Harmonia Proxentias from Proxentias Designs unlocked the front door to the old, run-down and apparently abandoned two-story house at the end of the cul-de-sac of one of the nicer neighbourhoods on the island. She had got the house at a bargain bottom price and only needed to pay the back taxes on the property to acquire it. Harmonia's plans were to renovate the house up and down so that it showcased her design skills and turn it into her office while occupying the top floors of the building as her own personal residence.
Pushing on the front door open, Harmonia had to use all her weight to force it open. The wood and its hinges were obviously old and rusted with age and it let out a loud creaking sound that echoed through the house as it finally gave way and allowed the interior designer into the house.
"Zeus's thunder," the Olympian demi-goddess whistled as she entered the dark, musty and cluttered foyer. It was somehow worse than she remembered it. There was rubbish everywhere, the wallpaper was old, yellowed and peeling, the floorboards were warped, scuffed and stained, and a few of the windows were dirty, missing panes or cracked.
Pocketing the keys, the interior designer made her way very cautious through the house, stepping over piles of rubbish and loose floorboards until she suddenly let out a loud shriek when a large brown rat went scurrying from out from under one of the piles of old clothes in the corner of one of the rooms.
"All the gods in Hades!" she exclaimed as she watched the animal scurry under a broken floorboard. "Where are they? They were supposed to be here at three," she huffed, referring to the hired hands that had answered her ad looking for people to clean out this run-down monstrosity.
