ALTERNATE REALITY SIMULATOR
POST- APOCALYPTIC AU

Haven's got a hell of a weekend on their hands. Looks like the Fire
Eaters have got themselves a new leader, and whoever it is has
their sights set on the beacon of the wastelands. Fire Eater factions
from all over are gatherin together. Course that kind of a get together
don't go unnoticed. Time for you Havenites to rally the troops, so to
speak. Reinforce those walls, set traps, and get ready cause it's gonna
be a bloodbath once those Fire Eaters come a-knocking .

But don't think you'll get it that easy. These Fire Eaters are wily. They've
planted some of their own in Haven, disguised so they don't arouse
suspicion. Their job is to sabotage these defense efforts. Pull nails out of
barriers, disarm traps, hide weapons, and kill people who are doing too
good of a job to rally the people if you can. But be careful. If the Havenites
find out where your loyalties lie, they'll send your head back to your bosses
in a bag.

OoC: This event is going to be pretty player driven. Much of the time, there
will be a Moderator watching the action to nudge results one way or the
other depending on player actions. Whether a Scene Master is available or
not will be visible here at all times. Updates will be posted here as well,
to keep people in the loop of what is happening at the time. So check back
often.

The Alternate Reality Simulator is an advanced system on board the space station that allows people to experience another world in a safe environment. While in the VR, your character has memories and histories semi-procedurally generated to help them fit into the setting. During most VR scenarios, you don't keep your normal memories unless you pay a premium fee. Likewise, a fee can be paid to have your memories of the events within the VR expunged.

ICC Summary so far:
The event began by introducing the new leader of the Fire Eaters, a mysterious individual known as Gask.

Around midnight, a Fire Eater convoy was spotted to the north, moving across the wastelands toward the location of the Fire Eater main campus. This was the seventh such convoy seen over the past few days, leaving no doubt that they are building their forces to invade Haven.

Shortly after midnight, an alleged escaped slave named Chloe appeared at Haven, injured. She explained that she is willing to help Haven, with information and medical work, in exchange for food and shelter. She has also made clear her intentions to escape before the Fire Eaters attack. Some Havenites are very suspicious of her, and she is never left unwatched.

At around 9:45 AM, a section of the wall collapsed. When inspected, it was discovered that the wall had been sabotaged, with a rope cut leading to the collapse. Civilians helped remove injured workers, but the wall would likely not be able to be repaired in time to repel the attack. The damaged wall was heavily booby-trapped by imp, and noted for extra patrols and attention.

Around 1PM, Samson Lau was shot in the gut by an unseen assailant. They were removed for medical treatment, but the shooter was not found. It is unclear where they were shot from.

When another shot was fired shortly after, fire was returned from Haven, potentially killing the shooter. The Drakes moved a truck in front of the hole in the wall, and after some discussion, the land in front of the hole was declared a no-go zone, with it heavily mined by the Motherfuckers.

Also around 1PM, another Fire Eaters faction, the Hellions, arrived at the main Fire Eater camp.

Around 4PM, a Havenite civilian was skulking around the hole in the wall, asking questions about the minefield. This attracted a fair amount of suspicion, but when the civilian moved to leave he ran into Wolfrunner. Reeling back, a Fire Eater scarf was discovered on the ground, with the civilian accusing Wolfrunner. Through quick action of both cops and civilians, the Fire Eater was identified as a cannibal and put down with only minor injuries.

Around 7PM a clinking noise was heard near one of the walls of Haven. There was a spear with a severed hand containing a note. The note mocked the Havenites for allowing anyone to walk into their city. The hand was attached to a booby trap nail bomb. Agatha read the note, setting off the trap. Agatha and Liam were injured by the trap, and Dr. William was injured diving for cover. Garren stole Agatha's prosthetic leg and ran with it. Liam procured a wheelchair for the doctor.

