Scanning item #1204.... Data collected.
Even as the android girl held the book open, her system cataloging was running at a million bits per second - eyes scanning across the page quickly, although the information collected seemed to mean not a thing in the context of Earth culture. How was it, she asked herself as she turned the page, scanning the next one, that only a few decades had passed since her last activation, and yet the human culture changed so radically? Not once had she heard the term "yo dawg" or "ballin', g!" - nor the other terms of "thou art" and such. Shame, really - at least Violet had known those terms off by heart.
Information irrelevant. Discarding...
She put the book back in its place and took a few steps out, nearer to the common area, where students were talking quietly, or themselves absorbing information.
It had been going on ever since she had left that forest she had crashed in - her programming was less logic and more defective than ever, which had led to this. Her wanting to absorb information about Earth's culture. Cultures, plural. More than one.
What set her systems worrying was the lack of adherence to her primary objective. How she chose to ignore it, instead seeking her own form of entertainment.
Was she defective? Androids like herself were not supposed to do this... were they?
Violet continued down the row.
