I've got a very general character idea with a pretty specific background, and I wanted to see if anyone else would be interested. Here's the general idea:
- Alien culture is basically strongly focused, culturally, on 'invade, kill adults, take kids, those kids are raised in your culture'.
- Super multi-species, the original species isn't even clear and may have been wiped out.
- As of recently (like, last 50 years at most), the culture has moved away from that, become more democratic, etc.
- Some people (tm) did not like this. They basically pushed for 'the old ways' and collected an army of strays. Picked up a lot of 'last of their kind' kids, raised them in a heavily militarized / communal living situation.
- Splinter group goes to war with main planet. They get trounced, leadership is arrested/probably executed considering the scale of the crime. There's a strong pushback against the soldiers, who are basically considered not really of the culture since they're from a twisted version of it. Similarly, there's some concerns the units might rally and have their own agenda.
- Most of the soldiers get sent back to their home planets/the people they got originally stolen from. Character ends up dropped on Manta Carlos because like... that's where humans are from, right?
That said, just because my character is getting sent here because he's human doesn't mean he's alone. It's possible someone else is a species that's from Earth. It's also possible they just don't have a place to return some of them, since their homes were destroyed/whatever reason, so Manta Carlos is willing to take in a few more.