Starting around 9PM one of the mines in the mine field went off due to a Hellion's party. One of them died, but one was alive enough that Havoc and Dex were able to get some information out of him. The Fire Eaters are planning for a scrimmage tomorrow morning, during sunrise. Meanwhile, Chloe left, a Peacekeeper leading her out to keep her safe from all the mines and traps only for Chloe to drug him and bring him to the Fire Eater's camp, where she and other Fire Eater scouts reported their findings on the traps and security of Haven. Chloe reveals that the two antidotes she gave to the Havenites is actually poison.

Around 10:30PM the havenites discussed the idea of their traps and mines being compromised after Harriet revealed that the antidotes Chloe gave them were actually poison after looking over the recipe. In the end, it was decided that Hats and Sam would rearrange a few of the traps, primarily the safe path in which the mines were laid out. Hats also suggested creating a spiked log trap at the back door of Haven, which is less fortified.

Around 5PM the second day, Liam had a breakdown when Dex described the very possible scenario of him dying and his sisters being enslaved by the Fire Eaters. Liam pulled his flare gun on Dex, who dared him to shoot. Liam kicked him in the balls instead, and the altercation ended with the Motherfuckers leaving Haven and taking their weapons with them, including the minefield. The Dragons and the Wings stepped in to replace the minefield.

Just after 7PM, Dex made an appearance, alone, at the Fire Eater camp. Dex seemed surprised that the previous Fire Eater leader was dead, but ended up mentioning both that the Motherfuckers had abandoned Haven, and also that he had a large truck of explosives somewhere nearby. While his purpose was unclear, the situation ended with him being shot in the head by Black Dog, which necessitated the body being hastily removed from the Fire Eater camp. Dex's body exploded violently a few minutes later, creating a large explosion that was visible even from Haven.

Just after 9PM, Valgarður departed Haven and headed towards the Fire Eater camp. Although he lacked a clear goal, he was able to convince Gask, the leader of the Fire Eaters, to attempt negotiations in hopes of minimizing casualties on both sides. The decision was made to travel to Haven and arrive at High Noon in order to attempt negotiations. If the negotiations failed, the Fire Eaters were to attack at sundown. (This information is not known to Havenites - but increased tensions have meant everyone is expected to be all-hands-on-deck throughout sunday. If you'd like to participate, be sure to be around for 12PM PT / 3PM ET!)

Shortly before noon, Gask and Valgarður left the Fire Eater camp to travel to Haven. There, they were met by agitated peacekeepers, who removed Gask's weapons and bound both sets of hands. A large gathering formed of concerned Havenites, and several considered simply killing the both of them then and there. Cooler heads prevailed, however, and the gathering was moved to the center of Haven, to an empty space that would hold all of them. The gathering became increasingly large as Alex Drake stepped up to represent the Drakes, with Leonidas Bane representing the peacekeepers, and several traders and merchants representing their own groups.

Eventually, an agreement was reached. Haven would expend their resources to help the Fire Eaters create a settlement at a location recommended by the Drakes. Trading routes would be established, and there would be peace between the two cities. Considering the resolution would end with no violence, it was accepted on both sides, but there were serious concerns by the Havenites that Gask's people would not side with him. Gask reassured the Havenites that his people would side with him, and that his loyalists would put down anyone who defected, and then set out to return to camp.

At four PM, Gask and his men returned to the camp. There were concerns and tensions almost immediately, with many Fire Eaters doubting the sincerity of the Havenites offer. There were also concerns that Pandora, the leader of the cannibal cult which had supported the Fire Eaters might not accept the deal. Gask and Chloe, Pandora's loyal slave, entered the tent to discuss.

After quite some time they emerged, revealing the surprising truth: That Pandora had gone missing that morning. While there were concerns of foul play, Chloe revealed she had been chosen as Pandora's successor, and would take over in her place. While many did not enjoy the idea, after plenty of discussion many of the non-cannibal Fire Eaters decided they would give it a chance under Gask's leadership, believing it offered a hope for a better life. While the cannibals remained more hesitant, they finally agreed as well, although many hoped Pandora would return.

In the aftermath, the Fire Eaters rode to Haven with white flags, setting up a gathering outside of town and celebrating the truce. Despite hesitations on both sides, both the citizens of Haven and the Fire Eaters celebrated the same mutual victory, the party lasting long into the night.
