Name: Ignis Astrum
Age: 21
Birthday: October 31st
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Category: Student
Class: College
Grade: Second year college
College Major: General Arts, Astrology
Appearance Description: A thin looking boy who appears a bit younger than he is, due partially to his height of 5'7. He has red eyes, usually encircled by marks from wearing his rather unique goggles. His hair may be just as unique as those goggles, sporting two unusual colors; red and green. He also wear a handcuff key around his neck capable of unlocking most shackles. The key was a gift from one of the magicians that taught him how to be an escape artist.
Personality Description: Ignis is a carefree, cheerful and generally kind person who cant seem to sit still unless something has truly caught his attention. This makes most classes difficult to focus on. This may be why artistic classes were a natural choice for him. Very little time spent doing nothing. Astrology then would seem an odd choice, but the stars have always kept his attention for some unexplainable reason.
Species Abilities: While only being human, hes very quick and acrobatic. One might think he was raised by a circus. Wonder why...
Powers: Hard Light. Ignis lives up to his name with the ability to produce constructs of golden light. From walls and platforms to weapons and shields, or even a functioning gameboy. You imagine it, he can probably make it. Being made of light, these constructs aren't tethered to gravity. They are, however, linked to ones own will and focus. Simply put, the brighter a construct glows, the more durable it is, but also the more focus it takes to maintain. With enough effort, a barrier of light could outclass the sun in brightness, and withstand a nuclear explosion. However, such a construct would overtax ones mind and body. One so extreme would likely kill the user. Still, even the most basic constructs would hold up to anything a real world counterpart would as long as Ignis can focus on it well enough.
Power Scale (Level, Effort Scale 1-10, Time Limit):
Easy (1)(indefinitely): Ignis has been using his powers to entertain for years with his families roaming circus. As such, simple tricks such as dancing stuffed animals, small monsters and other cartoonish entertainment can be produced without much thought. The only stipulation here lies in size and numbers. If he tries to focus on too many things at once, he will lose fine details or even shatter the creations all together. About 20 individuals is his limit without a greater focus if they are all the same, such as a parade of stuffed animals. However, multiple different shapes can bring that number down. As for their size, anything that would rise above him would take more effort unless it was alone. A single constructs size without much effort would be about 6' and relatively simple in design. All constructs are relatively fragile without additional focus, being easily shattered by one with the intent to do so.
Medium (2-4)(1 hour): With a moderate amount of effort, Ignis can produce detailed and lifelike creatures such as a life sized circus elephant or larger, more durable versions of the above mentioned constructs. These are the ones capable of matching something like a brick wall in durability.
Hard (8-10)(10-15 min): At the limit of his powers, Ignis could make an animal stampede, a house sized monster, or a barrier capable of taking several tons of force. At this level, Ignis would be putting almost all his attention on his construct, and would be almost completely immobile while maintaining them. If his focus were to break, the construct would be far more fragile and may even shatter all together if he is distracted enough.
Break (???): In a limit breaking state, actions such as withstanding a nuke or producing kaiju constructs become possible. This is, however, a short lived state. He would burn bright, but short, likely dying from the strain.
Clarification: This power is a bit complex, so here are a few extra details.
Constructs are based on cognition. As long as Ignis can imagine an item, it should behave like the real thing. A gun for example would work like a real one despite his lack of knowledge regarding a real guns mechanisms. An oddity here though is that bullets seem to hit more like a rubber bullet than a real one. Perhaps this is because thats how they appear in cartoons, and many of his favorite constructs have a cartoonish style to them, coupled with the fact that he has never fired a real one before. Bladed weapons on the other hand are just as dangerous as the real things, as he has been taught to throw knives. He has felt their weight and seen what they can do.
A construct also gets more difficult to maintain the more it takes damage. Each hit will wear on his perception of its stability, and even the sturdiest construct will shatter with enough damage.
Biography: Ignis has always had an overactive imagination. Before his first words, he was making constructs of his thoughts. The first one he made was a teddy bear he had dance for him. Ever since that display, his family had him at the center of their show. A family who owns a circus couldn't have asked for a better blessing. He grew up learning all kinds of acts, performing the shows only he could, and generally augmenting the show his family put on, all under the guise of holograms, light shows and illusions to the unknowing masses. It was fun for a while but...
This doesn't lead into your standard story of a kid being used by their parents, or some other drama. Rather, the change of location was a simple matter of being bored. Ignis wanted to do something more with himself than the same old shows. He wanted to meet people, make friends, have a new experience. Roaming around as a performer sounds free, but some things can't happen with such a lifestyle. So, at age 16, his parents helped him to go somewhere that could help him improve his abilities and channel his creativity. So here hes been for six years. Its been interesting enough for him. However, hes started to feel the need for change again...
Additional Information: Ignis is skilled at many tricks picked up from other performers he's worked with. He has great skill with magician tricks such as throwing knives and sleight of hand. Hes even been taught tricks to escape chains and straight jackets. The skeleton key around his neck was given to him by one of his teachers as his 'emergency out' for any situation.
His parents were once students of Starlight, his father being a pyromancer, while his mother is able to talk to animals. Naturally they were pretty successful performers in their own right.
