rubbed his shoulder, feeling... much smaller. Feeling small was entirely unfamiliar to him; Felix didn't have the best self-worth, but he stood tall despite it. Being wrong, feeling guilty, it all crawled under his skin.

Felix's eyes were wide as he listened to her, nodding. "I know... I understand. Somtimes you want to be able to handle the situation as soon as it comes up. That's why I became a cop." He deflated. No, no, this wasn't about him. He rubbed his arm. "...Take all the time you need. We're not going anywhere." He touched her arm, light and careful. "Hey. We'll catch her, alright? We'll catch her. You don't ever have to worry about her around your kids again."

When Chloe came in, Felix pulled back into his seat, stiffening. "Hello, Ms. Black. If... that is all, Pandora, I can take my leave and get started on this early."

He nodded at them and took his leave, planning on working on the case as soon as he got to the police station.

Malara wasn't sure what she was feeling. Her limbs felt numb and heavy as she trudged, half dressed and makeup unfinished through the hospital doors. But for as unfeeling as her arms and legs were, her chest was on fire and felt like it might burst into flame at any moment. Her hair had already done so.

She had been getting ready for a shoot when the news had come. If Dorian was going to be upset for her leaving, or for the door she dented, she didn't care.
Why hadn't she heard the minute it happened? Who had done this? So many questions swam in her head that none of them actually made any sense.

A nurse grabbed her arm as she moved down the hallway toward the room Pandora was in. Malara's arm tensed, and she turned with a snarl at the man. "Let me GO."
The blood pounding in her ears nearly drowned out the man's words. "...your hair, miss."

"You need to put out your hair."
The words came clearer this time. Malara didn't want to bother. She could just throw this man through a wall, keep moving. But something deeper inside, some almost buried rationality said no.

Taking a long, deep breath, Malara let the flames of her hair die down. The nurse loosened his grip on her arm, and she snatched it away before continuing.
Malara stood in the doorway to the room, drinking in the sight of Pandora's injuries. She shook almost uncontrollably, fighting back tears of anger and frustration. The look on her face was unmistakable. Whoever did this, they were worse than dead.

Something about the way Felix spoke was reassuring. She had never been one to trust in others to handle a job she should take care of on her own, yet some how she felt assured. Maybe it was the pain in his own voice, she could hear it. The personal feeling of failure that danced just behind everything else. He had to make up for this, at least in his own mind. That meant that there was little that wouldn't be done.

Of course she also knew that this was a matter that needed to be settled differently. most of her time this morning had been in quiet reflection on how to approach this new threat. This Hellion was unlike any she had ever encountered, and somehow she knew that Nasci would not stop till one of them was dead.

Chloe had arrived shortly after. Her words soft and sweet were a welcome distraction from current events. She had with her a book, one to give Pandora something to do while she stayed here. Naturally she had no intention of staying in this place long, but for now it was something she welcomed openly. In almost the same moment Felix seemed to tense up. His posture changed along with his tone. But she nodded when he suggested getting started on this early. "Of course Mr. Felix. I will be by the station as soon as I am out of here to provide further statements to help."

Her attention now returned back to Chloe. "Thank you sweet's. This will do me well to occupy my time." She said softly, looking over the book. One thing that most people did not know about Pandora was that she did enjoy literature. reading was something that allowed her to escape from herself at times, so books were always welcome to her.

Before she could say anything else however she caught sight of Malara standing in the door. The normally tall and strong Goddess looked shaken up at the sight of the spider. Her body trembled and she had tears in her eyes. Pandora had wanted to get up, Hug them all and say everything was ok. But as of the moment even the thought of getting up hurt. Instead she just smiled as best as she could. "Im glad you came." She said gently, as she readjusted herself to see the two women properly.
