It was actually happening. Chloe was going to get away from her father. She had made plans with Pandora and with Malara already. The only thing left for Chloe to do was one of the most important - Amber needed to stop living at the mansion.

Amber seemed troubled, lately. Chloe blamed this on herself. She didn't think she had been a very good mother for Amber over the last month or so. That would change when this ordeal was behind them, she told herself. Getting Amber to move back in with Pandora would be tricky. She liked it here. She had a special bath and a bedroom to herself, and space for all of her books and toys. She would get to keep most of those.

It had become a rarity for Chloe to be home with Amber while they were both awake. Chloe used to be able to blame this on finals; she wondered if Amber knew those ended over a week ago. It was a little bit dark outside, but the lights were on in Amber's room. Chloe knocked on the door a few times before cracking the door open.

"Hey, Amber. Mind if I come in?"

Amber jerked her head the moment she had heard a knock on the door, followed by the voice of her mother coming in. Her mom has be very busy as of late with schoolwork and what not. Having her mom come in and check on her was a real treat given the recent circumstances; her mind weighed heavily on her other mom's recent marriage to Malara and Dalia's arrest over nearly murdering a classmate. In these trying times, her mom Chloe was probably the only person she could rely on at his moment in her life.

"Of course mom! You may come on in!" announced Amber as she sets her favorite spider plushy on the floor along with the other cute assortment of stuffed animals she had in her collection.

As her mom entered her room, Amber stands attentively in the middle of the room as if she were expecting her for some time.

"Did you need something mom?" asked Amber politely, obviously her mom had something important to tell her but it was also good to ask.

"Yeah, I need to hug you." After closing the door behind her, Chloe knelt down and wrapped Amber in her arms. "I haven't been able to just, sit and talk with you enough. I'm sorry about that."

Chloe didn't want to jump straight into the move, yet. It might make Amber upset. Chloe didn't know how may more times she would get to sit down with her daughter and act like things were normal or okay.

"How have you been holding up? I've heard a lot has been happening out here in the real world."

Including one of Amber's sisters going to Juvie. Chloe still didn't know how to feel about the situation with Dalia. She'd rather hear about nice things, like how Amber's friends were doing at school - but she knew in her heart that it was going to come up.

"Well, we are here now" responded Amber, grinning as she embraced her mother. It had be awhile since the two of them where able to talk like this this. With how busy her mother was it was difficult to find the time to talk about all of things that where happening to her. But now that she was here, she was at last free to speak about the recent developments in her life.

"Its been... difficult... you know... with Dalia being sent to jail. Everyone is now avoiding me and... well..." her voice started to become strained. She had wanted to be composed as she spoke but she found her own voice betraying her own inner turmoils as she continued to speak "I... I thought I knew my own sister well but I didn't. Y-you heard all about it... r-right? H-how she nearly killed that p-poor girl Argenta? I I know that she hadn't been nice to Dalia but... but... t-the way she... she tortured her... I just... I can't believe w-what Dalia did to her! A-and now... e-everyone hates mom! E-even the people whom I thought... whom I thought were friends are... are avoiding me! N-nobody wants to be seen with me because they all think t-that... that I am my SISTER!"

Amber clutches her mom tighter, taking in deep breaths to keep herself from bawling on her mother before continuing her rant.

"H-how can Dalia be... be so... be so SELFISH! S-she knew what she was doing as WRONG but did her... her horrible hienious act anyway and now me a-anud P-pheadra an-d a-an Ossa... we are all s-suffering for a-an action w-we did not commit! I-it fricking SUCKS mom!"

Amber has to take several more additional deep breaths, she didn't want to alarm her mother any more than she probably already has.

"I-I'm sorry for... for m-making listen to all of this when y-your busy with school and club stuff too but... but I really n-needed to just... talk to someone about it b-because I know y-you still l-love me mom..."

Chloe wrapped her daughter in her arms, stroking her hair. "It's alright. Don't worry about my school stuff," she said. "You're more important than that to me than any of that."

She didn't realize how Amber had felt about Dalia. She also didn't know how much flak Pandora and the girls were catching for something they had nothing to do with. They just hugged while Chloe tried to think of something good to say. A part of Chloe wanted to congratulate Amber on her continually expanding vocabulary, but now probably wasn't the time.

