Harmonia Proxentias from Proxentias Designs unlocked the front door to the old, run-down and apparently abandoned two-story house at the end of the cul-de-sac of one of the nicer neighbourhoods on the island. She had got the house at a bargain bottom price and only needed to pay the back taxes on the property to acquire it. Harmonia's plans were to renovate the house up and down so that it showcased her design skills and turn it into her office while occupying the top floors of the building as her own personal residence.

Pushing on the front door open, Harmonia had to use all her weight to force it open. The wood and its hinges were obviously old and rusted with age and it let out a loud creaking sound that echoed through the house as it finally gave way and allowed the interior designer into the house.

"Zeus's thunder," the Olympian demi-goddess whistled as she entered the dark, musty and cluttered foyer. It was somehow worse than she remembered it. There was rubbish everywhere, the wallpaper was old, yellowed and peeling, the floorboards were warped, scuffed and stained, and a few of the windows were dirty, missing panes or cracked.

Pocketing the keys, the interior designer made her way very cautious through the house, stepping over piles of rubbish and loose floorboards until she suddenly let out a loud shriek when a large brown rat went scurrying from out from under one of the piles of old clothes in the corner of one of the rooms.

"All the gods in Hades!" she exclaimed as she watched the animal scurry under a broken floorboard. "Where are they? They were supposed to be here at three," she huffed, referring to the hired hands that had answered her ad looking for people to clean out this run-down monstrosity.

Alex was out on a walk through the neighborhood. This was a habit he'd had since he'd first arrived on the island. He felt a bit more connected to his neighbors, rather than just being the guy who lived in the big mansion down the way. He came to a stop at a particular home that seemed to have been sold. Some old dilapidated thing, definitely an eyesore for the rest of the neighborhood.

According to some of his younger clansmen the place was haunted. That was in some ways more believable than others. He was a dragon, and this was an island with a wide variety of species including undead. That said, from the sounds of things there was someone inside having a bit of a rough time. He considered ignoring it, going on his way. The dragon sighed and strolled into the house.

This place was a dump, calling it a fixer upper was an understatement. He walked through, finding the person who was making all the noise. "Are you alright?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.

Harmonia wheeled around in surprise when she heard a man's voice behind her. "It's about high time you got here," she exclaimed rather indignantly as she raked her silver gaze over the tall redhead - who at any other time might have caught her eye - and frowned in disapproval.

"A giant rat almost attacked me," the demi-goddess exaggerated as she pointed to a pile of old clothing where the rat had scurried to. "It was huge... like, like ... a wererat," she assured him as she stepped back away from the offending pile.

Alex blinked, very obvious confusion was written on his stoic face. This woman clearly had the wrong ideas about why he was here. She was definitely a bit too old and professionally dressed to be in here doing urban exploration. Probably a site manager checking out the premises, or something. She also had the faint scent of someone who might be worth his time under any other circumstance.

Alex inhaled before he responded with a calm measured tone, "You clearly have me mistaken for someone else. It was probably an ordinary small rat or mouse, I don't smell any sort of were-anythings. I could stay with you until your help arrives though if that would make you feel safer."

He was probably going to regret this.

Harmonia bristled a little when the stranger corrected her, she did not like the fact that she had made a mistake. She also should have realised that he was too well put together to be one of the people she had hired to help clean up the house.

"No. It's fine. I don't want to inconvenience you if you are busy," Harmonia sniffed as she begrudgingly let go of her indignation.

"Besides, I do have somebody coming to help clean out this ... mausoleum of garbage," she informed the redheaded stranger as she gingerly stepped over a warped floorboard.

"It's no inconvenience for me. I've heard rumors this place might be hau-" he heard it first, moving out of the way as a small piece of ceiling fell. Almost as if on cue. He sighed, looking around for a potential culprit. "Haunted."

"At any rate I'm Alex Drakenhardt, that Alex Drakenhardt. My home isn't too far from here," he introduced himself nodding politely, because he'd be damned should he be caught bowing. What kind of king bows his head?

When the piece of ceiling suddenly fell to the floor with a loud clatter, Harmonia jumped a little startled by the noise. She then glared suspiciously at the spot where the piece had fallen from, before turning her attention to Alex.

"I am sorry for that," she apologized, very clearly irritated by the fact that a ghost had dared to be so disrespectful in her presence. "It seems that the previous occupant of the house forgot to vacate the premises," she remarked, raising her voice a tad in clear defiance of its warning.

"Harmonia Proxentias of Proxentias Designs," she introduced herself with cool politeness just as the lights flickered twice before a bulb burst, making a loud bang which caused Harmonia to let out a loud, and very unlady-like, "Fucking hell!".

Alex knew this type of woman all too well. Probably spent a decent portion of her life getting everything she could want, but discovered over time that not everything is simply handed to her. She was assertive, probably had some level of nobility to her. That said given that she was here at some run down house told him enough. She could probably hold his interest. His brothers were on him about making some friends, getting out and dating, things like that.

She cursed. He looked a little too amused at her indignant response to whatever spirit was living here. "Well, it's a pleasure to meet you Miss Proxentias. Although, I don't think the house agrees with that sentiment. You could call the police. If there is a ghost here it would probably be considered a squatter and removed. Or curse it out until it leaves. Or just demolish the building."

"Or take a gallon of kerosene and match to it," Harmonia added darkly. She was not about to let some lesser being force her from the house, and all the plans she had for it. No siree, the entity had no clue who it was dealing with, and Harmonia had no intention of letting it get its way.

"Mr. Drakenhardt," Harmonia said as she looked at him with a stubborn and somewhat vengeful look about her. "Did you know deities can send a ghost to the afterlife, or capture it and make it do its bidding?" she stated matter-of-factly and loud enough that if the entity was listening, they'd hear her not so veiled threats.

"I wouldn't recommend burning the house if you plan on making it livable and making it money off it," Alex created an ember in his hand, providing a bit of light in response to the light bulb bursting. Harmonia seemed to be less scared and more angry about the situation. He could respect that sentiment, at least she wasn't a whimpering mess over this.

"That may be with certain gods, but that also may be an illegal option here on the island. If nothing else we want this situation to turn out beneficial for everyone. Petty threats, as cathartic as they may be probably won't win you the day, Miss Proxentias," his voice was calm, his explanations... reasonable.

"Now then... we don't want any trouble, we just want to talk! Show yourself," he said. the final part of his call ending in his eyes turning reptilian, and his voice becoming a low growl.
