So, Kyros and I were talking about a second werewolf pack coming into existence that would rival the Misfits pack. I was thinking it could be cool if the second pack had a major ideological divide with the misfits - and perhaps this could come in the form of this second pack being a cult with a lot of crazy ideas about werewolves' relationship with the world.

Here is a sampling of possible ideas which they could have:
  • Their alpha is an incarnation of the moon's soul and technically a god, so should be treated as such
  • Werewolves who do not worship the moon are, in a very important way, failures or otherwise not 'true' werewolves.
  • Werewolves are 'chosen by the moon' making their lives more valuable than pretty much everyone else's. This isn't to say that other people aren't important at all and can be killed - just that they're less important. Think, the way many people consider killing a pet vs. killing a person
  • There is a catastrophic event coming soon(TM) which will wipe out most or all intelligent life on earth, but the moon-god alpha's chosen people will be able to live on the moon to survive. In the meantime, the moon-god is doing everything in his power to stop this catastrophe, but these efforts will only be effective for so long
  • Worshipping the moon and doing the alpha's bidding gives him power and protects the world from catastrophe
  • Worthy non-werewolves who prove their allegiance (often by giving in to certain kinds of demands from the alpha) can be ceremonially converted to werewolves, using either a sort of infectious or curse-borne lycanthropy that can be passed on by either the alpha or some lieutenant of his.
This group would accept any kind of werewolf into their fold.

Unlike the misfits pack, the Moon's Chosen (or whatever it would ultimately be called) would not expect its members to all live under the same roof, though it can provide that for individuals who have been with them long enough or otherwise at the discretion of the alpha. Pack members are generally expected to (where possible) attend regular meetings. Transportation, free food, and a sense of worth and purpose will all be provided.

They would make serious efforts to reach out to the new werewolf students at the Academy, and that most of their membership would come from that. One would imagine someone new to the island would be willing to believe a whole lot of crazy things about the world, so the skeptical response that might immunize most people against this crap would not come into play. The Moon's Chosen would also offer a close-knit social group to young, impressionable people who probably feel alone and isolated in their new home.

This group would talk shit about the misfits pack. The general policy is you aren't allowed to be in both groups.

OK Kait so what the hell do you want from us?

I'm glad you asked that question, Kait. I'd want to know if people would be willing to create werewolf characters who had been involved in this cult for a while, or to involve new werewolf characters in this group. Involvement of your character in this plot could be as minimal as attending meetings offscreen and knowing the others, or as intense as being in one of the inner circles and doing shady stuff.

If I end up making this cult, I'd also fully expect the cult leader to abuse his power over a few of the more devoted cult members, because it's easier and more fun for him than approaching romance with another person as an equal.

Is anyone interested in absolutely any of this?
