Sleep had been a struggle since yesterday. Junchi had spent a good amount of yesterday thinking about Amber and her words. Whether those words were accurate or not still evaded. The confusion caused Junchi to cry multiple times, and even now, as he searched for Amber after school, his face was a bit wet from earlier tears.

"I'm not a jerk," he muttered repeatedly while carefully swinging a small fruit basket filled with never-rotting fruit. Amber was the last one who needed his gift. For a moment he thought he could hold off on it, but no, it was best that he fixed things immediately. What if she spread rumors of him being a jerk? It wasn't fair that people would think he was a bad person after he healed someone and tried so hard to be nice. There was enough of that as is.

Amber was enjoying the brief break in between classes, earlier talking with her a few of her friends in the hallways before having to excuse herself as she wanted to ask a teacher from another class about a question she had over their assignment. When she checked the room however she found the teacher not inside the classroom which was... expected. Amber frowned somewhat as she quitely closed the door, but seeing that the teacher was not in she was going to have to see about asking them tomorrow about her question. Her question would have to wait she figured. As she started walking back to her friends, she recognized Junchi among all of the other students and the recollection of everything that happened yesterday came flooding back.

Junchi was one of the few students that she found she could never get along with. Much of their animosity was over minor things such as their opinions over hunting and callous, unfunny jokes but yesterday she finally got fed up with them and she called them out on it. But... she must have came off too harsh as Junchi ran off crying and she couldn't help but feel bad over the whole exchange. She thought of all the things she could have said differently but took the advice mister Broen gave to her about about helping people to heart: instead of thinking about what could have been, she should instead focus on doing what she can. Well... maybe know she can do just that?

"Hey... Junchi?" called out Amber as she approached them slowly "Hey umm... you look a bit... your okey right?" asked Amber, noticing that they seemed... upset still and part of her worried that it was still the lingering effects of yesterday still getting to him. Did she really hurt them that much? It was then that she noticed the basket full of delectable fruits in his arms.

"Oh umm... did you need... help taking those something?" piped up Amber, just trying to start up conversation as didn't want to bring up what happened yesterday between them. At least not yet.

Junchi was unsure what he felt when he saw Amber. He succeeded in his task of finding her, but he still had to give her the basket and make her forgive him. But there were other emotions inside of him too: the feeling of wanting to challenge her to combat and prove he wasn't what she said he was. To cry and apologize more. To run away like prey.

No, he was most certainly not prey. He held his head up high and held out the basket of fruits to Amber, not allowing himself to break eye contact to show he was in control of the situation.

"I'm okay. The basket's for you. It's an apology gift of fruit that won't ever rot." He hadn't realized that when he spoke, it sounded more like an invitation to combat than a sentimental display of regret. Even with his surgical mask on, it was clear he wasn't smiling, nor was he frowning. He was too busy figuring out Amber's response to his gift.

"Oh! They are... for me? Really?" spoke up Amber. All six of her eyes blinked in unison, surprised that the basket of fruits was intended for her. Even more so the apology... thinking that she was the one who was suppose to apologize since it was her words that sent Junchi off crying yesterday. She didn't confronting Junchi but... she did feel that she could have came off less harsh. After all... offering him joke book? She probably made them feel like a total joke... oh gosh what was she even thinking when she suggest that? Though from the sound of their voice sounded a bit... strained... perhaps this difficult for him to apologize? Or it could have been he was begrudgingly doing so by their parents but it would have been rude of her to refuse the apology gift regardless of Junchi's motives.

"Errr... thanks? Thanks for the gift." said an understandably confused Amber as she holds out her hands and offered with a smile "I can... take that off your hands if you now if you like"

With Amber accepting his gift, Junchi handed the basket over to her. All at once his stance softened like a weight was lifted off of his back. He still felt terribly tense, but he was happy to avoid needing to shove the gift to Amber or ask what else she wanted.

"I'm not lying. I don't want to be a jerk because no one likes jerks and I said sorry so I have to give a gift or else I'd be lying again."

Amber took in the apology and though it was welcomed... part of her felt that she own him an apology of her own too. While it was good of Junchi to own up to the fact that he was being a jerk and is now wanting to make amends, she also knew that she got unreasonably anger at him over his behavior and that she should have been more considerate with how she handled her words. What she said had to be said but at the same time she didn't want to hurt Junchi emotionally... because... that made her a bit of jerk at the end of day as well right?

"Oh, well thanks. I'm glad that you don't want to be a jerk because... well like you said, nobody wants to be a jerk! And I... I don't really have gift basket for you but... I would like to... apologize as for... coming off a bit critical and harsh. I didn't mean to make you upset... or imply that you were a joke. I only wanted to help you improve as person but in the end I... came off as bit of a jerk as well. But... hey, at least we can both learn how to NOT be jerks in the future right?" reassured Amber after she give her apology, feeling a bit relieved to have this chance to let it out. Maybe... just maybe... the two can actually learn to get along with each other.

Junchi tensed up at Amber's own apology. He gave a stunned stare at her for a few seconds. It wasn't that the apology offended him, but it caught him off guard. He was the one who was supposed to be fixing his mistakes not her. This was much better though. Now he didn't feel like he was the only one who messed up, and deep inside of him, he did feel like Amber should've apologized too.

After shaking himself out of his stun, he nodded, letting himself relax some more and even smile. "Um... sure. I don't know. The island is too different. A lot of things don't make sense." He shrugged. Another one of those, I want to talk but I'm being stubborn, type that many kids were prone to.

"Oh! And if you wanna share them you can. Then more people can be happy."

"Sometimes it just better to just ago along with things even if they don't really make sense." said Amber with a smirk. Her eyes then looked down the basket of imperishable fruits in her arms and nodded. "Yeah I will be sure to share them with my family! Me and my mom can figure out all sorts of things to do with these fruits... like smoothies!" said Amber with toothy smile.

"Alright well... thanks for the talk Junchi... I think we both learned something all things said and done." Amber took a quick glance at the time on her phone, pursing her lips as looked at the screen. "Oh... okey only few minutes until my next class start but... well is there anything else you want to bring up now that we got our apologies out of the way? Cause if not I might as well get going and figure if the teacher would be okey will me leaving a basket of fruits in the back of the room."

Junchi definitely did not agree with that statement. If something doesn't make sense, then he should try to understand it. And if he eventually concluded that it was wrong, then he shouldn't keep following it just because everyone else did. That made no sense.

But Amber had to go, and so did Junchi. He completed his task, so there was only one thing left to do before they parted way. "Are you okay with me? I don't want you to still be angry and be mean if we see each other again. I'll try to be nice to you too."

"... yeah, I am okey with you. I'm mad at you and... I will try to nicer to you as well." agreed Amber, her eyes glancing once more at the time before deciding that everything that needed to be said was spoken for at this point.

"Okay well... I should get going now. Thanks Junchi for the talk... and the fruits too! You have your heart in the right places. Alright well I will see you around now okey? Take care of yourself Junchi."

With nothing more to say, Amber walked past Junchi and was off to class. As she walked down the hallways, she looked back to Junchi and give him one last smile before she is lost among the other students migrating to their respective classes.
