Andrasta was irritated. She didn't believe him - she didn't really think the plant boy was open to the idea of detention being bad. Maybe she was wrong, so she still felt like it was worth it to try. But she didn't savor the idea of wasting her time like this.
"Well. To start, I really do think replacing it with nothing would be an improvement. Not that it's a good idea to replace it with nothing, it's just, that's how bad detention is. Doing nothing would be better. But. Instead of detention, I think teachers should do stuff without the vicious cycles detention has, like taking a kid aside when they do something bad and talking to them about why it was bad and why they should stop. And if that doesn't work, then you make them see the counselors or have parent-teacher conferences. 'Cause they can still do that last thing sometimes when you just have a dorm parent. And..."
Andrasta thought a little bit. "I think there's some kind of in-school suspension that might actually help, too." She heard that once. But she didn't know what it meant yet, only that it was probably better than detention.
