Mine were both born here, though I believe they both have Russian blood in them from before my family came here so I guess they might've gotten the name from there." He wasn't going to go into details on his family situation of course, especially not with a stranger. "So Japan huh? Did your parents move you hereafter the curse or was it just the fact that you are half-alien?"

He was somewhat curious about how the government dealt with cases like Bastet. With the plethora of species and cultures on the island, no case could be placed in a specific type...right? He just couldn't imagine being a ranger having to deal with the day to day of extracting people from the earth. He never got the chance to ask why his family was on the island because life was just far too normal on his end to question it.

It seemed weird that MC would bring over a person trained to kill a specific type of species but then he remembered that a large number of the people of the island had done much worse and were going about normal lives. "Yeah I can see that I know a few people who did something akin to peacekeeping before they came here but gave that life up to further education or enter a new career...Sorry to hear about your parents though. I know it can be rough being without family especially for a long period of time."

Vlad didn't let the thought of his parents get him down. He'd overcome that hurdle for the most part and had found some sense f closure over the number of years he had been without them. " So do you plan to use that knowledge somehow, like becoming an MCPD officer or something."

"Makes sense. A lot of people don't realize what they want to do with their lives immediately when coming here. I'd imagine it can rather life-changing coming here no matter where in existence you come from. Honestly being born here is one of those things I thank existence for giving me every day. I can only imagine being a normal human brought here." He smiled a bit at the thought.

In his life, prior to all the unfortunateness, his family lived pretty straight forward lives as farmers. If they were ever placed back into the normal reality of earth he'd imagine they could continue on with their lives just fine. Maybe the same could be true for the opposite, but he'd have to put more thought into it. Most of his older neighbors were aliens or other mythical creatures so normal wasn't the same for him compared to others.

"But if you did want to protect people there are some good options on the island and space station from what I've heard. There are police and security internships all over the place."

Vlad frowned "Yeah it has been pretty crappy lately with all those terrorists running around scaring people but I'm hoping that stuff ends soon. The island is a melting pot that sort of forces assimilation so I've never found it surprising that such ignorant people refuse to change." He thought about the sort of evils his masters talked about and then thought about those people who wrecked the Vampire commune. In his mind he thought it had to be them, they had to be the type of evil he heard so much about.

Shaking away the depressing though he continued. "But at the very least its good to know people are thinking of others when choosing their futures, and you seem to have help from some highly invested friends." Vlad instinctually rubbed the back of his head before noticing the stare of the black cat and cutting it quickly.

Vlad gave a reluctant smile to the cat but didn't make any other gesture toward it. "I'm okay actually. They sort of remind me of my family's house cat is all. Though given the magical nature I doubt the two are related." It was a lie obviously, his adoptive parents were allergic to the furry creatures and avoided them like the plague. What the lie accomplished, however, was offering him some form of escape from the proposition. He wasn't going to touch some random person's magical cat.

He was reminded of all the stories of people bring fooled into mundane things like looking someone in the eye, or watching a videotape, and then they wind up in some dark pact or some shit. The last thing he needed holding him down was a curse....another one that is to say. " So what grade are you in then, or are you a college student?" He said trying to steer the conversation away from any potential further questions or requests for him.

The girl may have appeared around his age but on the island, one could find a baby who was old enough to be the progenitor of your entire bloodline so he always took precautions when making statements that alluded to someone's age.