"It really does suck," she decided. "You shouldn't be getting trouble for something Dalia did. But... I can't blame Dalia for snapping like she did, either." She pulled away enough to look Amber in the eyes. "Argenta was doing things like filling Dalia's locker with centipedes. Which... you know, that sort of thing hurts Dalia more than it would hurt me or you, because of how she ran into that centipede woman. It sort of... triggers really bad feelings for her."

Chloe paused for a moment. She was trying to make a really nuanced point to someone with the mind of a ten year old. And it probably wasn't worth it. Maybe she just felt guilty. She knew Dalia was going to get back at Argenta and didn't do anything to try to stop her. She didn't think Dalia would go that far.

"Who's been... treating you differently?" Chloe hoped the Blight boy would still be on good terms with her, at least. They had been really close.

"W-well... almost everyone actually. I... I like to think that almost everyone is okey with me but... now they just want nothing to do with me! They avoid me like... like I'm a disease..." answered Amber as she shuffled uncomfortably "N-not everyone... Joseph still treats me the same and... a few others but... it just... feels like the whole school hates me."

Amber looked at her mom, irritated that she was... defending Dalia! If Dalia had more self control none of this would have happened! She... she was only aware of the mean things Agenta has done to Dalia but... it did not excuse Dalia of her own crimes! Dalia can be justified but not excused of her actions or behavior. Why does everyone keep trying to defend her!

"How can you not blame her mom? Its all HER fault! If she just... thought about what her actions would accomplish then none of this would happen! She NEVER thinks these things through! She is such a stupidhead and I just... I just hate her at times okey? Why is she getting all this special treatment anyway? Why is it that everyone seems to like Dalia over me and my sisters? Even mom loves Dalia more than me..."

Did she... dis she just say that out loud? She was so engrossed her her rant that she had no filter over the words she was spewing...

Chloe was already coming up with something to say. It was a teachable moment, probably. Dalia was struggling a lot more, so she needed more help, and the people around her were doing their best to be fair with that in mind. There was probably a better way to say it, but that quickly became moot point.

At the last comment, Chloe's head tilted. "You think Pandora loves Dalia more than you? That... that doesn't sound right. What makes you say that?" She knew Pandora had a sort of perverse pride in Dalia's viciousness, when she was younger. But Chloe thought the parents had all agreed not to encourage this sort of thing.

"W-well..." fumbled Amber, trying to phrase the words in her head. After some thought, she take in deep breath and continued to speak.

"Its because... my mom isn't marrying you. S-she is marrying Malara instead of you. I... I thought she loved us all equally but she clearly prefers her over you since... since they the ones getting married and its just... i-i-ts just..."

Call her childish but she always thought about the day her moms would finally get married to each other and when she learned that she was going to marry Malara instead, it broke her heart. Did they not see what she saw? That they were perfect for each other? Pandora's passion, energy and ferocity tempered by Chloe's intellect, insight and patience? Could her own mother not see the tragedy? She should be fighting for their marriage and prove her love Pandora! Not... claim to be happy for them. This isn't suppose be how it works!

"I-its just y-you are the b-b-best for each other a-aund...a-aund your d-doing nothing about i-it! E-every is ta-talking about w-wedding a-aund... i-it should be YOU u-up there NOT her!"

Amber does her best to hold back the tears that began to well on her many eyes. It just... hurts her so much that her parents didn't love each other as much as she thought they did.

"Oh, Amber... is that what this is about?" Chloe smiled a little bit, trying not to smile at all. This was so far off Chloe's radar, but it was a real relief that this wasn't anything more troubling. She sat back, crossing her legs.

"Let's talk about their marriage for a little bit, then. I love your mom, and I love Malara too. And... well, what do you think it means for them?" That would probably be the best place for them to start. They had let Amber and the spider girls see a bunch of Disney movies - that was probably where Amber got her idea of how marriage was supposed to work and it really didn't apply to Malara.

Something about the way her mom seemed so... dismissive about the marriage really irritated Amber. How could her mom think so little of upcoming marriage?

"Yesss!" exclaimed Amber, holding out her arms before crossing them across her chest.

When her mother pressed her to explain to her what she thought marriage was, Amber thought it was the stupidest question ever ask for the answer was obvious. As she opened her mouth, she was forced to think on it a bit... it was one of those questions where it seemed simple and obvious but when forced to explain it was difficult to articulate.

"Marriage is... err... its when two people who really love each other vow to always be together and... well... yeah."

Amber then grimaced a little, the definition seemed so much more clear-cut in her head.
