In the middle

Kacey walked into the ballroom, she walked over to the piano and began to play a Howie Day song. The song was usually played on guitar but she played it extremely well on piano. She began to sing the words aloud, she was somewhere in the middle of the song.

"I'm open, you're closed
Where I follow, you'll go
I worry I won't see your face
Light up again

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the wrong words seem to rhyme
Out of the doubt that fills my mind
I somehow find
You and I collide

I'm quiet you know
You make a first impression
I've found I'm scared to know I'm always on your mind

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the stars refuse to shine
Out of the back you fall in time
I somehow find
You and I collide"

Ian walked up behidn Kacey. He had decided to come to the ballroom after hearing the piano from in the hallway. He knew someone who played piano, and luckily, the person playing was who he had been looking for all day. ian was silent as Kacey played.

Kacey was finishing up the song.

"Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the wrong words seem to rhyme
Out of the doubt that fills your mind
You finally find
You and I collide

You finally find
You and I collide
You finally find
You and I collide"

She stopped playing and looked out the window to the ballroom, she didn't hear anyone in the room else.

Ian slowly walked up behind her trying not to startled her. He slowly and quietly clapped, "That was amazing." he said.

Kacey turned around to the voice. "How long have you been listening to me play?" Kacey asked, a bit surprised she didn't notice him in the room before now.

Kacey shrugged back, "Thanks." She said a little out of it. She was still staring out the window looking at the tiny snow flakes fall to the ground. "Hey." She said finally.

"I've been looking for you all day." said Ian, "At first when you left yesterday, I just walked off the the woods and sat around for a little, but I was kind of worried and it didn't seem right for me to just be sitting there, so I looked for you to see if you were okay, because you kind of left in a rush."

Kacey could feel a awkward moment coming up. "I’m fine." She said crossing her arms. She didn’t want to think about the other day or talk about it. The whole point in coming to the ballroom was to take her mind off things.

Ian looked at the floor and immediately dropped the subject, thinking he may have just said somethign wrong and that's what might have caused Kacey to leave the other day. "So...um.." Ian suddenly got a little nervous trying to find something right to say, "Anyway, I thought you did wonderfully with that song, and besides being good at piano, you have a really nice voice." said Ian hoping that was the right way to change the subject.
