Date: January 6th 2014
Summary: Unable to find a purpose for being on the island, Simon eventually wandered on to the school grounds to collect more data on the island and its gifted residence. Stopping short of the school, he remained outside in the courtyard as to not break any rules since he wasn't a student.
Characters: Simon Carter, Emil Riley
Simon spent the most of the past month doing nothing but sitting in the Oceanic Park, mostly unmoving despite having an apartment to call his own; not that he really needed one since he never had to shut down and sleep wasn't needed. Over the course of the time he spent there he had collected enough data to tell him that the students all were gifted individuals, and all of which studied at Starlight Academy. His personal database was limited and rather than remain on standby for another month, he decided to head to the school to better understand the reason for this islands existence.

His clothing quickly shifted and the dirty outer-self was instantly made to look clean using his tech ability. Slowly he walked to the gates and entered the courtyard where he intended to collect more data on the people and the school. Rather than enter he stayed in the courtyard and situated himself in an open area where he could watch the students on the grounds. This location was much better for collecting information than the park was.

After a few hours of observation, he learned from listening and watching that the students were there to better control their powers and live a more normal lifestyle; at least for most of them. He could tell that some had an edge to them that could easily cause damage if left to their own devices...

Another lunch bell, another rush of students.

As usual, Emil was consciously taking his time with packing his books as everyone else left to eat their lunch. He didn't like pushing his way between students and did really not like the idea of being stuck in the middle of a mob of students. Thus, he waited. Once the hallways were adequately empty, the boy quickly made his way outside and walked to the courtyard. Normally, he would prefer the library, but he was fairly sure one was not allowed to bring in food there. Indeed he had his own lunchbox, to avoid the packed nature and loud buzzing of the cafeteria at this time.

It was first when he sat down to eat his lunch for today - a pair of simple cheese sandwiches, nothing special - that Emil noticed the other boy walking around the school grounds. Normally he would just concentrate on his food, as staring is rude, but there was something about this other boy that caught his interest. Or rather, a lack of something.

No buzz. Emil could not pick up any static from the (presumed) other student. He radiated nothing but pure silence. Thus, manners be damned, Emil stared. Everything had thoughts. That's just how it is. Did they have some kind of blockade as their power, or what was going on?

Simon head immediately shifted to looking at Emil the second that he detected he was being observed. So far no one at the school had even noticed he was there and just went on with their business, until this moment that is. Did something give him away, or perhaps this gifted individual had a power that allowed him to see him from what he was—a robot. He saw a thirty percent probability that if he left this person alone he would alert others to his existence and even though this wasn’t a mission he could not allow that.

Using some words he picked up from the passing students, he spoke in a dry, flat tone. “Is something the matter, dude?” he stared unblinkingly at Emil before continuing without the use of the students words. “You have been staring at me for approximately 10.8 seconds. May I inquire as to the reason why?”

Ah..! He had seen him. Emil quickly shifted his attention back to his lunch, staring intently at the cheese and bread. He was being rude, he knew it and he lambasted himself for it. Who sits and stares at people like that? It went straight against everything his parents had told him. Granted, he had a valid excuse, he had not met anyone not accompanied by the white noise of dormant thoughts ever since his powers had awakened, but he could still have handled it all with much more tact than he had.

"Is something the matter, dude?"

The moment the other "boy" spoke up, Emil looked back up at the presumed other student once more. What was that? It was a perfectly normal sentence, but there was nothing whatsoever resembling a tone in it. A complete flat line, no highs, lows and completely without any emphasis. That was... Not normal. Two things so far about this guy that just... Confused Emil. He had to admit, he was curious.

Then he spoke again, in a much more... Stilted manner. Wording he would expect out of an encyclopaedia or one of his old books, but not from a fellow student. What was this?

After a couple of stammering attempts at regaining his composure, Emil spoke up. "Oh, n-nothing, nothing. I'm terribly sorry for staring, I did just not pick up anything from you."

Realising he wasn't making any sense, he started over.

"I read minds. It's my... Ability. Sometimes it switches on automatically, I can't really help it and... Well, I got nothing from you. Just silence. Do you have some kind of blockade ability, or..?"
